39 Surprise!! It's a date with Lucy, not Jenna

"Surprise, Ms. Grey," Jenna revealed.

Lillian was shaking by now. Seeing Lucy would be something she had never expected that day. Clearly, she remembered Lucy's call in the early morning. Lucy had wished good luck for Lillian, and they kept talking for a few minutes. Lillian never suspected any surprise plans from Lucy. However, seeing her now shocked Lillian.

Jenna appeared satisfied. She got the reaction as expected, and so posed a bright victorious grin.

"Ms. Grey? Ms. Grey?" Jenna waved her hand in front of Lillian's face, trying to get her attention drawn away from the sudden surprise.

Lillian's eyes were quick to retract towards Jenna as she intended to scold the young lady for her unneeded trouble.

However, seeing Jenna's happy expression, Lillian foresaw all of the trouble that Jenna underwent to arrange this event.

Although Lillian Grey appeared slightly excited to see Lucy waiting inside, she also felt a little down from learning that their celebration will not include Jenna. Since the two acted as if they were planning to hang out like usual, and that it turned out to become a surprise. Also, Lillian did not prepare to let her romantic pheromones run wild tonight.

"Now, Ms. Grey, don't just stay here, go on, your date is expecting your arrival. It won't look good for Ms. Lucy to wait any longer. Go on." Jenna tried to push Lillian, who happened to be now a little bitter with the outcome.

"Why?" Lillian asked.

Lillian didn't know how to respond to this situation. One side, she is all pleased to meet Lucy, finally moving on with her life without Giselle or the past. On the contrary, she felt as if her plans with Jenna got ruined. Lillian felt that Jenna deserves equally to join in the celebration. Considering her favorite editor worked her ass off and helped Lillian in every possible way.

"What- 'Why?' Ms. Grey. I felt you deserved to be happy instead of turning into a freak every time you release a book. Also, you have to quit this habit of calling me every single time when you're scared or nervous. You have a steady girlfriend now, which to my knowledge, is something like a miracle. Ms. Lucy is really caring and gentle. She loves you a lot more than you think. She might not get involved in your work life. But it doesn't mean you should exclude her from her participation," Jenna paused and looked at Lucy as she continued to encourage.

"Ms. Grey, I think you should spend the night celebrating with your girlfriend, which is why you should be going inside right now," Jenna replied as she kept elbowing Lillian to move. Lillian stood like a rock; refused to be pushed around.

"And that's why you forced me to wear this dress?" Lillian guessed.

"Bingo."

"I thought you didn't want me to drive because I can get into accidents!"

"I didn't want you to spoil your appearance for the night," Jenna signed a victory symbol.

Lillian felt absurd but also genuinely fortunate for having Jenna around.

"So, did you plan for all of this?" Lillian asked.

"Yes. You have no idea how cool I looked in front of Ms. Lucy. Boy, did she get so happy about this idea! You'll see it with your own eyes, Ms. Grey," Jenna explained expressively.

She prepared to leave promptly and not wanting to disturb the couple on their date.

"Jenna, wait- come join us. I don't like sending you back all alone. We came here to celebrate, let's all have dinner, and then you can leave. Later, I can take her home and have some good time," Lillian winked while persuading. However, Jenna didn't want to destroy a perfect chance to make Lillian happy. She declined the offer respectfully.

"Ms. Grey, You know that I don't like it when you joke about serious things. I planned this for you. If you don't accept it, then forget talking to me," Jenna replied coldly. She wished Lillian to make the best use of this opportunity and start depending on someone who could give her the love and care.

"Alright. Thanks, Jenna." Lillian leaned in to give Jenna a big warm hug. Lillian got heartfelt and didn't let her go. Jenna could understand how Lillian felt, but she didn't want Lillian to meet Lucy with all that emotional face. Instead, Jenna tried to cheer her up before leaving.

"Ms. Grey. It is not a good idea to keep hugging me in front of your girlfriend. I mean, I don't want her to think of me as a rival. Rule no 1 in dating - give all the attention to your lover. Got it, Ms. Grey," Jenna advised.

Lillian then released her hug.

"Good. Time for me to leave. Ms. Grey, you have a good date. Relax and have fun with your girlfriend. I'm going, don't worry, I'll take the cab. And- I will get some dinner on my way. Stop looking at me like that, Ms. Grey," Jenna said as she settled to leave.

Lillian allowed and gave her one last hug. Jenna then left the place.

**

Lillian waited before entering the dining room. She remained outside watching Lucy, the girl got dressed up nicely and wore delicate ornaments which shone bright that even Lillian could spot it from the outside. The girl's eyes were eager and curious like she is expecting someone so desperately. Also, the wandering eyes held a bit of sadness, which was the fear of not being able to meet that person tonight.

Lillian kept staring at her until her body reacted finally. She smiled and let out a huge sigh. Lillian walked in with confidence and a charming smirk on her face. Lucy's eyes immediately spotted the approaching figure, and all of the fear turned into satisfaction. Lucy's face lit up as she saw Lillian advancing towards her.

"Well," Lillian looked at the girl in front. Lucy appeared stunningly gorgeous for the night. Any guy or even a girl would fall for her breathtaking beauty. But, it wasn't her beauty that made Lillian happy. Instead, it was the curious girl who kept waiting for Lillian and the genuine happiness on the girl's face when she saw Lillian - that captivated Lillian Grey that most.

Lucy stood up when Lillian reached their table. She went in to hug her and congratulate her. Lillian responded to the embrace and then kissed gently on her lips as a greeting. It made the girlfriend giggle in joy. She thought the surprise worked out well, and Jenna did a great job. Lucy kept gawking at Lillian as she hasn't seen her like this before, perfectly dressed up for a date night.

"You look good. And I can't imagine the struggles Jenna had gone through to get you to wear this," Lucy said as they both took their seats.

"I asked her to join us, but she declined my offer. I guess you too failed. Well, I should treat her some time. No, 'we will' treat her. But that is also going to be a surprise, just like this. So, you're going to play a vital role Lilly," Lucy talked fast that Lillian found it hard to follow her running words.

Frankly, Lillian Grey also got excited about Lucy's idea to surprise Jenna in return for this huge favor. She agreed to play her 'requisite part' that Lucy will be coming up. However, that is all in the future.

Lillian prayed for being fortunately surrounded by the very few people who loved her for her authenticity.

'Maybe it is time that I settle down in life!' - Lillian thought as she kept staring at her lovely girlfriend, whose rant on giving Jenna, a surprise continued that Lillian forgot to be on track, listening to her.

Out of curiosity of being stared at for a long time, Lucy paused chattering, and asked, "What?"

Having caught Lucy's hands with a gentle grip, Lillian showered soft pecks on each finger and only released when finished kissing all ten fingers.

"Let's date," Lillian declared with a warm smile.
