28 Return Back

Jenna lost herself from swimming through the past, thinking about the time when she first met Lillian Grey and the journey that made turned her into a respectable editor. She received careful guidance and constant care from her author, and under such help, Jenna grew to become a capable editor, though it was never by herself.

If Mr. Ricardo didn't agree to give her the job, Jenna would have struggled a lot in life, careerwise.

Furthermore, if Ms. Grey didn't push her hard to learn, she wouldn't have developed diverse skills required to survive in this field. Jenna felt grateful for both of them.

Indulging in her reminiscences, Jenna ignored the entrance of certain someone of the place, who returned from buying their lunch.

Lillian entered to notice Jenna daydreaming on her own.

The owner called out a few times and still not receiving a response, Lillian chose to flick her of the forehead.

It worked as Jenna let a groan from the stinging ache.

Rubbing the red place where Lillian flicked, Jenna opened her eyes to meet her Ms. Grey, up close that turned her warm ivory skin glistened to crimson shade from the flushed emotions.

Lillian saw it clearly, and to her own, mistook it to tease her editor.

"What is wrong with you, Jenna? You are blushing at me," Lillian called.

Jenna's face only darkened to beet red after getting ratted out by Lillian.

"I already have a girlfriend named Lucy. As much as you get attracted by my very existence, I decided not to cheat my lover," Lillian only backed out after commenting.

Confused as well as pissed out from such an absurd comment, Jenna wasn't sure why Lillian would still go on with her antics. She appeared speechless and taking privilege over the moment to calm down.

Lillian saw Jenna striving to cool her head and continued chattering.

"I knew it. Who can resist me? After all, I give out the aura of awesomeness. I told you to be careful, Jenna. Look what happened?"

Lillian's comment was a little pretentious.

"Ms. Grey, there is nothing wrong with me but you. I only remembered the time I met you first and how I ended up joining KeyLine. And nothing like being attracted to you at all, Ms. Grey. I'm just feeling grateful."

Jenna's cold response shut down Lillian's wild imagination.

Unable to cope up with the embarrassment, Lillian resorted to coming up with some great excuse for her thoughtless, silly behavior.

"You got stuck in the past and refused to return. To bring you back, I devised a plan to startle you. And it worked. Now, here, eat your lunch." Lillian tried her best and handed over the food. Their lunch was pretty simple: BBQ burgers, tacos, kale salad, and lemon freezo. Jenna remembered how obsessed Lillian Grey is, with food trucks.

Jenna chuckled softly.

"Ms. Grey, do you remember what you got me for your first time?"

On the contrary, starving from the tempting food in front of her, Lillian did not welcome any questions and went straight to take a mouthful bite of the delicious BBQ burgers. Jenna's brows twitched when her eager enthusiasm got ignored.

She hissed loudly, and Lillian heard.

"Do you not remember that day you bought me food from 'Cravings' food truck; those chicken wings, some chili fries, and your most beloved grilled cheese sandwich." Jenna was now infuriated.

'For this long, I remembered our past journey, and our first meeting, it was so emotional. But how can you not go along with it, Ms. Grey?' - She thought.

"I guess," Lillian replied vaguely.

Jenna went back to being reserved. Like the child who wanted to play with their parents but got shut down severely.

'From now on, I'm never feeling grateful for Ms. Grey specifically,' she vowed to herself.

"Grilled cheese sandwich, chicken wings, lemon chili fries, and classic Mojito... It's LEMON... chili fries Jenna; in fact, you had the most of it, if I recall the past."

Lillian answered quietly.

How can she forget meeting Jenna, who became a family member to her!

Jenna often shows her gratitude while Lillian hides it and does exhibit at times silently without Jenna's knowledge. The fact that she stayed as Lillian's editor for a long time itself is an achievement that Shane often reveals to praise her, but the poor girl still thinks childishly.

It doesn't matter as Lillian knows and understands Jenna, and that goes the same to her editor as well. The two without celebrating knew that they long became a family and a dear comrade in the profession.

"I was only testing you again, and you passed. I'm surprised, Jenna. You always pass with flying colors. Very good. Keep it up, and now don't give me that silent treatment. It's good that you feel grateful for me. But, you know I hate remembering past and feeling nostalgic. It's not my thing. So, if you behave like this once more, I'll keep teasing you forever." Lillian stood up and walked away, smiling mischievously.

"Got it, Ms. Grey. I will never bring it up, ever." Jenna vowed once again and continued eating.

Finishing her lunch, Jenna left Lillian's place to visit the printer's office. All the work for book release got over, and now they only need to wait until its publication.
