3 Dinner Invite

Giselle phone rang, and she went to her room to answer it. She got a bit flustered when she looked at the screen. It took her a few seconds to get ready to attend the call. Without letting it ring further, she picked up and answered it.

"Ms. Giselle."

"Ms. Giselle."

"Are you there?" a male voice spoke.

His voice tone seems to be in a rush as he sounded desperate to reach Giselle.

It was from the KeyLine Publication, and the person speaking was the assistant of Mr. Shane Ricardo, the CEO of the publishing company.

"Ah, yes. I'm here."

Sensing the urgency, Giselle quickly replied to his call.

"What happened?" Giselle asked.

The male voice exhaled as Giselle heard his sigh cause noise from the receiver.

"Mr. Ricardo would like to have dinner with you tomorrow night," the guy said it in a firm tone.

Giselle got more surprised, but she couldn't understand why did the dinner request called forth.

"May I ask what is the occasion?" Giselle questioned.

"It will be regarding your job and the author you will have to manage. That is all I was informed, Ms. Giselle. I would request your presence to be on time with Mr. Ricardo. I shall send you the email regarding the place and time for the meeting. That is all for now and please have a great evening," the assistant replied.

"Sure. Thank you."

"I will make sure to be on time. Goodbye," Giselle returned.

...

Coming out of her room, she noticed that Lia had just woken up from her nap.

Lia searched for her mother, rubbing her eyes to look around.

"What happened, mother?" Lia asked after spotting Giselle.

Giselle hesitated at first but explained about the call.

"I have a dinner meeting with my boss tomorrow night," Giselle said. "A…and you're worried about me?"

"Don't let my hunger fangs go crazy again mother I feel like I'm turning into a monster every single time this happens," Lia cried.

"Don't worry I'll cook you dinner before leaving,"

Before Giselle could finish, Lia drifts from the couch speaking.

"I'll be fine with Pizza again."

"You see mother; it's a meeting with your boss. You need to look fresh and cool so, leave the dinner to me. I will manage it."

The little girl vouched, pledging to her mother.

"However, I need to you lend me some cash."

Lia sounded desperate.

Giselle noticed her sneaky plan to continue eating pizza, and so tapped her head softly.

Lia could only think that her mom saw through her plan.

"Alright, let me unpack all other boxes tonight," Giselle transformed into her working mode.

"You're not going to pull an all-nighter, aren't you?" Lia guessed, knowing Giselle's nature.

"Oh, yeah, But you have to help me too," Giselle beamed.

"Fine," Lia agreed without delay.

They both helped each other, unpacking and organizing their new apartment.

The living room immersed in a huge pile of mess with multiple boxes and things. They both focused on their respective rooms first and used the living room as the warehouse area. The heavy work until midnight wore out Lia.

So, she went to bed a little late after finishing her dinner while Giselle was able to stay awake until 3 AM and arranged her new apartment entirely.

By the time Lia finished, they were able to organize their rooms and was about to start the living area. However, Giselle ordered Lia to sleep even though she insisted on her mother in assisting.

Giselle stood firm as Lia gave up and went to sleep.

2:50 AM -

Giselle sat down on the couch, finally letting out a breath in their new apartment, which is neatly looking organized now.

Though it looked spacious without any extra decorations, Giselle felt happy from working so damn hard.

"I should purchase some plants to grow." - Giselle noted herself.

She laid on the couch for some time before eventually getting up to throw away the debris from unpacking.

The process of moving in was successful.

Giselle went to bed after returning from discarding the garbage.
