29 Ch. 29: Battlefields

A momentary silence enveloped the battlefield, broken only by the drops of blood dripping from my sword.

Suddenly, a thunderous cry of rage broke the silence. Mitachurl, a giant monster with a stone axe in his hand, roared angrily.

His fiery red eyes stared at me vengefully. The other Hilichurls followed Mitachurl's lead, their screams echoing throughout the neighbourhood.

A few minutes later, they lunged at me angrily as if I had provoked them.

Indeed, no mistake... I did provoke them earlier.

But I didn't expect them to still have emotions... I knew this was a heartless act.

After exhaling due to being saddened by my provoking earlier, I raised my empty hand.

Suddenly a flash of purple light surrounded my hand, like a shimmering glove of energy. A low rumbling sound could be heard, like the whisper of nature filled with power.

Electro Vision!

Without a word, Mitachurl raised his axe high and hurled it at me with tremendous force.

The axe was like a meteor falling from the sky, slashing through the air with a terrifying roar.

What?! He threw an axe?!

Panic swept through me. I hadn't expected Mitachurl to commit such a reckless act. My body tensed, adrenaline rushing through my blood.

With quick reflexes, I jumped to the side, dodging the axe that shot out at lightning speed. The axe hit the ground hard, creating a huge gaping hole.

Dust flew up, obscuring my view. I staggered backwards, my heart pounding. Relief mixed with fear washed over me.

I had survived the attack!

I gripped my sword tightly.

This time Electro Vision enveloped my sword as well.

Suddenly, my feet felt a strange sensation. It was as if the ground beneath me was moving, spinning at an ever-increasing speed.

I looked down, and what I saw made my heart race.

Beneath my feet, a brown-coloured circle was carved into the ground.

It was spinning at a high speed, creating a strong vortex of wind.

This... this!?

This was elemental power!

I hurriedly dodged to the side again, not having time to prepare myself to attack.

Slowly, from the circle, a large rock emerged from the ground. It was dark brown in colour, with a rough and shiny surface as if it was gold!

The tip of the stone was sharp and pointed, like a knife ready to stab.

It was the Geo element!

I know the cause, it's Samachurl, he can use elemental abilities somehow.

Immediately after that, I prepared myself to attack.

With lightning speed, I headed towards the approaching Hilichurl, who was carrying a wooden club.

As I approached, he charged at me. However, I dodged it straightforwardly.

His attacks were so slow.

This is the third one!

I slashed at the Hilichurl's head then quickly ran again.

There was a danger that if I stood still for too long, it would give Samachurl a chance to unleash her elemental abilities!

There are now five of them left.

Glancing at Mitachurl, it seemed she had no intention of attacking me with her bare hands.

He intended to pick up the axe he had thrown.

This is a good opportunity!

The axe was thrown quite far and it would take a lot of time to retrieve it.

While thinking this, I once again sliced open the body of the Hilichurl that attacked me.

Blood splatters formed a slash in the air.

Another one had fallen.

A few minutes later, I heard Mitachurl roar again. His voice sounded not angry but sad.

He seemed to be feeling the loss of his members one by one.

Looking back, I saw him approaching with bold and mighty strides. He raised his axe.

Turning away from Mitachurl, I ran towards Hilichurl.

When the Hilichurl attacked, I ducked, avoiding the wooden club that shot out at lightning speed.

The Hilichurl that attacked me was agile and strong, unlike the ordinary Hilichurls I had fought before.

This Hilichurl's attacks were somewhat faster!

However, as the wind blew, carrying the scent of wet earth and the stench from the Hilichurl's body, I spun around nimbly, avoiding the next attack.

Then, with all my might, I leapt upwards. My body soared through the air, like lightning striking.

I landed right behind the Hilichurl who attacked me earlier. With a swift movement, I thrust my sword into its back.

My blade pierced through the Hilichurl's flesh with ease. The monster fell to the ground, dead instantly.

There were now three of them left.

Turning round instantly, I saw one Hilichurl retreating step by step.

He was screaming in a language I couldn't understand.

By this time the sun had already set on the western horizon, leaving the sky with a beautiful orange tinge.

Stars began to appear in the darkening sky, like glittering diamonds.

If this goes on too long it could be dangerous...

I have to finish this soon.

"After all, I can't see in the dark..."

When I said that, I shot out, leaving lightning where I stood before.

I was now standing behind Samachurl!

I can do this when I press my Electro Vision for 5 seconds before moving!

The analogy is like a spring.

I learned it during this battle.

Instantly, my sword lit up with purple-colored light and flashes.

Then, gesticulating, it slashed quickly at Samachurl's head. The blood that splashed out reflected the purple light.

After that, I walked slowly toward Hilichurl who was retreating step by step, not knowing that I was behind him.

At this moment, I raised my sword.

Then I cut the Hilichurl.

He was split into two.

He died without realizing it.

Now only Mitachurl and I were left.

He stood there, transfixed.

I could guess why he was suddenly silent. Her family was dead.

I exhaled, then drew my sword at him from a distance.

The light from Electro Vision allowed me to catch a glimpse of him, second by second, his masked face, his huge, hulking body.

Suddenly, in the darkness, I saw his muscles bulging.

I couldn't help but prepare myself.

This was a one-on-one fight.

The night wind blew gently, carrying the scent of wet earth and dry leaves. The sound of its swish was like the soothing song of nature.

If it's not a fight, perhaps this atmosphere is perfect for contemplating the future. But...

I exhaled.

When the exhale ended, I shot out.

I was now standing in front of Mitachurl!

Mitachurl, took a step back at my sudden appearance.

He swung his weapon with brutal force.

I, on the other hand, with my sword drawn, was engulfed in a purple aura that flickered like restrained lightning.

Every clash of sword and axe produced a rumble that echoed in the night.

The sound of metal clashing was like a melodious symphony of death, accompanied by Mitachurl's screams that echoed like the howls of hungry wolves.

The purple glint of my sword danced in the darkness like a giant lost firefly.

Its light illuminated Mitachurl's furious face, and the wounds that were beginning to decorate his body.

I moved with lightning speed, dodging every swing of the giant axe with astonishing precision.

Occasionally, my sword slashed through Mitachurl's body, leaving behind burns that smoked and smelled of charred flesh.

I don't know how long we've been fighting. But I'm sure... it went on for minutes, with no sign of fatigue from either of us.

Mitachurl continued to attack with blind persistence, while I defended with deadly calm and precision.

Finally, after I swung one sword strike, I shattered Mitachurl's axe, and the fight was over.

I stood tall over Mitachurl's helpless body, my sword still glowing with a slowly fading purple aura.

The roar of battle had been replaced by the eerie silence of the night. Only the sound of the wind whispered through the trees, carrying the scent of blood and death.

I raised my head, looking up at the sky full of stars.

"I feel like I'm getting stronger... or I'm just getting used to it and adapting.

"Is this because of my other personality? I don't know. After or before Teyvat I had never practiced swordplay so I felt the need to practice swordplay. In any case, it's likely that I'll continue to use a sword in the future."

When I thought about finding a mentor to train with, the first thing that came to mind was a beautiful girl with two waist-length ponytails, adorned with a small odango-style bun that resembled horns. A small braid also dangled along the side of her bangs.

It was Keqing, the Yuheng of Liyue Qixing.

Shaking my head.

Perhaps it's because I'm in Liyue that it's natural for my mind to go straight to her.

Slashing through the air, all the blood attached to my sword splashed into the air.

Then, I sheathed my sword and dismounted from Mitachurl's body.

I had to search for her little sister.

However, that search did not go smoothly.

This led me to the past, where I was always good at hiding.

If it was me... then I would have chosen a place to hide in...

I smiled and approached a place.

Behind a large creeping root, I found the child closing in: looking down as she hugged her legs.

Gotcha!
