2 Chapter 2: A Dragon God

Aether slowly opened his eyes, expecting to be met by the sun's light. Only to find himself being greeted by the view of nothingness, absolute nothingness.

His eyes widened, he tried to rubbing his eyes to see if he is hallucinating and even pinched himself to wake up from this possible dream, but nothing worked.

With a groan of frustration escaping his mouth, he reluctantly stood up. He started to look and walk around trying to see, feel and smell atleast something, but all he saw was nothingness, he didn't feel the ground he was walking on, nor can he smell any scent even his own.

'What the hell is going on? Rather, well the hell am I?' He thought, a look of concern overtook his face.

'Did I get kidnapped?' 'Am I being sacrifice to a god?' 'Am I stuck here forever?'

Those thoughts and many others overflowed Aether's mind. He began to feel even more anxious as the silence made him nervous and uneasy.

As Aether continues to walk aimlessly, he bumped into something. Surprise by this he slowly walked back, wondering if it was a creature or some kind of wall.

His thoughts were answered when a giant, scaly foot with long black nails stepped on the "ground" making Aether fall on his back due to the force of the foot's impact.

The nothingness was then slowly lighting up, being slowly replaced by giant rocks, rocky pillars, magmas, lavas, and volcanoes. Aether looked on in awe as the nothingness was completely replaced into what looks like hell.

The breathing of the creature snapped Aether out of his daze, before he shakily turned his head and looked up. His eyes slowly widened as the figure completely entered his view.

Infront of him was a gigantic western dragon, its foot was larger than thag of the mountains, its foot was larger than Mt. Everest, this was one of the largest being Aether had ever seen.

With a shaky tone, Aether asked. "W-who... are... y-you?"

The red scaled dragon looked at Aether with interest, before it began to stand on its hind legs. Aether quickly reacted in fear by running back, only stopping once he almost fell on a lava.

"RRRAAAAAAHHHH!!"

The dragon roared causing the place to shake, Aether closed his eyes and covered his his ears as those roars entered his ears.

Aether opened his eyes when the dragon stopped roaring. The two locked eyes with each other for a couple of seconds before the dragon began to speak.

"Greetings, Aether. My name is Thraxar, the Dragon God of Fire and Destruction. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Thraxar spoke in a respectable manner with his deep voice echoing across the area.

"Dragon God of... Fire and... D-destruction?"

Aether said in a daze, meeting something that looked and exerted an aura that proved his power. Aether wondered if this dragon was stronger than that unknown god he fought.

The Dragon pointed its dark nails at him before speaking, "You shall be my successor."

"Ok, let me get this straight, you and your friends were killed by a dragon named Zero who was immune to all of your attacks?" Aether asked while Thraxar nodded in confirmation.

"So know, you guys will look for a successor to become the new Dragon gods?" Aether asked which was met by a nod of confirmation again.

"Something is not right, besides, who even are the others?"

"Very well, you want to know my story correct? Very well then, let's start from the very beginning."

"Millions of years ago, before the very first humans even appeared in Teyvat, seven dragons started to form from the elements of the world.

The first and the wisest was the Dragon Goddess of Plants and Knowledge, Vyrideth. The second and the wealthiest was the Dragon God of Earth and Wealth, Delthar.

The third and the kindest, the Dragon Goddess of Wind and Life, Seryne. The Fourth and has the most temper, the Dragon God of Electricity and Weather, Zixion. And I hate him.

The fifth and the most respectful, the Dragon Goddess of Water and Justice, Sylneth. The sixth and the most naive, the Dragon Goddess of Ice and Love, Glacilia. And finally, I, Dragon God of Fire and Destruction, the last and the strongest out of all of Dragon Gods.

The seven of us vowed to protect humanity from any outsiders, we watched humanity grow and evolved further even after our demise."

After the dragon told him about the other dragon gods, Aether looked on in awe as Thraxar listed down all of their accomplisments.

"Then, Zero, The Dragon of Chaos appeared in Celestia. Long story short, He almost completely destroyed Celestia if it was not for them sending him towards the surface where he became our problem.

To save humanity and Teyvat, the seven of us finally reunited and joined forces once again, and together, we fought him at a place where time and space does not exist."

The seven dragons glared at the Dragon of Chaos. They released their killing intent only for him to shook it off. All of them rushed at Zero while he did the same.

...

The first to go out was Vyrideth. She was bitten in half by the Chaos Dragon. The second to go out was Zixion, his face was completely eradicated off his head by Zero's slashed.

The third to die was Glacilia, then Sylneth followed, then Seryne, then Delthar's body was completely erased.

A heavily wounded Thraxar slowly and shakily opened his mouth, where he let out his final attack.

A giant torrent of flames spewed out of his mouth, an attack much stronger than all of his, an attack where he uses all of remaining strength.

But to no avail, Zero was completely unaffected, before killing Thraxar.

"After our death, we used our will power to force our spirits to not go into Celestia. We barely escaped from the place where we died, and then we waited for thousands of years for the right successors.

We witnessed Celestia give power to other people to become a Nation's leader and protector, completely replacing us."

Thraxar finished telling his and the others' story, he noticed a frown in Aether's face.

'Seeing people replace you must be difficult huh.' Aether thought, before speaking, "I see... so you need me to take your role and train to become stronger."

Thraxar nodded in confirmation, "Yes, you will also recieved a huge physical buff and your appearance will slightly change."

"Alright, I'll accept, if I'm stronger then I'll find my sister faster right? Then I accept, I'll become your successor!"

"Very well then, I will start the ritual. Prepare yourself Aether, shall the ritual may be painful." Thraxar smiled as he noticed the fire in Aether's eyes.
