When I turned my gaze to the girl dressed in red, jumping Hilichurl receives a spinning arrow in the stomach and is blown away. The last Hilichurl that was nearby is also burned by the flames. Woah... she's really strong.

"We finally finished. The task was to subdue a bunch of them, but we killed one more bunch, didn't we?"

As she said that, she slapped her hand, wiping her palms. I killed four Hilichurls in total. I think it was a good performance considering it was my first battle.

The girl came over to examine me. She paused as she noticed the Anemo on my body that soon disappeared, then fixed her large hazel eyes on my face.

"Thanks for your help, outsider. Without you the fight would have been harder."

Even though she could fight the fight alone, she thanked with a sincere smile.

"No need to thank, I only helped by seeing that someone needed it."

"You don't seem to be from Mondstadt, do you come from another nation by any chance?"

"That's right. Since I'm new here, I could use some guidance. Although I was ready, I must admit I got lost and can't find my way into city."

She laughed animatedly with a funny pose, bringing a hand to her slender waist. She wore tight clothes and had long brown hair, hazel eyes, fair skin and average height. With that beautiful smile, she seemed kind.

"Don't worry, I'll show you the way. I'm Amber, Outrider's Knights of Favonius."

As she introduced herself, Amber took a firmer stance and straightened her back while bringing her right hand to her chest just like the City guards do.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Kurogane Kaito. I come from a faraway place so I'd like to stay in Mondstadt for a while."

"Kurogane? What an unusual name." She soon continued, "From your appearance I'd say you're from Inazuma, so your name should be Kaito, right? It's been a while since I've seen someone from there, I think they're isolated and that's why I forgot their customs regarding names."

Amber seemed very talkative. It was not surprising, given that as a Mondstadt Knight scout she was surely used to interacting with travelers.

She had been correct that my name, Kaito, was from Inazuma. Or rather Japanese. Despite playing little, I knew some of the names of the nations up to the most recent Genshin Impact version, so I knew that the nation of Inazuma, too, was inspired by Japanese culture.

Amber probably knew the details of their customs, except that I was from another world. Will she question my sanity if I say so? I'll keep quiet about that.

"These wild monsters are getting closer and closer to the city. Anyway, these were the last Hilichurls of the day. If you don't have any plans... Oh by the way, do you have any identifying documents?"

My lips pursed at her request for ID — of course I didn't! I just came back to life in this world!

"You see, crossing the sea from Inazuma I lost all my belongings on the boat. You know, the trip can be chaotic." I said with a lame but useful excuse for now.

"... It's like this. It's a pity. I heard that traversing the seas of Inazuma can be really difficult, with lightning striking as if the Archon herself were raging. It's not uncommon for shipwrecks to be rumored. May the god Anemo protect them!"

I knew that feeling. When I wanted to cross the sea from Mondstadt to Inazuma with a Cryo character, the lightning had wrecked me when I was about to get there. It was really frustrating.

"So, what's the reason for your visit to Mondstadt?" Amber's smile gave way to a more serious expression, "I'm sorry to have to ask, but all travelers are asked about their reasons for visiting Mondstadt. Even though it's the City of Freedom, and anyone can come or go as they pleased, we've had some hectic times lately."

Sigh. My luck was really bad to arrive just at such a time. Then, I could only reply.

"I'm looking for work to subsist. Maybe becoming an adventurer would be a good option."

We walked down a path and after a few minutes the silhouette of Mondstadt was visible on the horizon, much larger than I had first imagined.

"To get acquainted, let me give you a brief introduction."

Without realizing it, my eyes briefly lowered to her bubble butt outlined by the brown leather shorts, along with the red T-shirt, stockings and thigh-high white boots, decorated with gold accents.

Umu. Her thighs are beautiful.

I shook my head quickly and paid attention to her words to avoid getting distracted again.

"Citizens often pay tribute to Barbatos, the Archon Anemo who protects the land of Mondstadt. Though he has never been seen directly, his influence lingers on each person through the winds. The fervor of the citizens to venerate their god has never waned over the years. He is the symbol of freedom."

She began to speak admiringly of Barbatos. I wondered if I could ever better understand the meaning these gods had for the local people. After listening attentively, I asked the question that was on my mind:

"Hey, that thing about there being a dragon around here has me worried. I mean, a real dragon? With scales, claws and fire breath appearing as a Final Boss in a game?"

How was it possible that in a newbie city there was such a strong enemy that could only be defeated at the maximum level?! That just didn't make sense!

Wait, she mean that monster from the beginning of Genshin Impact? I vaguely remember it before I fainted and went back to the hospital. What was its name?

Amber turned to me. Her cute accessory on her head in the shape of bunny ears made her look adorable.

"I don't know what you mean by 'final boss,' but yes, I'm talking about that dragon. Although it doesn't spit fire, it creates storms. Stormterror is its name. By the way, did you see those creatures earlier?"

"Umu. You mean the Hilichurls?"

I, who doubted my existence and thought I was screwed in every possible way, looked at Amber again.

"Those same ones. Hilichurls rarely dare to camp so close to human settlements. But since Stormterror has been prowling the region, they seem to have gained courage. They have been adversely affecting our crops and have also been causing problems on the trade routes."

"We Knights of Favonius have been striving to protect the citizens. But the threat posed by both the monsters and the dragon itself have kept our forces busy. If Grandmaster Varka had not left, we would not be in so much trouble. Luckily, we have Jean."

I could hear the concern in her voice. At the new mention of a name I didn't know, I was about to ask when Amber suddenly exclaimed with her ever-smiling face.

"We have arrived!"

After a long chat, we finally reached the bridge over the river that connected directly to the city's entrance. Suddenly the pigeons on the bridge took flight, as if they had sensed us approaching.

What appeared in front of me was an imposing wall. Almost circular in shape, it protected the entire city within its walls. It was obvious how much effort had been put into ensuring the safety of the inhabitants against possible threats.

Two guards with spears intercepted us on either side of the huge gate as we approached. Following protocol, they asked us a few questions.

However, it was enough that Amber spoke for me to allow me to pass. Had it not been for her, I would surely have been detained.
