36 Chapter 34: Should I beat him up?

(Alexander POV)

"I appreciate the help, Captain Li," I said to the elderly guard captain as I stored the piece of parchment bearing my name "Bai Heng" and the world Adepti.

With a gentle smile on his face, Captain Li replied, "It's nothing, Mr. Bai. I hope you enjoy your stay in Liyue. If you ever need assistance again, don't hesitate to ask. It's an honor to serve alongside the Adepti."

With a gentle smile, I sent off the elderly Guard Captain.

Earlier, when I reached the main entrance of Liyue, I saw the guards asking for identification from the people trying to get in.

An elderly man carrying a burlap sack with a child handed over a piece of parchment.

A buffed dude with a two-handed axe handed what I recognized as an adventurer card.

And a small fat man with a few escorts handing over what I assume was something like a merchant's card.

Because I was using my Adepti form, I had no Identification to show making me stand awkwardly outside the gate.

Maybe because I was too distracted, I failed to recognize that most of the people were avoiding my gaze and some even looked with awe and fear.

Even the other guards were simply standing by not doing anything while I watched the people walk in towards the city.

As I was about to leave and simply sneak my way inside the capital, I saw the elderly guard approach.

After a short talk with the guard captain, he made me an Identification parchment I could use as I stayed inside the city.

'I remember the game mentioning that people don't know much about the adepti. However, since he was the guard captain, he might have been informed and had a way of recognizing an adepti. It's possible that they could feel the aura leaking from me, or they had something specific to recognize an adepti.' With a shrug, I started walking towards the stalls that were set up a few tens of meters from the gate.

(Third Person POV)

In the vibrant port market of Liyue Harbor, stalls overflowed with a bounty of maritime delights.

From freshly caught seafood to sun-dried delicacies, aromatic herbs, and spices, every corner offered a tantalizing taste of the ocean's bounty.

Alongside the savory treats, artisans proudly displayed ornate ornaments crafted from delicate sea shells, while others showcased exquisite ceramic tea sets and cups, blending tradition with contemporary elegance.

Amidst the lively hustle and bustle, the market painted a vivid picture of Liyue's coastal charm and rich maritime heritage.

Alexander, assuming the identity of Bai Heng, paused to shop for crustaceans at a stall.

Unbeknownst to him, from atop a distant mountain, an observing gaze coming from a golden-colored eye followed his every move.

(Alexander POV)

My face lit up with a big grin as I finished making my purchase.

Besides stocking up on a year's worth of seafood, I also snagged a few sets of ceramic utensils and tea sets.

But what really caught my eye were the clothing sets, reminiscent of Zhongli's style. I couldn't resist grabbing about ten sets in shades of black and gray.

Because I was posing as an Adepti with memory loss, I did not shy away from using my inventory in public.

The sight of a small hill of seafood disappearing as I touched it surprised some of the locals, with a few even offering a prayer which creeped me out.

'Ah, using the inventory freely feels great. No reason to hide it as my setting is an adepti with memory loss, so I should not have much modern-day common sense. My spatial storage skill shouldn't be too shocking either as Madam Ping can even make an island inside a teapot.' I said to myself as I continued on my way towards the Wanmin Restaurant.

Following the directions an old lady gave me after asking where I could get good food, I found myself standing a street away from the front of the most luxurious restaurants on Liyue, the Feiyun Slope.

'Mmm, this isn't Xianling's place, but I should be able to find it myself from here. I believe all I need to do is walk straight from here until I reach Hu Tao's place, then cross the bridge and keep walking until I reach the Third-Round Knockout. From there, I should be able to find it. Even with the place expanding and being way different from the game's the general location should remain the same right?' As my mind wandered the door of the pavilion opened.

Walking out of the pavilion, I saw the Eleventh of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Tartaglia with one of my favorite characters in the game, Yun Jin.

'Yun Jin looks way cuter than what I remember. Definitely one of the best Liyue girls.' I said to myself as I silently admired the beauty of one of my favorite characters.

'But why is she with Chlide? Tf is this 'Hey, girlie' dude doing? And why is he already here anyway? Liyue's plot should not start until next year. Is he that dedicated to his work to come here a year early? But why is she with him?' As I squinted, thoughts raced through my mind while making eye contact with Childe.

Childe only gave me a polite smile and nodded as he continued walking while talking with Yun Jin as they head towards the stairs which I assume to be heading towards the Fatui Bank.

'Mmm, sus, but ok.' I said to myself before I too decided to walk towards my destination.

'I definitely wasn't jelly ok? It's not like I wanted to eat with Yun Jin. It definitely wasn't the case, Childe seems just to sus for me. That smug face as he nodded. I am angery. I can't wait to smack him.' I tried to calm myself down as I was resisting the urge to beat Childe up.

After my angery calmed down, I found myself already close to the bridge outside of the Funeral parlor.

With a sigh, I continued walking while thinking about how good the food from Xianling's restaurant would taste when a voice from behind me interrupted my thoughts. "Arere~ What do we have here?"
