Chapter 9 Proposition

Arriving at the Town Brann could see that everyone was still celebrating many people where passed out drunk or still drinking.

'Wow' was all Brann could think of saying.

'Wow indeed' Debby said 'That was pretty cool and a bit harsh with what you did with that servant'

'I ran a company Debby, and i'm planning on running one here i'm just brushing up on my Boss skills'

'Yeah but are you sure this is gonna work? i mean i don't think he'll be co-operative with you, i mean you are just a child and all'

'True but i have something that he doesn't'

'And whats that?' Debby asked.

'You' Brann said 'You're the reason my company was the way it was'

'Flattery will get you anywhere'

'Don't i know it'

They then arrived to where merchant Fredrick was supposedly satying.

'Huh, it's a pretty good inn' Asher thought he then turns towards John who had been quite the whole time.

"You" Brann pointed to the man.

"My lord" John said bowing "What is it you need?" 'Crap gotta please him'

"As you can see they probably won't let me in and if they do no one would take to me because i'm a noble, so i need you to go in there and ask for Merchant Fredrick"

"Very well my lord it shall be done"

"Good" Brann said. "And when you see him tell him to come to me, the carriage will be here waiting for the both of you"

With that John was off.

'Now we wait' Brann said.

'Man you are cruel' Debby said.

'What?'

'Nothing' Debby said.

'Tell me whats on your mind'

Debby sighed 'Don't you think that your moving to fast?'

'Maybe but this is necessary, i have to have funding and backing and getting Merchant Fredrick is the first step, you don't like what i'm doing?' Brann asked.

'What? no i support it but i'm juts looking out for you' Debby said.

'Well thanks i really appreciate it'

A knock on the carriage door signaled that John had retrieved Fredrick.

"Ahh Merchant Fredrick how do you doo?" Brann said politely.

Fredrick who was shocked and confused to Brann's sudden apperance.

"Ah Young Master, to what do i ow the pleasure? do you perhaps want another look at my wares, i have more swords and Runes stones for you"

"That sounds wonderful Merchant Fredrick, but i'm here on another matter"

"And what would that be?" Fredrick asked 'What the hell is happening'.

"Well i've come to wonder if the kingdom has a sort of merchant association"

"Merchant association? oh if you mean the Merchant Guild then yes we do, but Why ask that?"

'Well i shouldn't be surprised, this world also has merchant guild'

"I've been wondering does the merchant guild reach all the way out here in the frontier?"

"Well they do certainly have an influence through trade and all but they don't have much here, with the constant threat of bandits and barbarians that sneak through the Blockade here on the east"

"Barbarians? how come i've never heard of them"

"Well it's because the general public is kept out of it as to not cause panick, but the kingdom is taking care of it right now"

"But what about the barbarians? Whats all that about?"

"Well the land to the east where we reside is close to uninhabitable zone which many people call the Dark Lands"

"Dark Lands?"

"Yes well that's what the Papal State refers it as, but to me it's all nonsense, the land over there is undeveloped and full of Magical beast but their are some tribes that settle there mostly the so called barbarians but many merchants think that their is another country on the other side of the Dark Lands"

"Tell me about Magical beasts"

"Well not much is known about them because no ones seen any but from reports from exploration and recon teams sent to the Dark Lands suggest that their are Beast who have connections to Magic" Fredrick continued.

"A friend of mine who was part of the exploration team said that they encountered a type of bear but it was on fire and could control it, He also mention other stuff but from what i could tell their are many types of Magical bears, Some having affinity to fire and some to other elements like rocks or water"

"Then it's safe to say that their are other more powerful Magical beast in the Dark lands" Brann replied.

"Yes that seems to be the case"

"How come you know all of this Merchant Fredrick?"

"Aha well it's because I've traveled just about everywhere except for the Dark Lands and I've recorded my journey ins my book"

'He has a book about the stuff he's seen?' Brann thought.

'That could prove useful, why not ask for it'

"By this book do you think i could borrow it?"

Fredrick smiled. "For a price Young Master after all nothing in this world is free"

'Smart man' Brann thought.

"How much?"

"Well because I have painstakingly wrote and traveled-"

"Cut the bullshit Merchant Fredrick, i have every book regarding the culture and beast of other countries, i am a noble after all and lying to me i could have your head"

Fredrick gulped 'Crap what is he?'

"I.... I apologize young master"

"Good make sure it doesn't happen again"

"Yes young master"

Brann leaned in "But i have a proposition"

"Proposition?"
