Chapter 8 Runes

The next day of the celebration the party wasn't over yet as another one is being held at the Ashflames manor where all of the important people within the Ashflames territory. Merchants and influential people as well as the friends and family of the Ashflames.

'Dammit i won't have time to tinker with the sword and runes at all today' Brann thought.

'That's a bummer but at least you have the party to look forward too' replied Debby.

'But i don't have any interest it that sort of thing, i never did on earth and i never will here'

'At least think this through their could be people at the party who could be helpful to your experiments'

'You have a point, but still i'm just wasting precious time'

Brann went on to get prepared with the party by going to his mother to get opinion on his clothes.

"Oh no it's not about your birthday darling it's to celebrate the forming of our territory" Mavis said barking orders to the servants on the decorations.

"So i don't have to attend?" Brann asked hopeful.

"Yes exactly, you can play in your room or have one of the servants play with you" She said picking him up. "But first you need some breakfast, come on the chef prepared your favorite". Brann doesn't really have a preference for food in this world because no food here will ever compare on earth. Except of course the chef's secrete recipe of Shepard's pie with cut up slices of Bacon and cheese mixed in together with mashed potatoes.

Brann's eyes lit up "Yes mother I am indeed hungry".

Mavis carried Brann to the dinning room where a Cloche A type of Silverware shaped dome that covers food is covering his favorite food.

After eating he went to his room and checked on his new sword and the crate of runes.

'Debby scan them please '

'I'm on it'

Debby took a moment to scan the Sword and Runes.

'I don't believe it' Debby said after finishing her scan.

'What? what is it?'

'The sword from the looks of it appears to be a normal sword, but after scanning it i could see the intricate and complexity of the sword' Debby continued. 'Basically the sword is like a computer or similar to one with a storage space, and the Runes are the contents that it downloads'

'I don't get it' Brann said still confused.

'Ugh.. well it's basically like a game console and the Runes are the disk or games, the Sword/console takes in the Runes information allowing it to play the game or in the swords case use the Magic within the rune'

'Now i understand, but how is this possible where are the wires and circuits? how is this even possible?' Brann asked.

'Beats me, this is in fact a fantasy world with magic so anything is possible'

'But how could something this advanced, even more advance that anything on earth be here, and from what Merchant Fredrick said it's not as popular' Asher said picking up the sword.

It was about 27 inches and looked normal except for the pommel where the Runes stones could be placed.

'And the Rune stones?' Asher asked.

'We it's just as i said, it holds codes and information but i don't have a way to decipher them'

'That's unfortunate, but we could try looking for a book about it' Asher said putting the sword down. 'But before i do anything i have to train, i'm still one years old but i won't be for long'

He put all of the Runes away 'Debby give me all the information you have with body work outs, diets and developments after that combine the ones that would prove much more beneficial for me'

'Sure thing but it will take a while'

'No i need it quick just skip all the information that's useless'

'Very well, but what will you do in the meantime'

'I'll be making some connections'

With that Asher called for a servant. "Yes my lord?" The servant asked.

"John i'd like to visit merchant Fredrick could you prepare a carraige for me and bring two guards"

The servant John looked puzzled 'What?!!! The young lord is just One years old how is this..... and he wants to meet a merchant?' He thought.

"I Don't have all day just follow my instructions to the letter and i'll forgive your tardiness" Asher said in a stern voice.

"Right away my lord" John said bowing and running off to do what he was told. 'Nobles are a weird bunch, but this is my first job so i can't lose it' he thought hurrying to get the carriage and the guards.

A few moments later two armed guards and a carriage was waiting outside of the manor.

Mavis who noticed it went outside and asked them what's happening.

"The young lord asked us to My lady" Said a guard.

"Asher?" Mavis asked.

Then a small figure appeared behind her.

"Yes Mama?" Asher asked.

Startled Mavis gave a yelp "Asher!!" she said regaining her composure. "What's the meaning of this? Who said that you could go out?"

Asher sighed 'Dammit being a child sucks i can't do anything at all, i have to act quickly to change her mind'

"Well mother....."Asher said "I want to play with other kids my age so i want to go to the town and play with them" He said with a sad expression "I Don't have any friends here". 'Please work if she says yes then i can meet with merchant Fredrick, plus i don't need a friend i need a colleague'

Mavis just looked at Asher seeing his sad expression sighing she reluctantly agreed "Fine, but on one condition" She said.

'Yes!!!!' Asher thought "what is it mother?"

"I'd like to see the new friends you've made"

'Crap now i really have to make friends' "Very well mother" Asher said with a smile but underneath it disappointment Mavis left and went back to the manor to finish her decorations. 'Wait wheres john?'

Approaching a guard "Could you get the servant who organized this? his name is john please bring him to me" the guard nodded.

A few minutes later the guard came back with john who looked a bit worried.

'Crap what now?' John thought.

"John" Asher said.

"Yes young master" John said afraid.

"When i order you to do something you it it right?" Asher said his back away from John.

"Yes my lord i have indeed prepared the carriage and the guards"

"Yes you did but where were you?, when someone tells you to do something you do it and also be present when it is finished" Asher sighed and turned around.

"When you do something for me greet me and tell me that it is done, I prefer competent servants not incompetent one, next time you wait here for me Got That?" Asher said leaning in.

John gulped "Yes my lord it won't happen again"

"Make sure that it doesn't and get me two more guards, and be with them when you come back"

"Yes my lord, Right away" John said running off to get more guards 'I am Freaked, i thought i lost my job this time'.

The guards and coachman present couldn't believe what they had witnessed.

'I better not anger the young lord' they all thought.

Gathering two more guards and taking them back to Asher.

"Good now accompany me to the town"

With that Asher and his company of four guards a coach man and a servant went to town.
