Chapter 11 Training

Waking up the next morning Brann eats his breakfast and heads to the courtyard to begin his training.

On the way he was stopped by his mother "Brann Darling your father is coming back today from his trade deal at the capital" Mavis said pulling him into a hug. "But it will take him two weeks to get here, Ahh I can't wait"

"Me too Mother" Brann says with an excited smile, it has been a while since he hasn't seen his father. And his mother seems to be excited for his return.

'She really loves him huh'

'It's sweet in way' Debby said.

Continuing to the courtyard Asher stretches. 'Debby show me the training regimen'

As he says that a screen pops up on the top right of his peripheral vision.

'Huh sounds easy enough'

'Well it was made for you, the regiment as you can see will work every muscle in your body and as my scans indicate body growth and and progress the regiment will change in order to complement your growing body'

'Sounds good lets begin'

Brann followed the training regimen to the letter never doing more than necessary.

He first started with running, doing laps around the Manor, then core workouts with push ups crunches and planks.

After doing so he took a small break drinking a concoction he ordered the chefs to make based on Debby's recipe it was very fortunate that the vegetables and crops here are similar to earth.

Finishing his break he went to his room to tinker with his sword and Runes.

'Now that i think about it isn't Merchant Fredrick a little late?' Brann thought.

'Well we never got any confirmation if he's coming at all'

'Oh don't worry he will, the thought of doing business here in the frontier intrigues him, he is a Merchant after all'.

Suddenly a Knock could be heard on his door. And John announces as he enters "Young Master, Merchant Fredrick is here to see you"

"Good work John, what did my Mother say"

"The Lady of the house asked as to why Mister Fredrick is here, and i told what you told me"

"Good" Brann says ushering in Merchant fredrick.

'John is doing pretty good, he doesn't ask when i tell him to do something anymore'

'What exactly did you tell him?' Debby asked.

'I told him to tell my Mother that the Merchant would like to give me more gifts as to create friendly relations with us'

'So you lied'

'Not really i gave her part of the truth'

'Lying in short'

'Whatever i have a meeting to attend too'

Brann sits down opposite to Merchant Fredrick with John standing behind him.

"I was beginning to believe that you don't have the guts to make good coin Merchant Fredrick"

"Ah well i had to think this through Young Master, this is a risky move but if it proves fruitful then i will gladly take the risks"

"Smart man, Now to business"

"Yes, please tell me what your grand plan is"

Brann leans back and orders John to fetch a document Asher prepared for the meeting and giving it to Merchant Fredrick.

"As you can see this territory doesn't have much to offer besides the bronze mine and forestry, meaning to say my territory doesn't offer much"

"Yes that is clear but what's your plan surely this can't be all of it?"

"Yes indeed it isn't" Asking John to fetch a map of his territory and opening it." As you can see this is my territory, with mountains and forests there isn't much appeal to it, But if you look further what do you see?"

"Just plains and forests outside of it, i can't see much"

"I'm not surprised, I looked into it with the Adventurers Guild and they said that most quests are done in this general location"

"And what does that entail?"

"It means Coin loads and loads of coin"

"How do you mean?"

Brann sighs "Mister Fredrick you've got to stop looking at this like it's some merchandise" Asher stands "Look at it as an enterprise"

"Enterprise?"

"Exactly, I plan- I mean 'You' propose a plan to build an Adventurers settlement there"

"Settlement" Fredrick ponders at the thought.

"And how would we get people to live here? It's technically the frontier"

"That's the point the frontier, and were not looking for people to settle here although that is the plan in the long run, but it's a pit stop for adventurers"

"But why would they go there theirs a Guild here"

"Yes there is a guild here but the quest are over there, So my-, sorry your Idea is to to make a sort of stop or place where Adventurers would go to do their quest without worrying about where they sleep"

"But that'll be costly if you plan to build an Inn there"

"Yes but that's not all were building, we will be inviting Merchants, Blade Smiths and tailors to tend to the needs of the Adventurers, and of course the main attraction will be your wares and items, Helping the Adventurers with their daily necessities"

With that Merchant Fredrick's eyes became wide. "Of course the influx of Adventurers will bring in merchants and people looking for work as well as many businesses"

"Ah now you get it"

"But what of the Adventurers Guild?"

"Oh that's my problem and I'll handle it, all i need is you to do your part to bring in Merchants and the Merchants Guilds influence into the new frontier settlement" Brann again Calls for John to give Fredrick a document.

"The Document has all the steps and instructions for you, follow them to the letter and i mean follow them to the letter and then you can watch the profits and coin come rolling in"

"But it's still dangerous how are we going to hire builders and guards to protect the settlement?"

"Look at the document, the Builders will be hired around the surrounding areas as well as the capital, You will go and ask the Merchants for help for man power and resources in return for favors and less taxes in the Settlement"

"And the guards?"

"The guards will be Adventurers, Quest and jobs will be posted on every Adventurers guild in the region, Rewards will vary but they will be given discount prices for two years if they decided to participate and help".

"You really thought this through?" Fredrick asked shocked and bewildered.

"Well just the broad ideas the finer details will be thought of later but for now do you wish to partake in this risky business with me?"

With that Fredrick Stood up and stuck his hand out "This better work kid"

Brann also stood up "Oh it will work" but before shaking Fredrick 'shand.

"Before you go mister Fredrick will you please sign this form here" Brann said pulling out a piece of parchment. "John the ink please" as John went to get the ink.

"Well you see this whole thing is my idea and i'm letting you take credit from it, and with you and i mean me doing all the work i'm willing to settle for 80% for me and 20% for you , of the total profits"

"20%? that's too little you don't know how well this will go and dealing with the Guild will be dangerous and and. I'm already taking a big risk doing this so how about 40%?" Fredrick said 'The audacity of this child 20% is too low'.

"Take it or leave it mister Fredrick, I know how much this whole business will cost and i know the profits and trust when i say that this is my idea, my company and my project, and arguing with you isn't worth my time, you're not the only merchant that i know and many of them will jump at this opportunity"

"Then I'll just steal your idea, your just a kid after all"

"Yes I'm Just a kid, but the people that waits at your Inn and the woods aren't, I'm sure they'll be able to do something about this don't you think?"

With that threat Fredrick gave up 'Dammit' "Fine it's a deal" he says signing the document.

"Well that concludes the meeting, i do hope that this will be the beginning of a good relationship with the two of us" Brann says with a smile.

'You're one strange kid' Fredrick thought "Of Course i too hope that we will have a good and beneficial relationship, oh and i have what you asked for, more swords books and Rune stones"

"Wonderful" Brann exclaims "John here will pay you and escort you out the door and John please get some servant to bring the items to my room please"

"Yes Young Master"

With that the first step into procuring funds for Brann's experiments has begun.

'I'm thinking of killing him soon, I don't trust him much now'

'Man i totally forgot how ruthless you are regarding a business' Debby says.

'Oh it was nothing but you were a great help without you i don't think it would have gone as well as i hoped'

'Again flattery will get you anywhere'
