9 Fight or Flight (Ben)

I was back in my dorm reading my textbook, when I heard a knock at the door. I put a bookmark on my spot and opened the door. It was Josh.

"Hey Josh. What's up?" I asked. He looked mad, and ready for revenge.

"Wanna help me bust some skulls?" Not exactly the most normal conversation ever. I still smiled though.

"Let's go." I grabbed my maroon jacket and left ready to fight.

We walked around the campus and I didn't know where we were going. I also didn't know who we were going after.

Zap! I dodged a lightning bolt that flew right past my head.

"Volt!" Josh yelled. "What are you doing?"

"Didn't you hear?" Volt said. "We don't need you anymore!"

"Then who'll run you?" Josh countered.

"I will!" Matthew. We looked up and Matthew jumped down on us with a lightning spell and we immediately went into battle mode. We both rolled to the side and immediately started casting spells. The rest of the lightning clan came in and started attacking us.

I casted daggers and threw them at some lightnings. I wasn't aiming for anything vital, just scratching them up. Josh on the other hand, was attacking mercilessly. He shot lightning bolts at their chests and they flew backward.

I hope they're alright

"Ben! Watch out!" A lightning elemental was able to get close enough to me to where he actually shocked me. I gripped my shoulder where I was shocked, trying to lessen the pain. He completely paralyzed my arm.

Upon seeing this, Josh became more infuriated than before. He made hand signs that felt more powerful than usual.

"Fulgur amnis!" Lightning stream. Electricity erupted from his hand and darted from one person to another. They were all flung backward and didn't move afterward. The only one he didn't touch was Matthew.

Matthew charger up his hands. Before he could react, Josh dashed to him and held him by the throat with his left hand.

"I have a few problems with your recent actions," Josh said. "First, when I say there's going to be a meeting, you better show up. Second, no one else is your boss but me. And last..." He started up his right hand, and whispered, "Milia Aviam." His hand erupted into lightning. At first I thought he was bluffing, but if he actually casts the attack, he's dead serious. "Don't you dare touch my sister."

"Josh wait!" I called out. He turned to me, rage in his eyes. "Let him go. He won't be able to go to any more of your meetings if he's dead."

He closed his eyes and breathed slower. He was calming himself down. The electricity stopped, and he opened his eyes, and threw Matthew to the ground. "Tomorrow morning. 7:30. Tell all your friends. Don't be late."

He started walking off and I followed him. We walked in silence. He made a turn toward his dorm and I did the same for mine. My arm was feeling better, so the paralysis shouldn't last too long.

I was in my dorm at last, and layed on my bed. All my stuff was packed, and as I drifted into sleep, I wondered what secrets Josh is hiding.

This must be a dream. This house. This room. There's no way it's real.

The door creaked open and I turned to see the visitor.

Why.

Why.

Please. Not again.

He raised his arm for a strike, but before impact I woke up so suddenly, I sat upright. I was breathing heavily and felt more tired than usual. I checked the time. 7 AM.

I got up and took a shower. The paralysis in my left arm was gone. After my shower I was about to get dressed, but I realized all my clothes were packed.

I unpacked an outfit and packed my dirty clothes. I'll wash it tonight. There was a knock on the door, and I heard a letter fall into the mailbox. I opened it and found a letter from headmaster Green. It had the location of my new home.

I got all my stuff and started heading to the new housing.
