4 Dreams (Ben)

"Anyone there?" I was yelling out, looking for anyone familiar. I found myself in a barren wasteland with arrows littering the floor and no remains except piles of rubble spread throughout.

"My eyes see your worst nightmare. And guess what. It's me." I felt a cold shiver down my spine as I turned to the dark voice. The figure was blurry, so I wasn't able to see who it was. He turned, and I saw he had glowing red eyes. I was breathing heavily now. The dark figure came in and out of focus. Until all I saw was a black void.

I opened my eyes once again to see I was back into my dorm room. I checked the time. 7:30 AM. I stretched out on my bed and did my daily routine.

I took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast and started my dagger practice. About halfway in I heard running in the hallway.

Knock, knock, knock! I walked toward the door and opened it. It was Bianca.

"Ben. Can I. Stay. In your. Room." She was obviously out of breath.

"Sur-" Before I could finish talking, she ran into my room and locked the door. "Uh, Bianca? Are you ok?" I asked.

She lied down on my bed catching her breath. "Sorry, Ben. There were a few lightning elementals chasing me."

"Isn't your brother the boss of the lightning or something like that?" I asked.

"Yeah, but I think they're going rogue."

I gritted my teeth at that statement. "Darn Bas-"

"Calm down," Bianca interrupted. "I'm sure my brother will take care of them." We were silent for a little bit. "How're things with Kelly?"

"Oh, I never told you. We broke up last week."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. What happened?"

I gritted my teeth once again. "She found someone stronger than me."

"Oh..." We were silent once again.

"I think they might have left now," I said.

"Alright then. I'll see you later Ben."

I opened the door for her and she left. After I locked the door behind her, I continued my dagger practice as I heard Bianca knock on Diana's door to start their normal day.

It was lunch time now. I ate my usual meal: Turkey sandwich with a cup of fruit. Afterward I started training. I was trying to pull off a spell called "Thousand Dagger Strike," which is one of the most powerful non-elemental spells out there.

"Hey watch out!"

"Let's go!"

"We need to get out of here!"

I heard mumbling as everyone cleared out of the training court. I looked to see what the cause of all the motion was and saw him. He had black hair, and extremely pale skin. Tyler.

My blood filled with hatred as he sat down to watch me. I continued training yet couldn't concentrate from his presence. I kept on trying but couldn't think straight with him staring at me.

I finally turned around. "What's your deal?" I asked. He looked around him innocently, as if thinking I was talking to someone else.

He looked back toward me and said, "I was curious to see how well you would perform after all of your hard work. So far I'm not impressed."

Not impressed? Not impressed!? I flared with anger. "I challenge you Tyler!"

He simply said, "I accept."

My fingers flung immediately into battle as I casted an axe and threw it at him. He dodged it and snapped him fingers. The Imperial Snap. That only made me even angrier. I continued casting daggers and arrows in a barrage of attacks. Tyler effortlessly either blocked them with the shield or deflected them with his sword.

Time to go big. The thousand dagger strike. "Mille pugione percutiens!" I casted the hand signs perfectly. I thrust my hand into the ground and the daggers flew from my back directly toward Tyler. I saw him smiling.

He threw down his sword and and shield, powered up his hands and flung them at every dagger possible. He was able to deflect most daggers but he was forced to dodge a few of them.

As the dust settled, we were both worn down and Tyler was still smiling. "Why? Why are you still smiling?"

He straightened himself. He smoothly slid his sword into the middle of the shield, which made a shape almost like an emblem.

"It's because I was impressed." He then threw his sword and shield in the air and snapped both fingers. A thick mist covered the area. When it was settled, Tyler was now gone.

"Students and faculty please excuse this interruption." It was the school administration that came up on the intercom. "All freshmen, please go to the stadium now."

I almost completely forgot about element day till now. I headed toward the stadium for the ceremony.
