3 Chapter 3

As Rax was reaching the storeroom, he felt an dense killing intent. It felt like when his sister died, and his father was determined to find the killer.

When he reach the storeroom, he quickly jump away from a spark of electricity. He turn and saw Rex on the ground typing very fast in his computer.

The only time Rex ever used his genes, is when he found ways to hack into his city system and override it.

Rex's gene is related to electricity, now the electricity is boosting his brain power. Due to his lack of control, his power can't differentiate between foe and friend.

"Do you know anyone with genes that can prevent hypnosis ?" He asked without turning his head away from the digital screen.

"In theory, any gene with the right wavelength can disturb thehypnosis effect, or if the person is not exposed to hypnosis for a long time." Rax carefully said, "I need to know how the hypnosis works, and I can disturb the effect if placed in my shadow. I won't sure how long it would take though."

"Can you eat inside your shadow?"

"Yeah, I can create a sub space for the shadow. Like how I use it to travel."

Rex took a deep breath, "Keep my sister inside." He finally look up. "She is under mind control." He's red eyes is burning with rage, "She didn't get kidnap during the chaos, she got kidnap after surviving the car crash. Suffering trauma, no child would ever just openly admit what they been through. No matter how bad it is, even meeting a love one. They need time to adapt and open up, also you were there. Is also hard to think that she could steal such good material of clothings. So is highly she is under control."

"Your EQ is not as low as I heard."

"They are not worth working with." He shrugged, "Rax, keep her in a shadow."

Rax nodded and went to the living room, seeing Rey watching Tv.

Without wasting any time, his eyes turned yellow and shadow escaped from his hand, covering Rey as the shadow merge with his shadow.

"Rax, now is a race against time. The first few attack seem to be them testing the drug. Now they are kidnaping children. It's prove that it works as they can force my sister gene to work."

Sparks seem to surround them as Rax look around him. They seem to be in a blue room, but he can still see the living room.

"No electronic devices works here. I prefer to make enemies underestimate me. My gene is related to technology and not electricity. Those are just effects and can't hurt. Now, when you went to get Rey, I was able to track someone following you. Anything with tech, I am able to detect. There's more corruption in the agency than you think. Thus we were assigned. It makes no sense to send us just because we rarely use it during investigation.

Since that itself is false information to sent the enemy off course. They could have sent people without gene activation since there's investigators that fits. Also they said rely, which we don't. But we still use our gene. I reveal this to you because you earned my trust during this week. Is obvious you really want to help, not just because of money.

I got some leads that might be the headquarters, my sister help will be great but I don't want to put her at risk, she is strong enough to overcome her own trauma. I will believe in her at least."

"I feel dumb." Rax grumbled.

"Is alright, now I'm the brains your the brawn." He smirked, "Let's give them a good show."

The digital wall came down, as Rex went to his computer room. While Rax stayed in the living room and look at the Tv that is still switch on.

Somewhere else

"We lost track of subject 230." A male voice sounded.

In a room filled with many computers, there is many people in uniform pressing on it.

"Pity, if I remember. Her gene is quite useful. No matter, she seem like she is about to break out of our control. Hopefully she just died. We still have better subjects after all." A younger boy voice sounded, as he placed a lollipop in his mouth.

"Sir, before she got disconnected. We discovered two investigators in charge of us. Investigators Rax and Rex."

"Rax and Rex…" He muttered with the lollipop in his mouth, "Didn't Rax arrest one of our test subject before? And Rex… Who is he again?"

"Rex took back control of a subject city."

"Mah. Send subject 029 and 031 to kill them."

"Subject 031? 029?" The worker asked, concern in his voice, "Is it worth sending the top forty?"

"I dislike underestimating potential threat." He's eyes shone green, as he rubbed his spiky brown hair, "Besides, Rax gene is related to shadow. Sending 031 seems to be a good counter. She is able control any genes with her tech. And, 029 will have a chance to exercise."

"Understood." The worker said, as he typed something on his keyboard, "I have notified the two."

"Mm." He nodded, and removed the lollipop from his mouth, licking to sugar from his lip, "The sweet taste of revenge." He chuckled, as he got on his feet. The little light shone on his school uniform with is not buttoned up with a white shirt inside, the tip of the uniform is burnt black. His uniform big enough to cover till his knee.

"Will be mine." He left the room.

"Hm?" A woman saw the notification on her system, "Not too bad, I will have another gene to research now." She removed her lab coat and put on a white table. Taking a watch, she press and metal spread out from it. "Shadow huh. Time to prepare for that." A robot voice sounded from her suit, as she press another button on her wrist.

In a dark room, the sound of chains is constantly echoing.

A light suddenly pierce inside from the wall, as it shone on a man.

He's hair is covered in blood, but it's obvious the colour is still white. His hair long enough to reach his shoulder.

A smirk is always on his face, as he look up. He's grey eyes reflected by the light. He is only wearing a dark brown short, while his upper body is covered by many scars and strange colour.

"A new mission?" He asked, sounding excited, as he moved his arm locked by a chain, but he forced his arm to move further and broke the chain.

"You will be working with 031." A voice from outside said.

"Eh.. I won't be able to absorb the gene?"

"Both of you can spilt it evenly."

"What's the gene?"

"Shadow."

"Oo." His left arm broke the other chain, "I will take it. It's rare to meet a shadow gene. It would be perfect for my light gene." He stood up, his back has a line of white colour. "Half light, half shadow. It's exciting thinking about it." He licked his lips which reveals a sharp set of teeth, "Don't cha think?"

"031 will come pick you up soon."

"Ehh. I still have to wait." He yawned, as he leaned back at the wall. "Wake me up when she here."
