5 Chapter 5:

Henry was escorting me back in the cell. I argued with Eclipse long enough and decided I just wanted back in the cell. He locked the door behind me. Dylan looked like he just saw a demon and Aspen looked guilty.

"Dyl-"

"Shut up," Dylan interrupted angrily.

"Listen-"

"No Blaire... Carla, I mean. Shut up."

"I'm still Blaire," I answered.

"No, you're not," Dylan snapped as he stood up, "You've lied to me this entire time. Who you are, what you can do."

"I had every reason to," I answered.

"Why?"

"Well for starters if I said I was Carla from Lionsville then you would've tried to kill me. And then you wouldn't be alive right now."

"Blaire that's not the point. I mean Carla, ugh I hate you."

"You don't mean that," Aspen whispered.

"You can shut up too, you were in on it!" Dylan snapped at Aspen.

"Leave her alone, she was scared of what I would do so she never said anything, this is all my fault."

"I want answers," Dylan demanded.

"Shoot, I'll answer them."

"Okay, who's wolf boy and what's up with that relationship," Dylan angrily asked.

"His name is Eclipse. I saved him from a bear trap about two years ago," I answered, "And their's no relationship and will never be one, we're just friends."

"And everyone else?" Dylan asked.

"I'll introduce them at dinner."

"Dinner?" Dylan asked, "What happened to the one day job?"

"It's almost 10pm and you're worried about not killing someone tonight."

"Okay, what happened to your other friends."

"I'm pretty sure the guy we're going after is the same one who killed them all."

"The murderer we're going after is the guy who killed all the super freaks on Lionsville?"

I nodded.

"We're going to die then."

"No, it's only going to be me going after him."

"Wow real hero move Carla," Dylan scoffed.

I dramatically put my hand over my chest and did a little bow. "Thank you so much!" I sarcastically said in a squeaky voice, "I'm trying to be a hero so much, that's exactly why I became a paid assassin! Because that's exactly what heroes do!"

"I didn't need the sarcasm."

I scoffed, "Well I didn't need the attitude."

"Well you shouldn't have lied!" Dylan shouted.

"Well you shouldn't have kidnapped me!"

"Well you shouldn't have-"

"Stop!" Aspen ordered in a deep voice.

"Carla, no you really shouldn't have lied to him. But Dylan, you can't deny the fact you'd be trying to kill her if you had weapons on you. Carla you need to drop the sarcasm, and Dylan you need to drop the attitude. Nobody likes the situation we're in right now, you don't need to make it worse by bickering." Aspen growled.

I tightened my lips in anger and looked at the floor. She was right.

"You're right Aspen," Dylan said in a peaceful manner, "except one thing."

We both looked at him as he pulled a knife out of his pocket. And other out of his boot. After that came a gun from his waistband, another pistol from an ankle holster, and another three knifes from the back of his waist band. Finally he pulled I slightly bigger gun out of the back of his shirt. He laid them all out in the center of the cell.

He looked directly at me, "If I wanted to kill her I would've already."

--

Eclipse escorted us to the Cabin. I slowed the closer we got to it. Even Eclipses gentle nudges weren't moving me. I had frozen. A million memories rushed back as I looked at the house. Memories of us all sitting on the floor of the living room because there weren't enough seats. We played card games. We created friendships where some had died. Some of my friends fell in love with eachother in that house. Paige and Ryder. Nathan and Hannah. Axel and Gena. Liam and Kathy... maybe, I was never sure about those two.

I felt warm tears stream down my face. For the first time in an entire year, I had finally seen enough, done enough, to finally feel something.

My leg hurt, yeah, but that only distracted myself from the void in my head for a few minutes.

Seeing Eclipse sparked no emotion. Seeing Eclipse cry started to open a door. And now that door was pouring tears.

I fell to my knees and wept into the ground infront of me. I broke down... hard.

Everything finally fell into place. I had denied the truth for an entire year. And knowing I was about to walk into the house I shared with my dead best friends is what finally made everything click into place.

They died.

It was my fault.

And they all died.

I few seconds of silence in my brain passed.

My head shot up in realization.

"How was that my fault," I whispered to myself as I looked at the house.

And then it clicked.

I've been off, running around, giving justice to those who wish for it. I've been away from my own flesh and blood family because I was blaming myself for an event that I couldn't control. An event where I couldn't save everyone. I was being attacked with anxiety and guilt for a crime I didn't commit.

Good job devil. Really, great job. You really had me blind for a while there. Sadly for you though, I'm coming for everything you've taken from me. And I repent for the atrocities I've committed myself. But you sir have no power over me anymore. I break those chains, I am a child of God, and there's nothing you can do to stop me from bringing my family back. You say I can't beat this war, and that I can't withstand your demons. Well I'm screaming that I am this war, and there's nothing in hell that you can throw at me that can stop me now.

And if I was going to be fighting hell to save my friends, then so be it.

I'd walk through hell itself to ensure their safety.
