7 Chater 6

We walked up the steps of the cabin and upon opening the doors I recognized everything. This was the house some of my visions were in, down to the furniture and the rugs. As soon as I stepped in I had a gun pointed to my temple.

"You're trespassing," said the man behind the gun. He, just like Hannah, seemed younger. He had short brown hair and defined facial features. The patches of hair on his face told me that he was probably around the age of sixteen and trying to look older.

"Last time I heard you guys are squatting here so who is truly the person trespassing," I strongly said as I took a deep breath. Hannah was still behind me and hadn't even walked through the door yet.

The boy scoffed at my comment and put the gun down, "My name is Axel."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Carla." I introduced, "Where are your parents?"

"They went on a supply run and haven't been home in a while," he answered as he put the gun away in his blue jeans.

"Would you please not tell the stranger everything," A taller guy said as he walked in from the other room, "You've got a lot to learn."

Hannah creeped in from behind me and stood next to me.

"So you are you here to rob us? To kill us?" The taller guy asked in a mean and sarcastic tone.

"Believe it or not I'm not a gang member," I sarcastically said back as I looked down to prove the point that I was five feet tall and obviously not scary.

He scoffed and looked at me, "I didn't think so, you're not scary enough to be a murderer."

"You'd be surprised," Carter blankly stated from behind me. I'm not sure how long he was standing there but his voice made me jump.

The taller brother nodded at me, "Nice."

"So why are you guys here?" Axel asked.

"Just trying to survive," Hannah answered.

"By the looks of it you have no adult supervision, and we do so it looks like we're staying whether you like it or not," Carter declared with a smirk on his face.

The taller brother pulled a gun out and pointed it at me.

"Leave. Now," He ordered.

"You think that tiny .30 caliber bullet is going to make me leave? That's cute," I scoffed.

"Way to make friends," Carter sarcastically joked from behind me in a light an unrude manner.

"Trust me kid, you don't want to get on our bad side," I threatened.

He shot the gun and it went straight through me. I turned and looked at Carter. He was holding the bullet in his hand and handed it to me. I angrily walked over to the older brother and ripped the gun out of his hand. He stood still, speechless of what just happened. I replaced the hand that was holding the gun with the bullet he shot at me.

Carter had taken the gun from the younger brother and handed it to me. I stuck them both on my hips and turned back to them.

"Anything you want to say?" I dramatically asked.

"Sorry," Axel said.

"What the heck are you people?" The older brother asked.

"We'll have story time at dinner tonight, we're having steak and potatoes tonight. I suggest you go inform everyone else in the house that we're making dinner so they dont make any other plans," I said with a tone that could shatter stones.

Both boys immediately booked it for the staircase.

I looked back at Carter who was leaning against the doorframe. He seemed somewhat upset or worried, or some kind of sad emotion like that.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I'm just worried about you, you're not acting like the Carla I know," he answered.

"I'm just fighting myself on my feelings about all these situations we are being put in,"

He response was merely a nod and then walked off outside. I shook the negative thoughts out of my head and watched the boys walk down the stairs followed by a blonde haired girl. She looked about a year younger than Axel.

"Howdy," I jokingly greeted as they made their way down the stairs and infront of me.

The girl scrunched her lips and gave me a look that could kill someone.

"Are you going to try to shoot me like your brothers did?" I asked.

Her facial expression didn't change, but she also didnt answer.

"Well then. Noted," I responded. I grabbed my radio from my back pocket and pulled it to my face, "What's the status on bringing everyone else to town?"

Liam's voice broke the few second silence through the radio, "We're on our way back to the town now, we'll be there in thirty minutes or so."

"Okie dokie, thank you for the update," I answered with a smile he couldn't see.

"Carla?" Nathan's voice didn't come from the radio but from the doorway behind me.

I turned to see him, he looked pretty shaken.

"What's wrong Nathan," I softly asked.

"Its the gang, they're coming. Twenty people. Their leader in centered. We need orders," Nathan informed me with a nervous expression. His voice didn't show his nervousness but his eyes definitely did.

"Do not engage unless shots are fired,"  I answered, "Its a smaller group then last time, she probably just wants to talk." I turned to the little family and Hannah, "You guys need to go upstairs and hide."

"But-" Hannah started.

"Go. Now," I ordered in a stern voice. My body language at this point shouted for them to listen or something might happen but I was truly worried for them. My friends were superhumans, I didn't have to worry too much about them but I did worry for the humans that we took under our wings.

I pulled the radio back to my face, "Liam I need you to take our people to the nearest forest by you and hunker down in the brush. Everyone who is currently in town needs to meet me by Hannah's house asap."

No answer came over the radio but I just assumed everyone heard me. Nathan and I charged out of the house towards Hannah's house in a sprint. We were met by Paige and Madelyn who both seemed to have a mild nervousness to them. I could tell I shared the same look.

"Where is Carter?" I asked.

The girls shrugged their shoulders and Nathan just shook his head at me.

I grabbed my radio, "Carter are you there?"

No answer.

"Carter are you okay?" I added.

Still no answer.

"Dang it," I sighed as I put my radio back. My mind raced a mile a second as I though of every possible outcome.

A loud horn blew in the distance which broke me from my thoughts and made us all turn our heads. The gang's leader was strutting down the center road. She was surrounded by people just like Nathan explained. The gang members in the front were carrying heavy guns while the ones towards the back were holding pistols.

I stepped out into the road and crossed my arms. She said something to the people in the front that caused them to move to the sides and stopped. She walked to meet me. In a casual way she stopped infront of me and held a hand out to shake. I looked at her hand and then back up at her face, refusing to shake her hand.

"What are you doing here?" I blankly asked as I placed a hand on the handle of the gun on my hip.

"Peace," she answered.

"Wonderful," I answered with a irritated tone. I accompanied my answer with a slight smile, "Are you planning on shooting us again as a sign of peace?"

"You and I both know we are no match against you guys and your powers," She mumbled so her people wouldn't hear.

Irritation and annoyance started to bubble deep in my chest. I looked away from her for a second and then over at where my friends were a few seconds ago. They were gone. I looked back at the woman who was smirking down at me.

"What is your name?" I asked as I tucked one hand in my pocket. I pulled a pebble out and fiddled with it in my fingers.

She glanced at the pebble and then back at me, "My name is Valerie, what is yours."

"Carla," my one word answer was laced with aggression.

"I wonder where the fast one is?" Valerie sarcastically asked with smirk across her face.

My heart froze.

"Where is he?" I angrily growled as I placed my left hand on the pistol I took.

"The correct question is, where are they," she glanced over to where my friends were no longer standing.
