6 Chapter 5

Kathy walked over and grabbed Hannah by her arm and pulled her outside the house. She thrashed slightly but soon realized that Kathy was way more powerful.

I was dragging Clyde by his foot a few meters behind Kathy. She had already sat Hannah down by the time I got there. I dramatically dropped Clyde's ankle and his leg hit the floor with a thud.

He was awake at this point and didnt seem happy. Hannah scrambled right over to his side and curled up against his arm.

"I want to know who you guys are," Clyde demanded, "And what you guys are."

"Well Clyde," I started, "If you stop shooting us and start being cooperative then we'll start explaining."

"Are you part of the Vengeance Gang? Are you guys one of their new experiments?" Hannah asked, "They took my sister, have you seen her?"

"No we're not part of a gang," Carter answered, "And we'll try our best to locate your sister for you."

Hannah nodded, Carters answer must've been what she wanted to hear.

"We came from an island far away, it housed our families and friends for the last fifteen years and the leader was a horrible human," Kathy explained.

"We left and came here hoping to get a better life," I added, "Apparently though, this gang you speak of hates us."

Clyde looked at Hannah and then back at me, "What's your names."

"I'm Carla, that is Carter, Kathy, that's Liam, Nathan, and finally that's Madelyn."

"Are you holding us hostage?" Clyde asked.

"No, but I need to ask: Is there anyone else who lives in this town?" I responded peacefully. I didn't want to create anymore enemies.

Clyde nodded and pointed at the cabin at the far end of the town, "A family moved into that house a few days ago, it's two adults and three teenagers."

I crouched down and got in Clyde's face, he gave me the same terrified look that he did before I knocked him out. I could tell he was in pain from the bruising of his face. I gently put my hand over where I punched him and he winced in pain from the light touch.

"Thank you," I softly whispered as I healed the bruises. I took my hand away and walked over to Carter, turning my back on Clyde.

"Why did you heal him? He shot you!" Carter asked.

"The information he gave was much more important than the fact he shot me," I answered, "Forgive and Forget."

Carter peeked around me and I turned to see what he was looking at. Hannah and Clyde were both standing. Hannah was examining Clyde's face and mumbling some words to him.

"What did you do?" Clyde shakily said as he felt his unbruised face.

"Consider yourself forgiven for shooting me," I answered before walking in the direction of the cabin.

A hand gripped my arm and stopped me in my tracks. I turned to see Hannah's half teared eyes looking at me. "I want to stay with you," she said through a single tear rolling down her face.

I smiled at her and pulled her into a hug, "If that's what you want. It's your choice."

She pulled away and looked at me, she was about my height but at least twenty pounds lighter; that's saying shes underweight because I'm roughly a hundred pounds.

She nodded, "I'm safer with you guys."

"Probably," I laughed, "It took me one kick to break that lock on your door."

She managed a smile and distantly turned to glance at Clyde who seemed extremely angry.

"So what's the relationship between you two?" I asked.

"My missing sister's boyfriend. He's been protecting me since she disappeared," Hannah answered.

I nodded, "He's not too friendly huh."

"He's extremely overbearing," Hannah answered, "I'm seventeen and he acts like I'm seven years old."

"Maybe he just doesn't want to lose the only family he has left," I answered as I glanced over to my friends and then back at Hannah.

"Where is your family?" Hannah asked.

"They're," I paused and then shook my head at my feet, "They're my family." I looked over at my friends, "The rest of our people arent really our families, they're people like us that took us in when we were kids."

"So you're adopted?" Hannah asked.

"No," I promptly answered, "Well yeah kind of. But we pretty much raised ourselves. After we got to a certain age our leader pulled us away from our families and put all the kids over the age of 10 in their own house."

"So you were forced to grow up?"

"Yeah," I paused again and looked at her, "You could say that."

"So that's why you're so close with them?" Hannah asked.

I took a deep breath, "We helped eachother through anything and everything. They're my best friends and my family."

"So you guys don't have any blood family?" Hannah asked.

"We do," I answered, "I have an older brother. Carter has Nathan, Madelyn has Liam, and Kathy..." I paused, "Kathy's brother, Isaiah, left the island long before we did. We dont know what happened to him."

There was a silence that filled the air.

"Are you guys aliens?" Hannah asked to lighten the mood.

"No," I laughed, "We dont really know how we got our powers, the adults refuse to tell us."

"What powers do you all have?" Hannah asked.

I changed the subject, "I'm about to go into that cabin and make some allies, are you coming with me?"

"Sure," she answered.

"Okay," I responded, "If someone has a gun then dont stand behind me."

"Why?" Hannah asked.

"Projectiles tend to just fly through me," I said as I started walking towards the cabin.

"My mom died," Hannah said, I'm guessing she was trying to create small talk.

"I'm sorry," I answered.

"She wasnt allowed to have more than one child," Hannah added, "It was my fault that they killed her."

I stopped and looked at her, "It was not your fault, you did not ask to be made." I turned and started walking again, "God just gave you a sad spin on your testimony. Probably to teach you how strong you are."

"God?" Hannah asked.

"Jesus, son of God," I added.

I looked over at her, she looked utterly confused.

"You dont know who Jesus is?" I asked.

"Was that someone back on your island?" Hannah asked.

I looked at the sky and then back at her. I stopped and looked at her, "Jesus is the son of God; the creator of the universe. God sent Jesus to earth to save the world from their sins and so they can go to heaven after they die."

She asked questions and I answered them to the best of my ability. Her mother died when she was little and nobody ever told her about the creator of the universe, or anything at all for that matter. She didn't know coordinates, she didnt know what rain does to the earth, she barely knew what the ocean was. Did the world go into nuclear war because Christianity wasnt being taught anymore? Was it a Great Flood situation? Was that why we were on the island?

After I realized I'd been talking about this for twenty minutes I decided to end my little preaching session and start walking for the cabin again. We had gotten pretty close to the cabin by the time Hannah started talking again.

"So, is my sister in heaven?" Hannah asked.

I looked at Hannah, something seemed really familiar about her face and I couldn't pin my finger on what it was. A second later I realized what it was. The black hair, the eyes, the facial features.

"I don't think your sister is dead Hannah. I do however think your sister is closer than you think," I answered.

I only had one thought that was running through my mind: I need to ask Clyde some important questions about his girlfriend.
