2 Chapter 1:

"Hey, Nathan," I softly interrupted their conversation without breaking concentration on the amusement park.

"Yeah Carla?" Nathan answered with slight confusion in the tone of his voice. He pushed his fluffy brown hair out of his face which exposed his scrunched face; he was obviously confused at why I had interrupted.

"Equador doesn't have any amusement parks on the beach." My voice was monotone enough and I even went as far to point at the beach we were approaching.

Carter stood up and walked to the front of the boat, he peered off to the beach. The rest of us stood up. Everyone but Carter were still in the general area that they were sitting.

"Where are we then?" Kathy frantically asked, her voice was laced with fear. She nervously switched her weight to either foot. She was anxiously fiddling with her curly black hair.

"We have bigger problems," Carter called from the front of the boat. We looked over at him when he spoke and followed his outreached arm that was pointing to the shoreline where a group of fifty some people were standing. We all walked towards Carter to get a better look, Liam and Kathy were talking but I was more concerned about these strangers.

"They're probably just wondering who we are," I said in a hopeful manner. We just need to speak to them and explain what's going on and why we're trespassing.

"We're going to have to trespass on their territory to talk with them and they're probably not going to be happy," Nathan added.

"We're almost there what are we going to do?" Paige asked. She had thrown her long blonde hair in a ponytail and for the first time in a while I was able to see her green eyes.

"We're going to be peaceful, we're not going to fight them, we're on they're territory so we need to be respectful," I ordered, "Do not, please do not be rude or hostile."

Carter turned and looked at me; he seemed shocked. His blue eyes instantly jumped from the beach to me. When I looked at everyone else, they all seemed to share his shocked expression. Everyone but Paige: who seemed somewhat proud.

"Hostility will create an enemy and that's not the first thing we need to make as soon as we set foot on the mainland," I added in a powerful tone. Somehow, Carter seemed more surprised. If that was even possible.

I have to say I like this feeling of actually having a say so in anything.

"Yes ma'am," Liam laughed. He playfully shook his head.

I smiled and cracked up giggling. "Sorry I must've sounded a little harsh."

"Nope, you sounded like a leader," Madelyn surmised. She was pulling her backpack onto her back. I still have no idea how she fits so much stuff in it.

I looked to see everyone nodding in agreement to Madelyn's statement.

"So Carla, what's our next move?" Nathan asked. He moved his hair again and then leaned against the fence.

"Well," I replied, "We need to get to shore, then we need to create an alliance with these people. Dont show your powers, it'll probably freak them out. We'll work from there."

"What if they attack us?" Kathy asked worriedly. She was still shifting her weight and messing with her hair. It was a side of her I hadn't seen in a while.

"Dont kill them just immobilize them," I promptly answered.

Everyone nodded. Carter moved his blonde hair out of his face and nodded once more at me.

"The key is to not make enemies," I added before sitting down against the fence. I pulled my waist length, reddish brown hair back into a ponytail similar to Paige's; I wanted to get my hair out of my face.

Everyone else talked amongst themselves but I just sat there and thought to myself. Then something hit me.

It was the floor.

I passed out into another vision.

There was fire, a lot of fire. It surrounded everything. I saw myself. For the first time I wasnt in my own body. I wasnt in anybody's body though, I was just floating there. I saw Liam with his arms wrapped around me, he was holding me. Myself, I wasnt... I wasnt myself. I freaked out. That was my body but I could tell it wasnt my mind. She struggled in Liam's arms. All the sudden and yet very slowly she placed her hand on his arm and then fire blasted him over the cabin and out of sight. "What the-" I thought as I saw her create another fireball and blast a tree. Since when was I able to make fire blasts?

I woke back up and Carter was next to me. He seemed confused and worried.

"You okay Carla?" Carter asked as he held a hand out to help me up, "What was your vision about?"

I placed my hand on the now pulsating bump on the side of my head. Slowly a headache started to form and I lightly pressed my fingers on the bump to release the pressure on my skull.

"I'm okay, the vision," should I tell them? I might've been fighting them for a good reason, "it was a fire, a big one that engulfed most of the forest."

"Oh," Carter breathed out, "Well I can decimate flames so we'll be okay." He smiled and made a funny face to make me smile.

I faked a smile so he would stay happy. My head was pounding in pain.

"Anyhoo, you should know you were only out for a few seconds that time. At this rate you'll be having visions in just the blink of an eye." Carter cheerily said as he placed his hand on my shoulder. I guess he realized I was faking a smile. Crap.

I nodded and smiled, "And hopefully soon they're not all creepy or destructive."

"With our lives?" Madelyn jokingly scoffed, "probably not." I looked over at her. She was sitting on the deck and Kathy was French braiding her hair into pigtails.

"What's up with the beach bums?" I asked as I glanced over to notice we were approaching them pretty quickly.

A loud crack and scraping sound erupted into the air followed by screaming from below deck. Carter was gone in a flash and the rest of us ran as quickly as we could downstairs. I led as I shoved the doors open and pretty much jumped down all the stairs. The hall was filling with water. Kathy rushed past me and started ushering people up the stairs.

"Looks like we hit some rocks," Nathan said after rolling his pants legs up to avoid them getting soaked.

"Is it deadly?" Liam asked as we trudged through the now ankle high water that was rising quickly.

"We wont sink any deeper, the rocks are keeping us in place," Madelyn answered.

"Madelyn's right," Nathan added.

Penelope was freezing the water beneath her so she could stand on it without getting wet. She slid over to us and placed her hands on the ice beneath her to continue to freeze it while talking to us, "I used hard ice to freeze the opening that was created."

"Good job, I need you to go up on the deck," I happily ordered with a smile so I didnt seem too harsh. Penelope smiled back and nodded before giving me a hug and going upstairs. I turned at the sound of a bellowing cow and saw Carter leading one up the stairs.

"You guys help Kathy with the people, Nathan come with me. I need you to help me with the animals," I said accompanied with an arm wave in the direction of the livestock part of the boat. We had them in the back of the boat which was six meters of now calf deep water away. I trudged through the water towards the back of the boat. The water turned from clear to a disgusting brown and I instantly knew that the cow pens were flooded too. I turned to see Nathan who was gagging at the sight and smell of the dirty water. I was covering my mouth to stop myself from doing the same thing. An adorable small black and white calf was the first animal I saw as I walked in. He was struggling to keep his head above the deep water. I immediately walked faster in the now waist high water. If I didnt get to the bull calf quickly then he'd drown. The water was rising quickly.

I clicked my tongue to get the calf's attention. His ears perked up. "Its okay baby boy, I'm here to help. Come here baby."

He struggled to move, as he jerked in my direction. His foot was stuck in something. I started to swim in the deeper water because there was no use in walking anymore. The calf's mother nudged him: attempting to get him out of the now dangerously high water. Her distressed bellows were heart wrenching.

I tried not to cry for her; her baby was stuck and I cant imagine how it feels to know your baby is stuck and cant do anything about it.

Nathan copied my swimming motion and grabbed onto the mother cow's halter to pull her out of the room. She was hesitant at first but after a few seconds she started walking with Nathan. She bellowed for her baby the entire time and I could still hear her cries after Nathan got her upstairs.

I gagged a few more times at the thought of what I was about to do. "I am so jumping off the boat after this." I told the baby cow as I held my breath and dunked my head under the water. I followed the calf's leg with my hand and found that the floorboard had broken and his foot was stuck in it. I placed my hand where his foot was stuck and opened the hole to get the baby unstuck. As soon as it started to open, the calf started thrashing at the release of pressure on his foot.

He pulled himself out of the hole and started a swimming motion. I stood up and the water was to my chest now and the baby was having trouble keeping his head up. I picked up the heavy baby in my arms and struggled to keep myself above water. I went underwater and put the calf on my shoulders to better carry him. I help onto his front legs with one hand and his back legs with the other. He was licking my hand which I thought was disgusting considering what it was covered in. I gagged again as I walked up the stairs and laid the baby up on the deck. Everyone looked at me as I collapsed onto the deck. The baby pranced right over to his mom who was being held by Liam.

And as I promised: I jumped off the boat into the clean salt water
