17 Chapter 16

The room fell silent and everyone else shared the same facial expression: pure terror.

Were they scared of me?

"You mean to tell me nobody detained Valerie?" I formed my words carefully so they wouldn't sound vicious with the angry tone I had.

Carter shook his head.

I grabbed handfuls of my hair and tightly gripped to them as I started to pace back and forth.

"Carla we need you to calm down," Nathan said in a soothing voice. It wasn't helping me.

"No," I snapped, "You guys let the one person on the entire planet who actually poses a threat to us go. Who knows where she's at now!"

"Carla-"

I interrupted Carter by grabbing my radio and pulling it to my face. "This is Carla and I'm calling for a council meeting in the new white building NOW," I practically yelled into the radio.

"Why does she scare you so much?" Carter asked, again trying to soothe me. I didnt answer and just walked out the door. I walked to where the platform was earlier and violently slapped my hand on the ground. A big white marbled building formed infront of me, building from the ground up. When I was finished I grabbed a few pebbles off the ground and walked in. With the pebbles I made a table and nine chairs.

Ryder was the first one in and then everyone else followed.

"Carla what-" Ryder started.

"Shut up and sit down," I rudely interrupted.

I was mad at all of them. I had Valerie weak enough that Sage could've detained her, and the fact that she's out there somewhere terrified me.

Ryder shot me an irritated look and then sat down. I sat at the head of the table and Carter sat next to me, then it was Sarah, Axel, Ryder, Madelyn, Liam Nathan, Kathy, and Hannah completed the circle by sitting on the other side of me. Madelyn's seat was directly across from me.

"Wha-" Paige started.

"Stop," I interrupted, "You are the only one at this table that I'm not mad at just because you were still locked up in a prison cell."

"So why are we here?" Liam asked.

Everyone else was sitting but me. I was furious.

"Why are you scared of Valerie?" Carter asked again.

"Because-" I started, "Because I am, let's leave it at that."

"No," Carter said as he angrily slapped the table, "You're going to share your worries, you called us in here, you're being rude to everyone else who talks, and we're on the council too. You lost the right to keep worries to yourself when you denounced yourself as leader and decided to have a council system instead."

He had a point.

"So talk," Carter demanded.

"Valerie is as powerful as me if not more," I started to explain as I sat down.

"Why don't you remove her powers?" Hannah asked.

"Because she can copy powers like how I can, she has to kill the person though."

"How did she get those powers?" Liam asked, "She wasn't ever on the island."

"Well," I looked at Kathy but quickly changed my glance so she wouldn't notice, "There's only one person I've ever met that has powers anywhere close to mine."

"Ian-" Kathy whimpered. Tears started to stream down her face so she covered her face with her hands.

The room fell silent.

Kathy stopped crying all the sudden and looked straight at me, "Where is she?"

"I don't know," I answered.

"I'm gonna find her and I'm going to rip her arms out of their sockets," Kathy growled. Catalina genty laid her head on Kathy's lap to help soothe her. Her anger started to slowly die.

"I'm going to find her and take all of her powers, we just need to hold her down long enough," I explained.

"No Carla we're going to find her, there's no I'm going to go do anything myself anymore. We're a family and we're going to do everything together," Axel said in an inspiring tone.

"Yeah Carla," Hannah repeated as she ran her hand on my arm like she was comforting me, "We're a family."

I nodded, "I've got some ideas for the humans on the team. Who wants to be superhuman?"
