21 Meeting someone new

Damon was sitting against the wall, holding his back. Chloe, staring at her lifeless parent's bodies. The window smashed from where Cody was thrown out the window by me. Everything came back, what I did came back. I grabbed my hair in frustration and pain for hurting my mate. For leaving my cousin in the same mess I was in as a kid. For hurting a friend. I couldn't take it. I ran out of the house, transforming into a wolf in the middle of the pack streets. My brain pounding, setting every ounce of me on fire.

I couldn't be forgiven. I don't want to be forgiven. I got out of the pack territory as howls followed my ears. Not knowing what direction to go into, I run towards a mountain. Among the howls was my Alpha, my mate. Calling me. Ignoring the desire to run back to him, I followed the trail up the mountain.

Hearing movement a few feet in front of me, I halted, trying to find where the noise was coming from, growling in all directions. I could tell there was more than one. One after another silhouettes of humans popped up. About ten in total, inching closer to me. Ready to pounce at any moment, Esmon started whispering. Family. No bad intentions. Listen to them.

I laid on the floor, pouting. They came closer, all white and silver-haired. Blue and black eyes. A quick surge of pain, like a needle, went through my arm. Darkness swallowing me.

I couldn't understand what was going on. My Mate shifting between wolf and dragon features. Killing his aunt and uncle. Throwing Cody out the window. What could make a person do that who is as sweet as him?! Reinforcements came in, from people hearing my mates aunt scream. Warriors coming in and out. Medics helping Cody and me.

Even though my back was badly bruised, I pushed past the pain and got up. Hearing a soft music play, I followed it towards a teal music box with a name sewn onto it. I picked it up, looking at its content. This was the box he was holding when he came down.

Reading how his Aunt and Uncle killed his parents, how their daughter Chloe, was bought in human trafficking, Half witch half werewolf. I understand now. I looked at their bodies in disgust. A passing warrior came by, and I handed him the letters. I got outside and howled. Hoping my mate would come back.

Nothing. No reply. I was in to much pain to go and transform to track him down. I sat on the edge of the steps outside. Unshed tears threatening to fall.

A hand squeezed my shoulder reassuringly. I turned around to see the little girl, Chloe, standing behind me. "It's okay, my brother is safe. He's with people who will help him." With a big smile on her face, she got into Cody's car.

Shocked at what she said, and her smile, I walked towards the car and asked. "What should I do next?" "Don't look for him, he'll find you when he's ready".
