1 Prologue

The ride through the shadowy abyss of the gate took nearly an entire hour. Surveying the Armoured Carrier Vehicle, (or APC), Captain Mitchell Brooks could see all eight operators sitting side by side on each row on the cramped space of the APC and could tell most of his operators are nervous even if their faces are all covered by their masks. Despite all of their past operations in the middle east and beyond, none of it matters when it comes to this. The Captain then set his sights at one of his operators who was sitting beside him, tightly gripping his M249 machine gun.

"Theo" The captain called. "What are you feeling about this whole situation?"

Theo slowly turn his head to face his boss with confusion. "Pardon sir?"

The captain gave a slight smirk under his mask, "You and your brother are possibly the only people in the whole team who are interested in this kind of stuff."

Abruptly another operator busted out laughing, it was Sergent Scarlet Macmillan, one of the team's top marksman and Close Quarter Combat specialist. "Sir, you should see his quarter when you get the chance. I swear I've seen some pretty nasty shi-"

"Shut your gob, Scarlet." Theo intrudes.

"Oi!" the Scottish Marksman angrily shouted, "Don't use my first fucking name in-mission ok!"

"I mean everyone calls me by my first name." Theo protested.

But then another operator intervenes in the conversation, "Theo isn't your real name." Theo turned his head to face the far corner of the APC to meet his eyes on Lance Corporal Tom Cook, his older twin brother, "You can't even remember your first name."

Theo huffed, "Well, that was the firework's fault."

"I swear that God hates you so much that he rejected you straight back to earth. Because there's no way you should be alive by this point." his older twin coldly replies. "I swear he's cursed."

Captain Mitchell elbows the young operator on the shoulder and quickly brought Theo back to his attention, "Hey you haven't told me your answer."

Theo gave a curious thought before replying, "Well, I and my brother had always been into Anime and fantasy. And I was about to head to a convention before all the shit happened. But it's kind of a mixed feeling, some parts of me are filled with pleasure but after Ginza..." He places both hands on his machine gun and lower his head, "I just want to let fly at those assholes."

The captain certainly was surprised by the sudden coldness of that last sentence. Despite knowing the Lance corporal since commanding both him and his twin in Afghanistan, the captain always thought Theo to be the joker of the squad, regularly making jokes sometimes unnecessarily to ease the tension and trauma. But what he'd hear was nothing like the Theo he remembers.

"I just hoped this is not another London incident." a voice Interups the Captain's thoughts.

Theo then raised his head to see another operator who was seemingly sharpening his Kukri knife with his bare knuckles. It was Sergent Tej Thapa, the medic of the squad. Knowing him, Theo both fears but admire his skill in combat, but his violent tendencies tend to keep the young operator distant from him.

Theo got first had experienced what Tej was capable of during their operations in Afghanistan, but during Ginza, Theo had to watch Tej brutally murdered two soldiers in cold blood after witnessing them attempting to forcefully rape a woman. Seeing the two soldiers die was a horrific experience but he'd seen the Nepali sergeant done much, much worse than that. Despite all of the sensation of unease, Theo had managed to find a sense of satisfaction as the medieval warriors cry in pain whiles their pool of blood litters the concrete floor. Theo never told anyone else about the incident knowing fully well that a court marshal would be waiting for the Nepali operator.

Captain Mitchell faces the sergeant with a hint of concern. "I'm sure ASTAS got things right this time. According to them, this gate is capable of maintaining its form."

The Nepali gave the Captain an anxious look as he sheathed his Kukri back into its scabbard. The captain knew that upon hearing that name his mood would suddenly plummet. Not long after the infamous London Rift incident, the Nepali Sergent had found a strong distrust for ASTAS, (Anti-Supernatural, Termination, And Security). But the Captain doesn't blame him for his reasons.

The Sergeant gave a brief sigh before replying, "Let's hope that your right captain."

The captain kept silent on the last sentence, knowing by experience on the situation from two years ago, it was no guarantee that information from ASTAS would be a hundred per cent accurate. But the only information that matters the most right now was that this mission is the main priority.

Recently his country had declared war. In a matter of fact, the world had declared war.

About a week ago, a mysterious Gate had taken form in the middle of Ginza, Japan. And during that, a massive army of medieval soldiers, trolls, elves, and dragons had attacked and kidnapped the people of Ginza. But fortunately, a combined force of Japanese, American, British, Webïrúian, and Russian had push the invading forces back into the gate.

Now with plans of a massive counter-attack into the other world, the leaders of all Coalition forces have dispatched some of their finest soldiers into the other side of the gate with one goal.

"Total Chaos"

The UKSF has sent the Special Operations Unit and other Special Forces into the other side along with other special forces from other countries in the Coalition and is fighting under one name.

Taskforce- 666, AKA the Devil's hands.

As the APC driver could see the light from the other side of the gate, he immediately radioed in the Captain to which he signals everyone to check their equipment and prepare for deployment. As expected all equipment was set and all operators flip over their GPNVG quadruple lenses night vision goggles.

"This is Black Buck-1 to Firefly Actual. We've passed waypoint two." the APC driver announced through the radio.

Mitchell exhales his breath as he readied his rifle and placed it close to his chest. "Copy Black Buck-1."

APC finally exited the Gate after a long hour ride, the bright full moon shines bright as it illuminated the landscape of this foreign world. The gate lay on the centre on a sole hill which was surrounded by nothing more but a peaceful meadow. The ground illuminated purple as unknown forces are visible to the human eyes.

Soon the Vehicle would stop and Captain Mitchell gave the order to deploy. The Operators busted out of the APC and hastily the team went to secure a circular ten-meter perimeter around the APC. Quickly and carefully, all operator's scanned the surrounding area and immediately report in 'all clear.'

Captain Mitchell reach for his radio, "Black Buck-1 area is secure, Firefly is moving out over."

"Copy Actual." the APC then slowly traverse towards the gate. "Good luck." the driver added.

Captain Mitchell watches the APC disappearing into the endless void of the gate before turning his sights towards the bottom of the hill. It was pure luck that they got past the gate without the enemy being alerted but spotted or not Mitchell and his team were here to complete the mission no matter what.

Because this is a war. A War of two separate worlds.

Thus they fought there...

Thus the coalition fought there...
