19 Chapter 19: Bait

“They are going to come here, looking for you. Either because they are mad about the article, or because they know you have come to see me.”

Whitney mulled over his words for a moment. “So, they’re coming here?” She doubted that. “What happens then?”

“I destroy them.” For a moment, her father reminded her of a villain from a James Bond movie. His eyes flashed darkness, and she could have sworn his teeth had lengthened.

A chill went down her spine. She blinked, but her father just stood in front of her. “And how do you plan to do that? They’re big guys.” And ex-military.

“Easily, Whitney.” Before her eyes, her father transformed. She blinked, thinking she was seeing things. His teeth became larger and sharper. His fingers elongated, while his stature became smaller. His skin turned a green she didn’t think was healthy, and he stood in front of her, snarling.

She backed a few steps towards the door. The wings on his back flapped at her, but he didn’t approach.
