2 Chapter 1

Awakening I awoke to the sound of machines, flickering lights, and a blue screen. Its brightness blinding me. Ignoring it I continued to stare at the ceiling. I felt alone devoid of everything.

My parents died… But why? They weren't bad people so why? Why were they taken away from me? Was god punishing me? Was this gods plan? If so, why so sudden? Why so soon? Why me?

"It seems you're awake now." A different doctor examined.

"Why? Why did my parent's… Die?" I asked the words barely escaping my mouth.

"Why? I don't know kiddo. They were killed in a shootout between the police and another criminal. They were hit in the crossfire. The previous doctor was issued to inform you but did not have the heart to break the news to you Master Brown. You have my condolences." The Doctor replied lamenting.

Gnashing my teeth my eyes formed streams of tears as they dripped onto my pillow drenching it as my heart trembled. Bitting my lower lip, I felt it pierce it the taste of blood now flowing into my mouth. Clenching my hands my body tensed as I fell into back into the void of dreams.

Its hands taking me into its embrace, the feeling warm and welcoming. Here I could see my parent's even if for moment. Even if I knew it was fake maybe I could believe it. Maybe I could believe they weren't truly gone.

"How's the kid?" A nurse asked worried.

"He's doing better his pulse has lowered to an average beat and his stress levels have lowered as well. Although his mental health has yet to be confirmed he doesn't seem to be as depressed as he used to be but he's a strong kid I believe in him," The doctor replied.

"What happened to the other doctor?" The nurse asked.

"He's on leave now. He's a good man a great surgeon, the best in our field I believe but failing the surgery and then having to explain his failure to their only child is worse. It doesn't help that the kid has no other family… He has got nowhere to turn to. Children who often go to orphanages aren't always the stable type." The doctor explained sighing.

"Hopefully, his therapy doesn't cost a fortune. How is he going to be compensated?" The Nurse asked.

"The kids got a lot of money in the bank but is only able to access it once he's eighteen the money will naturally come to him in small payments but I'd rather have parents then a huge sum of money. I hope the best for him.," The Doctor explained.

"I hope for the best for him too doc…" The Nurse muttered.

Looking at their empty bodies I stared on dead. My face expressionless. I was tired. My tears had already been shed, it's drops already bottled. It may have been sunny on that day but the rain that drenched my hearted continued to pour its hands drowning it. I stood their alone, not a single soul by my side.

"You may be gone mum and dad, but I'll never stop believing in you ," I muttered under my breath. Before looking up into the sky the clouds darkening as it blocked the sun. Darkness once entering my soul.

"The Doctor was on to something. If that doctor was right and my father entered the hospital unconscious yet healthy… but died almost seconds later when he got there, then something isn't right." I thought before I paused, the feeling of someone watching me piercing me.

Looking around, I spotted a strange figure afar. His noticeable features being he had one eye. Having a bulk figure, I stared at him confused. Seeing me spot him he glared at me his expression almost stoic in nature before walking away.

He screamed danger and death but Who the hell was he? Was he some random person who came to see his loved one or was he related to my parents? Or was he related to my parents' death? Whatever happened I'll find out one way or another but for now this strange gamer system came first.

*You've gained 1 point of wisdom*

"Looking at it, it seems making good choices or thoughts and decisions would increase my wisdom." I concluded scratching my chin.

"Officer Smith. Now Stay safe and well Tavita. Make sure not to get trouble alright don't want you to be at the back of my car for a bad reason, Alright?" Officer Smith warned smiling before entering his car.

"Okay. Thank you. Tavita thanked before walking towards the orphanage anxiety now picking back with him. Knocking on the door he was greeted by a nun of some sort.

"Hi…" Tavita greeted nervously.

"Welcome you must be Tavita Naea Brown Yes?" The Nun questioned.

"Yes." Tavita answered awkwardly.

"Well I'm sister Terica welcome to our orphanage I'll show you around." The nun stated holding my hand. Walking me around I was met with a lot of stares by the others.

"This here is the headmasters' room and office of a sort where we do our paperwork and see how your grades are going," She explained before moving onto the next rooms. Feelings eyes all around him he continued to walk unbothered, but the stares sent chills down his spine.

"This is my room and next to it is the girls' room. Remember to always knock if or when going into the girls' room. The room over from this one is the boys' room this is where you will be staying for the rest of your stay here. The lockers there is where you will put your clothes and belongings. See this key? Keep it safe. Just put your stuff inside your locker and get comfy." The nun explained handing him a key. Taking it he put it in his pocket.

"Thank you," Tavita accepted before putting his clothes into the locker.

Tavita walking to his bed laid down. Scanning the area everyone seemed silent distant huddled in their own groups.

'Whatever if they don't bother me then I'll do the same,' Tavita thought as he slept.

Getting up every day at 6am I started to train. Every second counted and with my training I could finally avenge my parents. Strength is what I need right now I muttered.

Doing push ups, I felt my arms exhaust the stabbing pain growing throughout my body, but I persisted. No pain, no gain. If I was going to find the truth, then I would have to gain the strength to do so. Seeing that man with one eye being strong caused me to realize thing weren't just as simple as they were. Things were happening behind the scenes and I was going to tear there show down.

*Push ups complete*

Feeling my body, I dropped and laid there tired. It seems I had a long road ahead of me and each step would count. Each push up would count, each squat, and each squat would too. If one is too build a house he must lay a foundation. Although I knew it was going to take a long time until I got stronger, I'll do it. With this gamer system my life was going to be a game and I was going to win it. The grind is on.

"Just one more time!" I exclaimed pushing myself. Still jogging I continued my jog around the orphanage before laying down exhausted once more. Being the only one awake beside Sister Terica no one bothered to check on me which was fine. I like my own privacy as well. Doing the exercises, I continued pushing past my limits before finishing a quarter of the quests my body feeling already burnt out. That was when I knew I was unfit.

*Due to you pushing your limit's you have gained 2 strength*

*Due to you pushing your limit's you have gained 2 constitution*

*Due to you pushing your limits you have gained 1 agility*

The system favoured hard work and with my conviction I was going to use this thing to the fullest. I may have not known who gifted this system to me, but I thank who ever did.

Looking at my stats I understood the fundamental gimmick's behind it but not what it did to my body. Just how was strength measured? Whatever it maybe I'm going to focus on that although Intelligence is important I find my body calling for me. Nearly going for another jog, I was stopped by another prompt.

*You have been de-buffed with <Extreme Fatigue> All physical attributes will be lowered by 50% Time Duration: 24 hours*

Seeing the prompt my body just mopped to the ground. It seems I overstepped my boundaries and went a little to far. It seems I'm going to have to fail the quest until I could do it without a whim although I would miss out on the rewards now it would later serve to better me.

'What's got you up so early? I heard someone puffing up and down the orphanage and came to see it was you." Sister Terica stated seeing me on the ground.

"I'm just exercising is all," I explained buffing it seems it took a lot more than my stats it too my breath away as well. Maybe I was in love with it? Nah that was a lame joke.

"Exercising in the cold morning the suns not even out yet? Although strange I'll leave you to it. Do you perhaps need a glass of water you sure look like you need one." Sister Terica offered.

"Yes please," I agreed laying there. Sister Terica going inside then came back with a glass of water and gave it to me before sitting down beside me.

"So, what do you think of our orphanage?" She questioned.

"It's alright" I answered honestly. The orphanage wasn't what I expected but it was place I would call home… For now, at least. My heart just wasn't here. These new faces, new people weren't family. To me they were another stranger, a person I just live with.

"Well I hope alright turns to great overtime. I hope you will enjoy your stay here even if your heart may not," She replied leaving me to sit there by myself again.

Arriving to school the next day I arrived at the gates nervous. New face and a brand-new start. Hopefully, things don't get out of hand. Entering on I had a good feeling of what this brand-new journey was going to bring me. Hopefully, things only get better from here.
