And like that, my plan to infiltrate Maine's gang went smoothly, my overpreparation and ability to predict the human psyche( paranoia) made me able to prevent any accidents while also securing a way to help David and his mother, while I wasn't there, with the Sandevistan he won't be as helpless as before and maybe I can also train him a bit on fighting, no guns though if I do his mother will most likely hunt me down till I am dead.

But let's get back to the present, after giving back Jackie's bike, stopping to leave the Sandevistan to Gloria, sure that she would make the best decision for the both of them, I was inside Maine's truck, the atmosphere heavier than what I usually like it to be.

"Soooooo, anyone has any cool stories to tell? Cause I got several ones."

" Only because we are bringing you around doesn't mean you are part of us remember, you have to deserve your spot, and I messaged Gloria about our bet, so don't think I won't get that Sandevistan back."

" Please, I want you to win, that would mean you aren't going psycho and I don't have to worry about you."

" Why are you even doing this? I can understand helping Gloria, but why push yourself to this point to help Maine?" Dorio asked the 1 million Eddies question everyone had in their mind.

Because I have seen all of your deaths I would become a hollow shell if I had to see it once again knowing I had the power to help you in any way, I would be disgusted whenever I look at myself knowing I could have done something but instead did nothing, but I can't say that.

" Because I can." I didn't elaborate further than that, not answering anyone's question with such a meagre answer, but calming some people's spirits.

" Well, since you are here, what chromes do you have? A Sandevistan? Self-Ice? Synthetic Muscles?" Pillar asked while moving his fingers closer and closer, if this were an anime I am sure he'd have a purple aura around him right now.

A quick hack later, I made him blind and I answered his question while he panicked and laughed. Yep, a crazy son of a bitch.

" Nothing special, the craziest things are the cyberdeck, the subdermal armour, and a pair of Kiroshi I modified."

" You modified? You a doc?" Maine asked while driving, so he was curious.

" Hope to become one, can't trust what everyone says, for now, I can modify most basic chromes, but nothing serious, also I can't exactly operate a human, I know how to close wounds and stuff like that, but that's the end of it, I have training for only a week."

" That's still impressive, I know of people unable to even remember their left from their right," Pillar said after regaining his vision and twirling his arm around each other more times than any human should be able to.

Now that the mood had lightened we continued chatting while Maine drove to where the rest of the gang was.

During the drive, I also started thinking of my next steps.

' What to do with Kiwi? What if I get her under me before Faraday can, does she already work under him? Kiwi went rogue after the incident with that Arasaka dude so if I can prevent it I might prevent Kiwi from betraying them, but if she still tries to do something fishy, I will be the first to flatline her, and I won't go as easy as Faraday did in the anime.' I thought while laughing at a joke Pillar made, my acting skill letting me show a facade that fully contrasted my emotions.

Around 2 hours later we arrived at a place called Turbo Bar, in Japantown, the front of the bar was empty aside from two people leaning on a car, one very gloomy with blonde hair and a modified jaw, and the the complete opposite, with azure skin, azure hair, and as small as a gnome.

The moment the car stopped I felt Kiwi stare at me, but she didn't try to hack me, so at least she has some courtesy unlike Lucy, but aside from that, Maine and his group told me to wait near the car while he spoke to the other two.

During the chat though Rebecca decided to head towards me while the others continued speaking.

" Heya, heard you are quite the nutcase." She said with a big smile on her face.

" Yep, the biggest case of psychosis you will ever meet, do you see the unicorn on your side or is it just me?"

That threw off the railing, usually, she was the one spouting no sense and now someone kept up with her, now I know why all MCs in fanfiction involve themself with the main cast and troll, it's hilarious.

" Just kidding, the name Akira, and yes, you can say my mind doesn't have all its screws in the right place, but who knows, maybe I am the only sane one here."

Rebecca continued staring at me for a good minute, spinning around me while rubbing her chin, after that she spun towards Maine and shouted.

"CAN WE KEEP HIM? HE IS FUNNY." 

Once again, if this was an anime, I am sure everyone would be on the ground in strange positions while defying the laws of physics.

Several cigarettes and minutes later, I was finally accepted to work with them.

" Perfect, now, do I have to bring the job since I am newly arrived or do you have something ready for me."

" Actually? I do, it's the perfect job for someone like you."

" Which is?"

" Scav Hunting."
