The pirate camp was abuzz with activity. News of Marcus's successful scouting mission had spread quickly, and the pirates were gearing up for a confrontation with the bandits.
Marcus observed the preparations, noting the camaraderie and efficiency with which the pirates worked. Despite their rough exteriors, they were a well-coordinated group.

Captain Grayson approached Marcus, his expression serious but approving. "You did well, Marcus. Your information gives us a good advantage. We're going to hit the bandits hard and fast before they can raid us again."
Marcus nodded, feeling a sense of purpose. "I'm ready to help however I can. What's the plan?"
Grayson spread out the map Marcus had seen the day before. "We'll split into two groups. One will create a diversion at the cave entrance, drawing out the bandits. The other will enter from the rear and take them by surprise. We hit them from both sides and end this quickly."
*New Objective: Infiltrate the bandit hideout through the rear entrance.*
Marcus studied the map, noting the routes and positions. "I'll take the rear entrance. My skills in stealth should help us get the drop on them."
Grayson clapped him on the shoulder. "Good. You'll be with Finn and a few others. Stay sharp and watch each other's backs."
*Party Formed:*
*- Finn*
*- Pirate A*
*- Pirate B*
Marcus gathered his gear and joined Finn, and the small team designated for the rear assault.
Finn gave him a nod, a mix of excitement and determination in his eyes. "Ready for some action, Marcus?"
"Always," Marcus replied with a small smile. "Let's do this."
The group moved out, navigating through the dense forest with practised ease. As they approached the cave, Marcus led the way, using his [Stealth] skill to guide them silently through the underbrush.
The sound of the diversionary team's approach grew louder in the distance, and they could hear the shouts of bandits as they scrambled to defend their hideout.
"Here we go," Finn whispered, drawing his sword. The others followed suit, readying their weapons.
Marcus motioned for silence and led the team to the rear entrance, a narrow passage partially concealed by foliage. He slipped inside first, his dagger at the ready.
The tunnel was dark and damp, but Marcus moved with confidence, his eyes adjusting quickly to the dim light.

As they neared the central chamber, the sounds of battle echoed through the cave. The bandits, distracted by the attack at the front, had left the rear entrance lightly guarded.
Marcus and his team quickly dispatched the few guards they encountered, moving deeper into the hideout.
In the central chamber, chaos reigned. The diversionary team had breached the front, clashing with the bandits in a fierce melee. Marcus signalled his team to flank the bandits, taking advantage of the confusion.
With swift precision, Marcus struck down a bandit who had his back turned, then moved to engage another.
Finn and the others followed his lead, their coordinated attack catching the bandits off guard. The element of surprise worked in their favour, and the bandits, now surrounded, began to falter.

Amidst the fray, Marcus spotted the bandit leader, a burly man with a wicked-looking axe, barking orders, and trying to rally his men. Marcus knew taking him down would be key to ending the fight quickly.
"Finn, cover me!" Marcus shouted, breaking through the melee towards the bandit leader.
Finn nodded and provided support, fending off bandits that tried to intercept Marcus.
With determined focus, Marcus closed the distance, his dagger gleaming in the dim light. The bandit leader turned just in time to parry Marcus's initial strike with his axe.
*Boss Encounter: Bandit Leader*
"You've got guts, boy," the bandit leader growled, swinging his axe with brutal force.
Marcus dodged, using his agility to stay one step ahead. "And you've got a lousy choice of career," he retorted, striking back with calculated precision.
The two clashed fiercely. The bandit leader's strength and brutality were overwhelming, each blow from his axe nearly knocking Marcus off his feet.
Sweat dripped down Marcus's face as he desperately parried and dodged, his own strikes barely grazing the man's tough hide.
He ducked under a wild swing, rolled to the side, and managed to slash the bandit leader's leg. The man roared in pain but didn't slow down, coming at Marcus with renewed fury.

Finn clapped Marcus on the back, grinning. "You were amazing out there! Welcome to the crew, officially."
Marcus stood over the bandit leader's body, his dagger dripping with blood. A wave of nausea hit him as the reality of what he had done sank in.
He had just killed a man.
His hands trembled, and he dropped his weapon, stumbling back. The thrill of battle faded, replaced by a cold, hollow feeling in his chest.
Images of the bandit leader's lifeless eyes haunted him, and he felt a rush of conflicting emotions: relief at surviving, horror at having taken a life, and a deep, unsettling sense of guilt.
He sank to his knees, the weight of his actions crashing down on him.
As the evening wore on, the pirates celebrated their victory with a feast.
Marcus stared into the flickering flames, his mind replaying the battle and the life he had taken. The initial shock and horror began to settle into a cold, hard resolve. He clenched his fists, feeling the weight of his actions and the gravity of his new reality.
This world was harsh and unforgiving, and he would need to be just as resilient to survive. He took a deep breath, steadying himself. "I can't afford to hesitate," he muttered under his breath. "If I want to protect my new friends and uncover the secrets of this place, I need to be strong. No more second-guessing."
The firelight reflected in his determined green eyes, a spark of fierce resolve igniting within him.
Marcus stood up, feeling the weight lift slightly from his shoulders. He knew he had crossed a line, but he also knew it was necessary.
Seeing Finn glance at him worriedly through the corner of his eyes, he smiled back, unable to hide his emotions
After a while, he joined in the festivities around the fire, remembering the friends he had in his past life. He would never forget this day.
