3 Shareholding of the Colosseum

Victor not only provided many ideas about the army of the Roman Empire, but he also provided suggestions about a completely new business: Gladiators.

He suggested to his family to build what was later known as the first colosseum of the Di Natale family. Using a colosseum, you can not only provide a new form of entertainment for the city of Lys, but you can also provide a place for networking between nobles as well as the perfect place for sport betting. Betting on the most valuable treasure this world has to offer:

human life

Overall, the idea of Gladiators was truly cruel and by the standards of our society truly unbearable. But Victor didn't care at all. He was living in a feudal society and Lys was pretty much one of the strongholds of Slavery in all of Essos. If the rumor of Victor being against slavery would circulate within the noble families of Lys, everybody would unite with all the forces of Essos to kill the Di Natale family. Victor, reborn in this cruel world, was by no means willing to sacrifice his family for the benefit of slaves, who would never be grateful to a noble house that lived off training slave soldiers. For the sake of his family's happiness Victor embraced everything about the industrial chain of slavery and even tried to further improve it.

Releasing the chains of slavery can be left to Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains.

If she is able to bear the hatred of all slave traders of the world and control Westeros Victor will give up the business of slavery and focus on the pharmaceutical business and arms trading. If not even the fated Queen can bomb the chains Victor might as well keep the chains locked as tight as possible.

The Di Natale family alone would never be able to complete and manage something as large as the colosseum on a small island in the middle of the ocean without involving the other families of Lys.

While Victors father focused on improving the training of soldiers and mercenaries while starting the training of gladiators, Victor's grandfather started with negotiations. He first involved the house of Lohar because they had the closest relationship with each other already. They were very interested to say the least. It was simply a golden cave in their eyes and improved their industrial chain of slavery. Next, they involved the Rogare family together. As a famous banking family, the idea of many rich people across Westeros and Essos being attracted to bet a lot of money and maybe even taking loans while betting on a feast of life and death right in front of their doorsteps certainly lit the hearts of the Rogare family on fire.

Over the next year every family of Lys somehow got involved in the business of the colosseum as the new vocal point of Lys:

The house of Maar will use many of their artisans for the construction of the colosseum and gather the rest of the families in providing the best and most expensive wines of Lys for the most important customers of Lys.

House Ormollen will provide the world's best and most expensive pleasure slaves for the most expensive private suites of the colosseum. The merger of iron and blood with the pleasure of Lys most beautiful woman leaves place for endless imagination and carnal desire.

The house of Nahohr will provide artisans as well but will otherwise focus on providing luxury boats for major customers. The colosseum will provide gladiator fights for those boats if the VIP is willing to pay for it. The focus of the house Nahohr will be the building and management of transportships, which will be very much needed, because the passenger flow towards Lys is expected to grow even more, if the new attraction of the colosseum is completed.

Even though Sathmantes is currently no longer at his peak it is still the oldest family of Lys. They provided land and other resources for the construction of the colosseum. In hindsight this proved to be the most succesful investment in the last and next hundreds of years.

The Di Natale family was responsible for the training of Gladiators and for most part of the management of the colosseum. The management relied heavily on many stewards of the family.

As such the shares of the colosseum were divided like this:

30% to the Di Natale family

20% to the Rogare family

10% to the Ormollen family

10% to the Nahohr family

10% to the Maar family

10% to the Sathmantes family

10% to the Alchemy Guild

The cooperation not only included the major families of Lys, but also the most famous dark guild: The alchemists of Lys.

The Spire of the Alchemists - just east of the centre of the city, a monolith of white stone can be found, and serves as the home of the Alchemists of Lys, famed for their creation of agents such as the Strangler and the Tears of Lys. The tears of Lys are a rare and expensive poison, made by the alchemists of Lys. It is clear, tasteless, odorless, and leaves no trace. When dissolved in liquids and swallowed, the poison eats away at the stomach and bowels of the victim and appears to be a disease of those organs. Giving the victim a powerful purgative, if done early enough, may be the only thing that can save their life, but even that may not be enough. It is unknown if the poison has a connection with the Weeping Lady of Lys.
