chapter 17 : The True North

20 years and 10 months was how old Jon was now and now he had been on a solitary patrol beyond the wall for three and a half years. In fact, he was deeply investigating the White Walkers.

The lands on the northern side of the wall were large, very large, and Jon wanted to know them to better do his job by observing who the real enemy was on this side of the wall.

Now he sat in a cave to the north of the frostfangs, the mountains near the valley of the Thenn and he reported on what he had discovered about the movements of the clans and especially the white walkers.

Before embarking on this mission, Jon had made a lot of preparations. He had visited a few houses near Winterfell, the Glovers, the Foresters/Forresters (they are present in the Telltale GOT game) and the Glenmores. He had made them mutants and had left them instructions to prevent certain eventualities; if he could not act directly in the event of a problem then he could very well do so indirectly.

As for his own status, he had asked his sworn brothers to declare him missing after 6 months following his departure.

Jon hadn't received any news from the Night's Watch regarding events in the kingdom for years, that was his request before leaving.

For three and a half years, he had sent Night his raven to drop off the parchments of his reports at Castle Black or even to bring him some paper.

At first he wrote with ink but it froze too quickly so he started writing with blood, the blood of his prey or the blood of his enemies, it was much more practical.

Jon was completely alone and only had as companions Night his giant crow even bigger than before, Shadow his powerful horse and Ghost.

In three and a half years, the white wolf with red eyes had grown big, very big. He was much bigger than the black wolf Sam Uley in the Twilight saga, his skin was strong and his fur was even better than steel armor against swords or arrows and the worst part was that he didn't hadn't finished growing yet.

Many times, these three participated in battles and killed a lot of enemies, they even became a legend among free folk.

Jon wasn't there as an active enemy but more as an observer or explorer and he had begun to have a certain fascination with the world beyond the wall.

Finishing his report, gave the scrolls to Night who flew at a frightening speed towards the wall, these were the last scrolls he was sending as they were his last reports, he planned to return to the wall in a few days.

He had visited almost the entire territory but he had one last place to observe and it was one of the last two haunts of the giants, Jon observed them out of fascination but also to see if they too would join the free folk army , the number of giants was important to ensure their defenses were effective if they attacked.

At a location far enough away to not be noticed, Jon observed the giants' cave with a gentle smile as he saw two little giants eating.

He could see them from very far away without any difficulty because the nanites had given him bionic eyes capable of visual zooming.

He watched again when at a narrow passage leading to the cave, he saw 21 wildlings rushing there led by a beautiful blonde woman who was a dead ringer for the actress Ellen Hollman.

They had terrified expressions and seemed to be running away from something.

Intrigued, Jon looked a little further behind to see almost 50 undead soldiers chasing wildlings with zombie polar bears and their leader in the rear, a white walker on an undead horse. They brought with them a blizzard with strong winds.

The wights began to attack the giants as well as the wildlings led by the very beautiful blonde woman.

A fight began, it was not the first time that Jon had seen the specters and he had already faced them several times.

Now that these free folk were under attack, he had to intervene not because he was a hero but because these giants could be disturbing if they fell into the ranks of humanity's enemies.

He didn't need to say anything to his companions, the digital data of what he had seen had been transmitted to the nanites within them and they knew what they had to do, help the opponent to that he does not become the enemy.

On the back of Shadow his horse, Jon rushed towards the cave of the giants passing through the steep, frozen and steep slopes of the mountain yet totally impossible to access for horses or normal humans but neither Shadow nor Ghost were normal animals.

Shadow's agility, speed, power and above all intelligence were so high that this horse could adapt to any ground and its optical sensors offered him the best surfaces on which to place his hooves while galloping on slopes, it was an insult to physics.

Ghost could do all that but much faster, he had claws and loved to fight but Night the raven was above all that because he was in a completely different realm, the sky was his kingdom.

The blonde woman was fiercely fighting the dead with the others but they were in difficulty because they ran a lot and the dead were too numerous in addition to fighting with as much speed, strength and intelligence as the living but without limits of endurance.

The Wildlings began to fall to the dead who also attacked the giants along with the zombie bears.

Fortunately for the giants, they had thick skin and knew how to defend themselves.

The White Walker was annoyed at this resistance and the fallen wildlings began to rise up with blue eyes to begin attacking the former companions and the giants in a scene resembling a horror movie.

The blonde fought well, she even fought very well with a sword and a dagger but the others opposite were living dead completely invulnerable to normal weapons.

The White Walker used his ice weapon as a javelin to throw it at her and kill her but on impact.

 *CLANGKT*

Jon intervened from nowhere on Shadow to deflect the ice weapon with his Valyrian steel sword "Longclaw" in front of the woman, totally paralyzed by the action.

She looked up to see the man on the large black horse under a cloak dark as night but with blue eyes glowing in the shadows of the face.

 The Blonde: The Raven King.

"Use this, it's more effective against them..." Jon handed him a dragonglass dagger using the ancient language.

The blonde: Do you speak the ancient language?! Why are you helping us?!

"I don't think we have time to argue here..." Jon said coldly as the White Walker generated another weapon similar to the last one.

They resumed the fight and Jon's companions began a real massacre.

The two giant children were protecting themselves from two zombie bears when Ghost appeared and rushed at them to tear them apart with his fangs and claws without any difficulty.

Ghost even despite his imposing body displayed prowess greater than what a beast of his size could do.

Its jaws could easily crush stone if it wanted to with its long canines and its claws could cut very deeply.

He literally played with the zombie bears as Shadow sent the dead flying with powerful hoof kicks in his path.

Jon got off his horse and went to help the blonde and the others while he looked at the white walker smiling.

He calmly walked towards the White Walker who charged at him with his Zombie horse to hit him but Jon dodged it and grabbed one of the galloping zombie horse's ribs to acrobatically mount the back of the horse where he stood behind the White Walker who he immediately decapitated, turning him into ice dust.

"the raven king..." The blonde whispered in shock after seeing how Jon killed the white walker, the other wildlings too were speechless for a moment but they had to return to the fight.

The magic that animated the dead did not come from this white walker but from the Night king so they continued to fight.

Jon started killing the undead without difficulty especially thanks to his Valyrian steel sword, it had nothing to do with This fraud shown in the series, this sword could really cut armor like paper and the dragon steel created by Jon could do the same.

When the fight was over, of the 21 wildlings, only 7 remained including the blonde. Jon looked at the giants and luckily they had no casualties, they were the ones the walker should have aimed with his javelin because the dead couldn't kill them easily.

Ghost returned to his side baring his fangs in growls terrifying to the wildlings and he climbed back onto Shadow while Night landed on him with each of his claws on both of his shoulders and spread his wings while under his shadow Jon's eyes shone even brighter.

The blonde: The legendary Raven King...if you're here to kill us then we won't die without fighting .

Jon: If I wanted to see you dead then I wouldn't have intervened. We're only enemies if you attack our patrols or the wall, I'm the one on your land.

The blonde: It's fair, you're on our land. My name is Val.

"My name is Jon Stark..." Jon said as he took off the hood of his cloak and she saw his face, the woman didn't say anything for a while because she found him very handsome.

"A Stark ?! (spits) Your family has been killing our leaders for millennia. Why did you help us ? I would still rather die than be helped by a Stark." A man said angrily watching their interaction, he looked to be a bit older than Jon.

 Val: Jarl, that's enough.

Jarl: He's the enemy with the other crows Val, don't tell me he's already charmed you with his pretty blue eyes.

Val: We're here on a mission, if you bother me again with your jealousy problems I'll rip your balls off and feed them to his wolf.

Jon: Your husband doesn't seem to like me very much.

 Val: He's not my...husband...

Jon: Mance Rayder sends you to recruit these giants ?

 Val:…

Jon: If I wish you harm, it would have already been done and only one of you is enough for interrogation.

Val: That's right, we're here to take them with us. They have already joined the cause.

Jon: So I'm going to accompany you, I want to speak with your boss and I'm sure that Mance would also like to see me.

Jarl: So you can assassinate him?

Jon: It's also a possibility that it was him who wanted to kill me there. But I hate lying and I'm not the type to kill someone who tens of thousands of people believe in without arguing with him. I know why you want to leave and it's our common enemy.

 Val:…

 Jarl:…

"Thank you for helping our clan and our children " A giantess said slowly in the ancient language while walking towards Jon.

Jon: For a long time, my people believed that your people were extinct. You and the children of the forest are races older than mine and we pray to the same gods. They will punish me if I let those who venerated them long before mine perish.

Val: You speak the ancient language and are subject to the ancient gods. What kind of crow are you?

Jon: Just a northern man and I'm in the true north right now.

Val: (smiles) I'm Mance's sister-in-law and I'm sure he would like to meet you.

 Jarl: Val !!!

 Val: I vouch for him.

 Jon: Thank you my lady.

Val: I'm not your lady and the slightest problem you cause I'll gut you myself.

Jon: You won't be strong enough for that and my wolf would have already digested you but I understand what you mean. Thanks anyway.
