4 Gacha System

[Initiating Good Luck Gacha System.]

[1%… 20%… 70%… 100%]

[Initiating is completed.]

[Greetings, Host.]

"Who is it?" Alex was startled and abruptly rose from his bed because the notification wasn't the only thing that surprised him. There was still another voice inside his head following the notification.

[I'm Good Luck Gacha System, Host. You now can communicate with your mind.]

Alex fell into silence before trying to check if it was true or not. He then closed his eyes and asked in his mind. 'Who are you?'

[I'm your Good Luck Gacha System, Host.]

"I've heard it earlier…I'm asking your name… Are you insulting me?"

[No, I'm not. My name was born from your experiences and new determination. Trust me; you need it.]

"I want to say so many things about your name, but maybe I should just accept you for now." Alex sighed. He had no knowledge about systems other than those he read from books. On Earth, he read everything other than academic books to help his sister, who was a genius in academics. In this case, he decided to bear with whatever system that was invading his mind before complaining later. "Still, the way you talk doesn't look like Artificial Intelligence or something. Instead, I feel like I'm talking to someone…"

[…]

"Judging from your reactions, are you trying to tell me that I'm not qualified for such information?" Alex sighed. "Never mind then. I just want to ask what you can do."

[Thank you for your consideration. I am a Gacha System, so I only have Gacha with me.]

"I read many books about systems and all I know it should be an OP, you are like them, right?"

[Don't compare me to your delusion. They are only fictive.]

"But I was literally transported to another world… Wasn't it already fictive?"

[No. You are living in the real world, right? Can't you notice that already or are you still thinking you are dreaming right now?]

"No… I mean- Haiz, I shouldn't get fixated over this puny matter… So, you only have Gacha inside of you, right? Doesn't it mean you are pretty useless?" Alex unconsciously compared the system with those OP systems in fictional books.

[There is no useless system, only useless Host. And you are one of them.]

"Look… You are now insulting me." Alex sighed, he already felt nothing about the insult as if he had gotten used to it.

[It's only my Auto Defense, Host. It's to protect me from your insult. Besides, you should be able to utilize me better… if you are not useless, that's it.]

"Whatever." Alex shrugged. "So, what can I get from Gacha?"

[I have three types of Gacha: Techniques Gacha, Tools Gacha, and Materials Gacha. There are many types of manuals inside the first one, starting from combat techniques to auxiliary methods. The same applies to the second one, starting from combat weapons to auxiliary tools. Last but not least, you can get any materials like ores, herbs, or even food and water.]

"How can I use the Gacha then?"

[Host needs a Gacha Ticket. You can get them by killing living beings.]

Alex suddenly furrowed his eyebrows, he realized that something was not right. "If I kill humans… I can also get Gacha Tickets?"

[Yes, but System won't recommend it.]

"Why?" The first confirmation sent chills down to his spine, but he got confused about the latter part. It was an easy way to get Gacha Tickets if he could kill humans… or at least demons. After all, he simply needed to join the war somewhere.

[Host needs to have good karma, or else my name will be changed into 'Bad Luck Gacha System.' I'm sure you can imagine what will happen next. So I suggest you kill only your enemies, not innocent people.]

"… Killing itself is already bad. But, are you saying that I shouldn't mindlessly kill people?"

[Something like that.]

"Fine. I will do what I can. Besides, I never kill someone in my entire life, let alone killing thousands of people." Alex sighed. He knew that he was depressed this whole time but he was never a psychopath.

[Thank you, Host.]

"I'm not trying to compare you with other systems, but I have the urge to ask one question… System, do I have a beginner package?"

[I want to say no, but unfortunately, I'm equipped with it.]

"Please don't joke around about something like this…" Alex sighed.

[Anyway, do you wish to open it?]

"Fine. Open it."

[10x Gacha Tickets Acquired.]

"I got ten Gacha Tickets, huh… Let's see… Use four on tools, another four on techniques, and the rest on materials." Alex tried his best to think about how to utilize his first 10 Gacha Tickets wisely by dividing it into this proportion. Whether it was the best choice or not, he would soon figure it out.

[Processing.]

[Spear x1]

[Iron Sword x2]

[Shovel x1]

[Basic Body Tempering Manual x1]

[Basic Cultivation Manual x1]

[Fencing Manual x1]

[Basic Trap Manual x1]

[Water Bottle x2]

"Two water bottles? What the…" Alex took a deep breath, calming his heart down. "Never mind, let's check other items first."

After looking at the item list, Alex murmured. "I can use the swords later and combine it with fencing. As for the spear… It has a longer reach, so I might have the opportunity to use it another time. As for the shovel, I can make a trap with it, like digging a hole or something? I don't know.

"I don't understand these two books: Basic Body Tempering Manual and Basic Cultivation Manual. This is already a different genre, isn't it? Anyway, I can get stronger by killing monsters, so why do I need these two, System?"

[Analyzing.]

[If we take the Host's memories about 'Fantasy World Games and Stories' and the king's explanation about the legend into account, System can speculate that when a monster is killed, they release some kind of energy, which the killer will absorb to strengthen his body. We classify this as EXPs or Experience Points. You can level up after accumulating enough points.

[However, System also speculates that the person in the legend had a hard time leveling up because the energy released from the monsters wasn't pure enough. I can't speculate more than this without enough data.]

"So, this body tempering and cultivation are the solutions?"

[The energy you absorb according to the manuals is Heaven and Earth Energy. It is the purest form of energy. Whether it's the solution or not, you need to decide it yourself, Host.]

"I see. That means I'm lucky to have them in my first Gacha hen. If what you are saying is true, I can reach level one thousand and may potentially achieve my goal to pay those two back." Alex said with a little determination. His eyes didn't actually have any hope because he felt it might once again disappoint him like he suddenly realized he didn't have an aptitude for it.

[Talent and Strength are important but they are not the determining factors. The reason why humans can stand strong is that they have wisdom. You should polish and use your wisdom to conquer everything and work as hard as you did on Earth. I will be supporting you and watching your progress.]

Alex closed his eyes and agreed with his system, but he still didn't know whether he could do it or not. He stretched his hand to the ceiling and sighed. The last time he had determination was a long time ago and it was crushed by his sister and parents, so he got used to putting no expectation for himself. He shook his head and said, "How can I learn the manual then?"

[You just need to think about what you want to take out and say 'Extract'.]

"Extract," said Alex while thinking of the name of those two books as well as their appearances. Suddenly, the two books popped out of nowhere and fell on his lap.

"System, do you have any instant or automatic learning function?"

[No. You need to learn it manually.]

"As expected, you are a useless System."

[Host. Cultivation is an arduous process, not a shortcut, like what you want. Since you compare me with those fictional things, how about comparing yourself with those MCs? They keep learning manually and trying hard.]

"Okay, fine. I just need to read it, right?" Alex lost against the system in the silly argument.

He picked up the two manuals and started reading them. Each book wasn't that thick, so he should be able to finish it pretty soon. He had nothing to do at the moment while having enough money to sustain himself for a while. He decided to read it slowly and understand the concepts.

"System, do you have storage or Inventory?" asked Alex while reading the book. He forgot to ask about it earlier.

[As long as the items came from the system, you can store them in the Inventory. If not, you need to find a way to keep them yourself.]

"… Useless System."

[…]

Meanwhile,

Somewhere far away, a woman was playing with her computer.

She stretched her hands and chuckled. "It's amusing to tease you."

Even though she was laughing the whole time, there wasn't a shred of happiness in her eyes, only sadness. She closed her eyes right after, recalling the past memories before tears suddenly flowed out of her eyes and fell to the floor.

"Finally… Just a bit longer."
