Chapter 23: Project

"Time to go back to where it all began." - (Gaara) said with a smile on his face.

Although he is allowed to go back to Suna from time to time throughout his stay here, Gaara chose not to.

One time, when he sent a <<sand clone>> to monitor what's happening in his village, he noticed a change in the atmosphere, especially from his friends and siblings. They seemed to be very motivated to train, not just because of the fact that Gaara is not around to protect their home but also to show to him their growth and hard work once they reunite in the future.

Not only them, the whole village was very bussy. With the support coming from the daimyo, the people were very eager to work harder in order to not waste the opportunity given to them.

This pleases Gaara so he decided to not interfere in their progress.

After a few hours of journey from the royal palace, the caravan carrying the daimyo and Gaara finally arrived at Suna.

Around the building made of sand, all the people in the village are gathered. From normal civilians to shinobis, they're all anticipating one of the most exciting events in their life.

The Honored Siblings gave a long speech about the problems, issues and walls they had faced in the past years, touching the hearts of many.

"... But those things are from the past. All we can do now is learn from our mistakes and use that to avoid history from repeating itself.

To realize that goal, we need a figure capable of leading the masses, and with our support, turning the collective power of the people into something that will ensure everyone's well being and progressive development…

With the absence of such a figure for a year, I know how everyone became restless. But fret not. Today, a new figure will be appointed as our new Kazekage.

As if her voice echoed, sounds and cheers coming from the people were heard.

Gaara walked forward to see the people. His sharp eyes gaze down upon the people, evident with resolute and power. These are no eyes of a mere child but of a man who has experienced life and death, ready to embark the path of a kage.

It's only been a year since he was gone but he has shown great improvement during that time. Before, he already had the power to turn the world upside down, but now he also has the wisdom to back it up.

But still, in people's hearts, it's difficult to forgive this man completely. He has done something that can never be undone and that will remain in the people's hearts forever. But as a changed man who had proven himself again and again, they have decided to give him a second chance and see what he can do to atone for his mistakes.

//2 months later//

At the outskirts of the village, a wide clearing was made 2 months ago. This place is heavily protected by a large number of high level invisible barriers that blocks unauthorized individuals/objects from entering and induces an illusion of normal housing area to the outside viewer. It is also protected with Shukaku's curse mark with the mix of natural energy from Gaara.

Much like this place, the whole of Suna is protected with such, extending even underground.

This was the first thing Gaara did after being appointed as Kazekage. In either of his worlds, information is the greatest weapon one can wield.

Although not to the point of isolating his village to the outside world, he made sure to reduce leakage of information to its absolute minimum. After all, with all the trading going on and people going in and out of the village, it's almost impossible to stop rumors from propagating. The best thing he could do is tighten the security.

Gaara has been visiting this place to facilitate his first biggest project as the Kazekage.

At the center of the clearing, there is a huge facility made with sand created and reinforced by Gaara with hundreds of people present. Ranging from shinobis to normal civilians with different professions. They are all busy working with something.

The project Gaara had planned is the creation of a non-relying-chakra machinery that will enable them to harness and use the most efficient and versatile energy in his previous world, electricity. With this power in their hands, in no time, Suna will enter a new era.

An era where countless possibilities lie, increasing the efficiency and lessening the workload of the people by many folds without the use of chakra. Thus, improving the living conditions of the people and creating more opportunities for the civilians to make use of their skills and talent.

In this way, the village will no longer solely rely on missions that hardly come by to sustain itself but as well as the products they can produce with the usage of electricity.

Civilians will be able to find jobs that best suited them without exposing themselves in the deadly climate, earning for their family while maintaining their safety as well as helping in the village's economic growth.

One of the things Gaara learned while living in this world is the overreliance on chakra. Although it's undoubtedly the most useful form of energy as it can be transformed into a variety of forms and has almost infinite application, it proves to be the cause of stagnation.

It's been over a thousand years since Hagoromo spread his chakra to the world, yet people are still living in an underdeveloped civilization. The technology is lacking and so inconsistent because people are not willing to disclose or share any of their discoveries and inventions to the world.

It's only natural for those people to act this way, knowing that everything can be used and taken advantage of by others. Of all the things they could have done with chakra, all they managed to do is how to effectively kill each other.

So, Gaara decided to take advantage of the climate in Suna. The scorching sunlight and the powerful wind is the key to this project. If he manages to tame these two behemoths, Suna will become a natural sea of electricity that can supply the whole world. He believes that with the help of chakra and complex sealing techniques, it can bridge the gap from the lack of knowledge when it comes to technology.

But of course, Gaara is not completely ignorant on how to begin with this plan. As a modern man who came from the world where information knocks on people's doorsteps, he has a fair share of knowledge with him that can be used to speed up the process.
