165 Issue #8

Jack looked at Emma's face and sighed to himself before he started explaining what the title he gave her was and what she could do. He then told her why he gave it to her.

{I thought that in case you were pregnant, this would keep you safe. I've also been meaning to give you one of the titles I have anyway, but I just got suddenly inspired to give you that one.}

Emma looked at Jack as if she was looking at an idiot.

{I would have told you if I was pregnant, you fool. I had all day to pee on a stick.}

Emma rolled her eyes at having to explain to Jack what was going on. This was another situation where Jack's intelligence suddenly decreased to the same level as the Hulk and he acted without thinking.

Jack also knew that he had done something stupid and was about to apologize to Emma but she waved her hand. She knew that he didn't mean to do what he did as he did it so there was no need for him to apologize.

The rest of the ride to the mansion was quite peaceful. Now that Jack had explained himself and was there to pick her up when the charity dinner was over, Emma was in a great mood. And like Emma told Shaw, Jack was there to accompany her for the rest of the night.

The pair only stopped a little before 6 am because Jack had to meet up with the Inquisitors in the Danger Room. Jack once again took his ice cleansing before teleporting down to the Danger Room where all of the Inquisitors were present.

Jack looked at the problem trio and smirked.

'They must have realized that just because something is optional, it doesn't mean that they should just ignore it. Especially if they want me to unlock their secondary mutations.'

Jack nodded at everyone before calling out Martha first. The young woman stepped forward but she looked different than yesterday.

The day before, her head was covered in shoulder-length hair. Today, the hair had disappeared and the top of her head was covered in either black glass or dark glass and showed off her black brain.

'So this is how her power should have manifested originally.'

"I like the new look," Jack complimented. "Did you come up with a new code name?"

Martha nodded. She had thought about what her name would be most of the night and had decided on one. But when she woke up and noticed that her hair had fallen out, she felt that the name she chose did not suit her anymore. So she chose a new one.

"I wanna be called, Cylobel. I think it sounds really cool."

Jack smiled and nodded at the young lady. The name was very unique and it suited her perfectly.

"Good. Now that you have come up with your name, I'm going to send you three through a few rounds in the Danger Room so you can test your powers. Martha first. Everyone else, head up to the control room with me."

Martha stayed in the Danger Room while the rest left. When they got to the control room, Jack picked three scenarios to put Martha through. Two were to test her powers while the last was an obstacle course to help her get used to using her body at a higher level than just normal activity.

The results of the tests were as expected. Martha's powers had shown a noticeable increase in ability. She was able to resist psionic waves that were equal to a young Marvel Girl focusing her full attention on a single target. Martha was also skilled in possessing other bodies.

When it came to the obstacle course, she was at the level that Jack had expected. The young woman had only regained her physical body the day before.

"That's enough, Martha. Come back up. Laura, head down."

Laura nodded and traded places with Martha. Larua's tests were much more straightforward. She only had two rounds, the first was against Hand ninjas while the latter was against sentinels.

When the test concluded, Jack could confirm that Laura was the better Wolverine now. Her new mutation caused her bones to become just as strong as Wolverine's were but without the drawback of being as heavy or coming with the poisoning that the Adamantium caused.

Laura's bones were also not metal but true bones so they could not be manipulated by people like Magneto or other magnets.

With her new bones increasing her durability, Laura no longer had to fight as cautiously. Although her new fighting method would seem a little reckless to most people, Jack just knew that she was taking advantage of her powers to their fullest.

"Nice. Laura and Melody, switch out."

Of all the trio, Melody had experienced the largest change in her powers. So much so that Jack had her stay behind and miss her first period to understand the limits of Melody's new powers.

Melody had evolved from just creating an aura of light around herself to allow her to fly, to creating several auras/halos of lights around her body that had different effects. At the moment, she could only use a single aura at a time but Jack believed that in the future, the young woman had the potential to use multiple at once.

Red aura can produce destructive heat beams to melt or burn enemies.

Orange aura can produce powerful concussive force beams to knock back enemies.

Yellow aura can produce brilliant flashing lights to stun or blind enemies.

Green aura can produce halting stasis beams to stop and manipulate enemies.

Blue aura can produce distorting holographic effects to confuse or disturb enemies.

Indigo aura can produce physical tractor beams that can pull or push enemies.

All in all, the young woman's power had become very diverse. Once Jack was done writing down all the changes, he sent her to class so he could start preparing how he was going to teach her and the other students in ways that were best for them.
