51 Issue #2

(Early release because I stayed up until 5 am)

As soon as the meeting was over, Jack took his team to their Quinjet and they were off to do their first mission. Jack was the pilot while the rest of the members sat in the seats behind him.

"Soooooo," Johnny dragged out. "Where are we going?"

Jack didn't inform any of them of their current mission. He just asked them all to get in the jet and said they were going to handle some official Avengers' business. This made the 4 members of Squad 7 very curious.

"Trask Industries in unveiling a new model of sentinels today. Magneto is sure to show up."

Hearing this, Johnny and Simon (Wonder Man) both got up from their seats.

"What!?!" "Are you crazy!?" They each yelled at him at the same time.

Crystal had never heard of Magneto before so she did not understand the extreme reactions. But Elektra did. And in her mind, they made perfect sense.

If there was a ranking for the 10 strongest villains on the planet, Magneto would surely be placed on that list. His powers alone made him fearsome but his skill with using them made him even more dangerous. As the saying went, "fear not the man who has practiced 1,000 kicks once but the man who had practiced a single kick 1000 times." Magneto was known as the Master of Magnetism for a reason.

But besides Magneto, there was also the force behind. He was the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants which was composed of some of the deadliest mutants on the planet. If any one of them wanted to become a hero, they would easily qualify as Avengers. And Jack wanted to fight against them.

"We are not going to fight. The plan is to intercept them before they arrive and try to talk them down," Jack explained to the other. "And then we fight them if that doesn't work."

This did not add confidence to any of the three that knew of Magneto. They actually found the situation even more dangerous. The only person that had ever been able to talk Magneto down before was Charles Xavier. And even then, the man was only able to do it once after failing another dozen or so times.

'It's ok, Johnny. We are in the air. This is your element. And Jack wouldn't send us on a suicide mission. He is not that bored,' Johnny silently convinced himself that everything was going to be alright

Jack ignored their worried faces and continued toward his destination. When they were 50 miles away from Task industries, Jack parked their jet within a cloud. He then used his telepathy to create a small radar to sense any minds that approached them.

'Although Magneto protects his mind, the other members of the Brotherhood don't!'

When it was 5 minutes before the start of the conference, Jack could sense several individuals rapidly approaching. He turned on the Quinjet's scopes and saw a jet he recognized as the personal transport vehicle of the Brotherhood of Evil.

He drove the Quinjet out of the cloud where the Brotherhood could see and flashed his lights in order to signal them to stop. The Brotherhood's jet stopped in front of theirs but did not make any other moves.

Neither side made a move for a few minutes before Jack gave up first. Jack stood up from the pilot's seat and began giving out orders.

"Elektra. Take the captain's/pilot's seat. Since you are the only one that can't fly, you will wait in here. Be ready to call backup in case things start to go south. The rest of you, with me."

Jack and the others went out the bay doors of the Quinjet. They proceeded to fly in front of the Brotherhood's jet but no one on board made any movements.

This put Wonder Man on edge.

"What are you trying to do? Let's call in reinforcements so we can take these guys out!"

"Our job is to protect the peace, not start fights. If we can end this peacefully, we should do exactly that," Jack immediately denied his idea. He had his own plans.

'If we called for reinforcements, I wouldn't get a chance to talk with him like Emma has been trying to do. We need to make sure that he knows that the Hellfire Club is a lost cause now and have him secure the backup plan.'

Not knowing what Jack truly had planned, Wonder Man looked at Jack as if he was looking at an enemy. He was about to say something else when the bay doors to the Brotherhood's jet opened up.

"Your leader may enter. The rest of you are to wait outside," said an imposing voice from the inside of the craft

Jack nodded. He pulled out his phone and pressed a few buttons on it before turning to Johnny.

"I just shut off everyone's comms to the tower except yours. You are the only one that can communicate with them. If I am not out in 10 minutes or they take me hostage, I want you to light the jet up and tell Thor we need thunder here."

Johnny saw the unusual level of seriousness in Jack's eyes and nodded. When he was sure Johnny would do as he asked, Jack flew toward the Brotherhood's jet. Once he was inside, the doors closed behind him.

Jack stood at the back of the jet while over a dozen pairs of eyes gazed at him. These were some of the most dangerous mutants on the planet and they were all looking at him as if he was prey. But he paid no attention to most of them.

The only person he cared about was the one sitting in the middle of all the other individuals on a throne. One of the few people in the world that Emma Frost truly respected and saw as her equal. Because he knew how hard it was to earn that from the woman, the man automatically had Jack's respect.

"Hello, Magneto. Or do you prefer Max?" Jack asked with a small smile on his face
