16 Tenshi’s Identity

Chapter 16: Tenshi's Identity RW

"What?" Tenshi probed Lucifer for further details about his comment.

"Did you not figure it out already? I am not a sacred gear, I am just a consciousness of old Lucifer" Lucifer said.

Tenshi was taken off surprise once again since he thought Lucifer was a sacred gear.

'No… It's not possible-' Tenhsi had only now comprehended what Lucifer was implying.

"Is it a coincidence that your names, Tenshi (angel) and Hoshiko (star), sound so similar to each other?" Lucifer raised doubts.

After seeing that Tenshi was still silent, Lucifer added, "You believe that simply by randomly waking you were able to produce enough power to really establish a gateway, and that too coincidentally to Hell? You are an integral part of my being... You are Lucifer Morningstar, the oldest living son of the One Who Is Above All!"

Tenshi's legs trembled as he listened to Lucifer's revelation and he collapsed to the ground.

"So what of the other part?" Tenshi questioned the possibility that there is another being like him somewhere else in the cosmos.

"Before he passed away, my father created two omni-verses... two identical duplicates, and he put a piece of my soul in each one of them... Don't fret about your solitary existence; you're unique even among the stars. Even I, at the peak of my powers, am unable to travel across the omniverse, thus it's impossible for the two of you to me." Tenshi's question was answered by Lucifer, which brought her some measure of comfort.

'So who am i? Am I Lucifer or am I Tenshi?' Tenshi began having an identity crisis.

"YOU ARE LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR. Tenshi is only a name or an alias that has been assigned to you... Take pride in our name." Lucifer spoke loudly.

"And if I am as powerful... as you, then surely I can save Liya. Can you lend a helping hand?" Tenshi inquired with the expectation that Lucifer, being as they are the same, would assist him.

"And for what reason should I? Should you pass away, I shall be reincarnated in your soul and live another life. So it doesn't matter to me whether you pass away or not... The name 'Lucifer' should not have been bestowed upon you; you did not even come close to living up to its expectations," Lucifer said.

Tenshi's shoulders sagged as he realized that he had nothing to give Lucifer that would convince him to comply.

With anger and desperation in his voice, he exclaimed, "THEN WHAT DO YOU WANT?"

When Lucifer was yelled at, he was not amused, so he said, "You want power?... Then make a pledge to me, a pledge that you would never bring dishonor to the name of Lucifer, and I will grant you strength."

Tenshi lowered his head and inhaled deeply before closing his eyes.

"I promise… I solemnly swear that I will never bring shame to the name of Lucifer. I will never put up with anybody treating me with contempt... I shall put an end to the lives of anybody who gets in my path... NEVER IN MY LIFE WILL I EVER ALLOW ANOTHER PERSON TO STEP ON ME."

Tenshi's words were flowing from his mouth as an unknown mixture of pride and wrath took over his body.

Lucifer gave a grin and then remarked, "Very good... I am only able to release a portion of your power... ...and make sure you never forget that you are Lucifer, the first born. You were the one who brought about the beginning of life, thus it is only right that we take what is rightfully yours."

Tenshi, now Lucifer, nodded, fury and pride coursing through his veins at the same moment.

Tenshi then gradually crumbled into little fragments.

Upon opening her eyes, Rias saw that she was once again in her bedroom. Then she went to the mirror and undid her nightgown.

On her chest, in the area just over her heart, was the mark of a sword that was tethered to chains that were formed by two distinct wings, one black and the other white.

When Rias spoke his name, "Tenshi," she immediately felt a warm glow of happiness at the memory of him.

When she touched the spot, it was as if she were re-embracing Tenshi.

Suddenly, her face started to warm up, and her beautiful cheeks took on a rosy hue as she recalled the way she had held him and refused to let go.

Rias was not embarrassed by the fact that she sobbed like a baby when she was in his hug. She was aware of the fact that it was more comfy than her own mother.

She vividly remembers inhaling his wonderful aroma, which immediately put her at rest and calmed her pounding heart. When she inhaled his aroma, she thought of Giardina, a flower that bloomed in her mother's yard.

Rias's eyes gleamed with anticipation at the thought of reuniting with Tenshi.

Rias may state unequivocally that her emotions for Tenshi are evident. Despite the fact that it may seem unbelievable and shocking, it is true.

She knew that if anybody overheard her, they would dismiss her feelings as an infatuation, but she would fight tooth and nail to prove that she was really in love.

It is true that Rias knows Tenshi better than anybody else does; not even the 'thot' (Virginia) is as familiar with Tenshi as she is.

Rias had seen Tenshi's joys, his difficulties, his breakdowns, and even his triumph against the thing that took his arm. And, as scary as it may seem, she adores it.

Tenshi's joy over something as basic as eating a 'chicken wing' for the first time in Hell changed her perspective on the world, making her more kind and appreciative of what she takes for granted.

Tenshi's fight for his own life motivated her to put all her effort into her training.

Tenshi's meltdown not only opened her eyes to how pampered she had been acting, but it also brought back memories of mistakes she had made in the past.

Simply by seeing how Tenshi went about his daily existence, Rias became much more mature.

*knock* *knock*

Unexpectedly, there was a knock at Rais's bedroom door. When Rias checked the time, she realized it was just a few minutes after midnight and that she should not host any visitors.

As a consequence of seeing Tenshi's constant alertness, she revised her outlook on many aspects of her life.

"Yes?" A mumble escaped Rias' lips as he kept staring towards the door.

Without any response, Rias started setting up her POD to fire at the door.

"It's me, Rias." Her fears were alleviated by the sound of her mother's voice.

When the door was opened, she saw that her mother Venelana was standing there dressed in a night dress.

When Rias didn't see her mother's usual bright look, she had the unsettling impression that something was wrong. For some reason, Rias was overcome with the foreboding sense that something horrible was going to happen.

"Rias… you engagement is pushed forward"

⪼ After Tenshi/Lucifer fell unconscious ⪻

As the poison continued to spread through Tenshi's body, he eventually lost consciousness.

Before Turoth could confront Ward about what had occurred, Ward answered, "Well... He looked very injured."

"Just bring back his corpse, you never know when you may need it." These were the words said by Turoth as he blew into his horn to summon more of his reinforcements.

Now that he had successfully dodged a huge bullet, Ward let out a deep sigh of relief. He has been poisoning Tenshi for a week now. The poison takes its time to take effect, and the only way it might harm you is if you were already injured.

Ward was aware that it was in his best interest to keep Turoth preoccupied in order to avoid any complications, since the more questions he was asked about Tenshi, the less he could lie.

Soon, dozens of the Winged-Imps appeared, and along with them came a person wearing golden jewelry and heavy armor who rode on a winged demon mane.

Two other beings stood at the immediate left and right of the heavily armored Devil. If Tenshi had been awake at the time, he would have said that the two of them look like gargoyles, with one being a blue gargoyle and the other a red gargoyle.

Both Ward and Turoth bowed low before the heavily armored Demon, giving a token of respect for him by going on their knees.

"My Lord, we have caught the Leviathan, but the unique child has been severely injured by some goblins who ambushed him." Turoth, on his knees, lowered his head.

When Ward saw the huge armored person with the Armored gargoyles, he, too, got down on one knee. His name is Gar'goth, and he's a High-Rank Devil who descends from Abishai.

"I see… Return them to the castle at once!" Gar'goth growled, tossing a vial of demon blood to Ward, adding, "And you... Here... take Turoth with you for your transformation."

Afraid about the safety of the blood, Ward held it close to him like a baby.

Gar'goth took a glance and saw that the area was littered with the dead corpses of goblins, along with one hobgoblin.

"It's unfortunate to lose such a good warrior," Gar'goth stated, complementing Tenshi on his accomplishment of killing everything with just crude weapons.

Gar'goth, in contrast to his fellow Devils, is a genuine warrior. He values power and honor, and he avoids engaging in activities that may be seen as being "dishonorable" for him.

As the strange thunder rolled in close to where Tenshi lay unconscious, thunderbolts struck repeatedly, prompting everyone to raise their weapons in case of an attack.

"LOOK," exclaimed Turoth as he gestured toward Tenshi.

Tenshi, who was without a right arm, started to grow a replacement adorned with ornate golden tribal tattoos. Then, out of nowhere, from behind Tenshi, two white, gigantic wings unfolded. His long red hair was gradually getting enhanced with a white hue at the ends.

From the wings came a magnificent light that shimmered brilliantly, burning the imps to ashes.

While the light was fading, Tenshi's eyes fluttered. Bright light emanated all around Tenshi.

As soon as Tenshi opened his eyes, the sound of a frightening rumble came from his mouth.

"ARISE"
