6 Chapter 6: The Machina Race

A loud and shrill scream of pain could be heard throughout the eerie atmosphere of the ghost town. It came from Madison as her evolution had started after a few hours of sleep that she had gotten. It was 4AM by Earth's time where she was in the United States, or what was left of it anyways.

Madison was cupping her left hand around her left eye while her right hand was clenched into a fist tightly as she was in immense pain and could not open her left eye at all. Much to her dismay, her left eye was actually no longer there, as on the inside of her, microscopic nano-machines were being generated inside of her at a rapid pace. Along with this there was a large concentration of nano-machines at her left eye, her head, and her lower back, along with a large and dense wall of nano-machines surrounding her like a barrier during this entire process.

The nano-machines on her lower back were concentrating to form a long tail with a headphone plug, the ones on her head were forming what looked like cat ears but were clearly mechanical as they were glowing a deep blue as if LED lights were inside of them, and finally the nano-machines in her left eye socket were creating a new cybernetic eye that was a deep blue color instead of her right eye which was a blood-red crimson.

After what felt like an eternity, Madison felt the pain begin to subside and she could be seen finally getting her bearings of her surroundings. At first all she could see was darkness as the dense cloud of nano-machines were still surrounding her, but after a few seconds they began to swarm her before entering her body almost as if simply passing through her skin like she was never there. She was afraid of the cloud at first but as they harmlessly entered her she calmed down again.

Once the cloud of nano-machines finished entering her body, she felt like she slept for years and had awoken feeling more vitalized than what could ever be possible. After a short moment Madison noticed a slight twitch behind her and finally noticed her new tail that was extra long and was about 4 feet in length. She could barely move it but the more she tried the easier it got to move and before long she was able to fully control her new tail and could wrap herself in it with ease. Though she was curious about the headphone plug on its end and what it could do, she also noticed her hearing was enhance by what felt like 100. She could easily hear the wind outside even though the window was closed and latched and it wasn't even windy outside at all. She put her hands on her head feeling her new ears and she felt the metallic touch of them before deciding to check her status to see her new changes.

"Menu...Status." said Madison, but as she said this she noticed fluctuations in her vision that would never have been there before, like what you would see in a sci-fi movie when looking through the eyes of a automaton. Then she remembered the pain in her left eye and realized something probably changed with that too.

When Madison saw that her race had changed and that her stats and skills were tremendously increased, she was excited as ever to see what she could do now. However she was still wanting to sleep as it was now 5AM in the morning and with her enhanced senses she could somehow tell that the monsters that were patrolling at night were much stronger than during the day.

=====6 hours later=====

*yawn*

Madison wakes up and feels great now that she didn't wake up to pain this time. She was full of energy and also didn't feel hungry at all which confused her greatly. She thought that it might have something to do with her race and decided to ask Aiko about it.

[Due to your evolution, you no longer require food to sustain your existence, all you require is energy, no matter what kind, as you are now new race called the Machina. You can take in any type of energy and use it to fuel your body. It is unknown what this effect this will have on the living however, so if you wish to try, please use it on the monsters instead.]

"I wouldn't dream of using that on other people in the first time, unless they're scum, then I will use it...en masse." said Madison before going to her closet but stopped as she wanted to ask Aiko something. "Hey Aiko, what can I do with my construction skill?"

[As long as you have energy stored you can create anything with your nano-machines. The more energy you expend to construct something, the stronger it will be, however it is better to use the intervals setup with the skill instead of guessing as it can lead to using too much or too little to do tasks.]

"Can I use energy to create clothing?" said Madison since if she could make 'anything' out of her energy and didn't need to eat anymore, than that would make her life much more easier.

[When I said anything, I meant anything, however the more complex the item you wish to create is, the more energy it will take to create, I won't go into how long the zeros can get.]

"Okay, note to self, don't go overboard." said Madison before starting to make a duplicate set of armor that she originally had from her starter pack but also created a one-piece short dress to go under it that wouldn't hinder her in combat but would also look nice.

Madison looked through the different grades that she could make an item but decided to stop really quickly after realizing that she kept miscounting how many zeros were on the energy price tag for the very long list of grades. She started with the light grade but noticed that wearing a dress, even a short one, would hinder her abilities. After thinking for several minutes, Madison decided to use a pair of deep blue jeans with a blue long sleeve shirt and a hoodie that has stars and many colors on it with a single black hole in the center sucking the stars around it in with a single deep blue K in the center(Image on discord). This would be the Kondark Crest from this day forward.

She had integrated the toughness of armor into her outfit so that way she didn't need to feel like she was hindered by added bulkiness and this made her feel more comfortable fight with. Just before she was finished she decided to create a pair of headphones with the same deep blue glow that her ears had with the letter K engraved on each earpiece. She felt that she was ready to head outside and checked how much energy she used to create this outfit.

"Not too bad, not too bad." said Madison as she felt completely comfortable with her new outfit and headed outside. She was ready to return to work as she wanted to get as strong as possible. She did not want to be ill prepared for when she reunited with her family, just for them to be wiped out because she couldn't protect them. She would be the strongest if necessary.

"Now...let the hunt begin." said Madison with a creepy grin on her face as she walked outside with a light chuckle.
