13 Chapter 13: Exodus(Part 2)

"Move...NOW!"

Madison grabbed Marcus' hand and yanked him across the roadway until they were under the cover of an overhang from an office building nearby. They hid behind two pillars and waited for whatever was coming to them to arrive. The whistling became so high pitched it sounded like a scream before a loud bang could be heard and dust went flying at them at high speeds.

When the dust cleared, they looked over at the roadway, or what is left of it, to see another griffin, however this one was light green in color, unlike the first one. It looked directly at Madison and Marcus and howled an ear piercing screech at them. Madison identified the griffin as a [Cyclone Griffin].

"We just can't catch a break huh?" Madison said aloud to no one in specific. The Cyclone Griffin began to move towards them at a slow pace while eyeing each one of them in caution, as they had just defeated its sibling. The griffin began growling deeply at them before slowly prowling towards them eerily.

"Cover me." Madison shouted to Marcus, to which he responded with a nod and a slam of his shield in the ground in front of the Cyclone Griffin, causing it to expand into a small wall.

Madison then used her nanos to create thickly padded gloves to allow her to grab her Talon without irritating her burns on her hands from her gun. She also added arm braces that were connected to the gloves to help with controlling the recoil. Once she finished she brought back out her Talon, though it was still uncomfortable to hold, and readied it towards the griffin.

"Ready." Madison got beside Marcus as she saw that he too was ready. They nodded to each other and Marcus deactivated his shield wall while Madison began firing at the griffin. After several barrages from her Talon, the griffin was virtually unaffected from what they could tell as it just continued glaring at them before letting out a shrill screech. At first it only seemed like a kind of war cry, but as time passed, the winds began picking up and before they knew it there was a torrent of wind surrounding all of them, throwing debris in every direction. Both Madison and Marcus run for cover from the debris as they hide inside a nearby entryway to a building that Kat was not at. Just as they entered the entryway, the debris that the Griffin was using just...stopped.

The debris was suspended in midair as if frozen in time as the Griffin glared at the two of them. A subtle flicker happened in the Griffin's eyes before the debris reoriented before firing directly at the entryway at high speeds, causing Madison and Marcus to have to run further into the building. The first floor of the building was being torn apart like swiss cheese as the concrete debris pelted the walls constantly, following the two of them as they went for the stairs to the 2nd floor.

It took Madison and Marcus all the way to the 4th floor before the Griffin appeared to have run out of 'ammo'. When they got to the window the realized that the Griffin was no longer there, moments later there was a gust of upward wind and a gigantic shadow flying by from in front of the windows. The gust of wind shattered the windows with ease across that wall before the debris was once again picked up and flew to the sides of the griffin in midair. Madison and Marcus saw this with wide eyes before heading to the opposite end of the floor that the griffin was facing before they were once again pelted with debris.

They both hid behind several layers of internal walls as the faced each other, crouching on the floor. "Marcus, do you have anything that can blind or break that wall of debris from that Griffin?" Madison shouted over the loud crashing sounds of the flinging debris.

"I don't. I know how to make them but I was never able to find anything at the military installation that you found me at!"

"Tell me how, I'll do my best to recreate it, just describe it as much as possible and as fast as possible! I don't want this place coming down on our heads!"

It took Marcus quite a while to explain the components of a simple pipe bomb. Making something like C4 was difficult for Madison due to how it functioned. By the time Madison had a decent understanding of its components, the Griffin had caught on to their hiding spot and had begin to fly around to the other side and it was low on debris to use. Madison had grabbed the nano pipe bomb and had it in hand, ready to detonate when the Griffin came around. They felt the familiar wind gust of the Griffin's approach before seeing the shadow of it, followed shortly after by the Griffin itself. Madison had integrated a timer into it to prevent accidental injuries so she handed it to Marcus. "Give it your best throw on 3. 3!...2!...1!...NOW!"

Marcus chucked the pipe bomb as hard as he could after activating the timer...at the ceiling. Madison cursed in her head before kicking the pipe bomb towards the Griffin outside of the broken window. She quickly readied her Talon as she watched the bomb approach the Griffin and pass by the remaining debris that the Griffin had. When she felt that it was close enough to maximize damage, she fired her Talon, hitting the bomb square in the center of it with the help of her modified Machina eye.

*BANG*

The explosion sent the Griffin reeling in searing pain as the bomb scorched it badly. The concussion of the bomb also sent Madison and Marcus into the wall behind them before they fell to the floor for a moment. The building shook violently as the two of them stood up hastily as they looked around for signs of what was happening. The floor underneath them shifted before their view of the outside began to do the same, followed shortly by their loss of balance...the building was collapsing...
