3 Getting Noticed

As Percy was climbing back on the marine's ship, he noticed that he was one of the last ones. His superior was pissed that they had to wait for him because the island was already rumbling about to sink back into the ocean.

"Took your sweet ass time" his superior officer reprimanded him.

"Next time hurry up, we almost died because of you".

After getting scolded, Percy leaned over next to the nearest person and whispered to him,

"I forgot the captain's name, what was it again?"

The marine looked at him as if he was an idiot.

"His name is Commander Peking from headquarters" replied the marine, "you should remember him, he is always beating your ass every time he sees your face. I think he hates you for some reason."

[I don't know what I did, but I gotta stay away from that man] Percy thought as he started to perform his duties on the ship.

As night grew, Percy was the only one awake in his sleeping cabin and was staring at the devil fruit he found. He wondered if he should eat it or not. On one hand, it would give him immediate power and would likely be key for his survival. Or it could be that the devil fruit is useless and he would be a waste for the rest of his life.

[Decisions, decisions] he thought to himself, [I don't know what to do].

As if God responded to his call, the boat shook and Percy accidentally swallowed the fruit. He started to panic, [I haven't decided yet! I wonder if I can spit it out]. When he tried, the fruit didn't leave his mouth and he was therefore forced to swallow the fruit.

[This sucks, if I am stuck with a stupid fruit such as the jacket-jacket fruit, I will be so pissed that I'm just going to jump off this stupid boat].

However, as he was contemplating on what to do, he noticed that there was a dark smoke leaving his body. He was scared at first because he thought that something was wrong with him, but quickly realized that he didn't feel anything from it.

Percy was hesitant to try out his new powers because he was afraid that he may sink the ship and would die even before his adventure began.

Therefore, he decided to wait until he reaches Marineford and talk to someone about his fruit, maybe someone will be able to notice what his fruit is.

Days went by quickly and Percy found himself at the home base of the most powerful organizations on the planet, Marineford. He quickly exited the ship, but not before getting an earful from Commander Peking.

"And just where are you going?" shouted the douchebag.

Percy was getting tired of being treated as a second class citizen by this prick, he was the only one being bullied the entire trip back from God's Valley and he was pissed.

He started to speak when he got slapped, in front of everyone.

"I did not tell you to speak, ensign" Peking mocked. "Don't speak unless I say so."

Everyone stopped and stared at Percy and Peking. The lower level officers had disapproving looks on their faces while the higher ups scrunched up their faces. It was quiet as everyone was looking at the exchange between an ensign and a commander.

[Trash] thought Rear Admiral Strawberry, [is this how commanders treat their subordinates these days?]

Percy had just enough of the bullshit coming from Peking, he started to exude a dark presence from his body and the atmosphere around him started to get darker.

[I am not going to tolerate this any longer] Percy thought to himself and his hand started to turn into black smoke. This started to frighten Peking because he was not aware that the trash ensign he always picked on had a devil fruit.

[If only he had told me!] Peking thought to himself, [I would have never picked on him if he just told me that he had a devil fruit].

But it was too late, Percy stretched out his hand towards Peking and the Commander noticed that he was moving closer and closer to that dark had. He was terrified, he had been in plenty of battles, but this is the first time he felt genuine fear for his life. The hand grabbed his throat and Peking started to fight back, it was not successful. He could not break the ensign's grip, so he resorted to kick his stomach.

Percy peeled over as the kick was so sore that he felt like vomiting blood. Peking started to gather his breath again, but before he could punch and hopefully kill Percy, he felt his head hit the ground and a hand on his back.

Standing over Peking was Sengoku and he was not looking at him, instead he was staring at Percy with confusion mixed with a little excitement in his eyes.

[It seems to me that this boy found the darkness-darkness fruit after Xebec was killed] Sengoku pondered to himself. [It will be worth training him to be a great marine in the future]. He was excited and nervous because he knew that those who ate the darkness-darkness fruit always had a habit of bringing out the darkness in their hearts out for the world to see.

[This will be exciting] Sengoku thought as he ushered for Percy to step forward.

"What is your name soldier?" Sengoku asked Percy politely.

"Percy Arius!" Percy shouted and said afterward "Thank you for saving me".

"Relax" Sengoku admonished, "for your life is about to change for the better."
