7 Chapter 7

Aaron sighed as he felt that the world was playing a big joke on him.

"Hi, I'm Aaron, it's nice to meet you."

Aaron replied to Dana with a wry smile as he mentally fumed at the universe. Dana thought that Aaron was mad at her and shrunk back while somehow shrinking.

"Now then on my mark the spar will begin."

Aaron jetted his staff and took his stance. Dana was in her head when the declaration came and fumbled around to get ready. The giant mace that she was lifting seemed to be very unwieldy for her as it was twice her height and seemed to be heavier than it looked.

"Begin."

"Reinforce 3, strengthen 3."

Having a feeling about what was going to happen, Aaron chanted under his breath and charged toward Dana.

"S-sorry!"

Yelling an apology that was out of place for a fight, Dana swung her mace horizontally like it was a feather. As the mace swung it shattered the ground in its path. The debris flew at Aaron like a hail of bullets.

"Are you kidding me."

Aaron swore under his breath as he struck the ground with his staff as he leapt over the debris. Aaron twisted his torso as he hurled his staff like a javelin at Dana.

"Hyah!"

Dana cried out as she swung her mace to deflect Aaron's staff. As Aaron hit the ground he leapt into Dana's range of motion.

"Eeeh!"

Dana was flustered and only had time to raise the handle of her mace in defense. Aaron struck the handle sending Dana back a few feet.

Aaron also backed off as he grabbed his hand in pain. His hand had deformed as

"I know that thing is heavy but that feels like I just punched a mountain. Uh, Reposition."

As Aaron complained to himself, he chanted a spell. The light veins converged on the muscles in his fingers. The muscles contorted as they forced the bones in his hand back into place.

"Well then, guess I need to put in a little more effort. By the way, you really need to work on your focus, you get flustered way to easily."

"S-sorry."

Dana apologized in the middle of the spar while getting even more flustered. Aaron retrieved his staff as he looked at Dana's mace.

"The mace is really heavy, but you move it around with an unnatural speed. However, when you swing it your center of gravity gets pulled off balance without affecting the trajectory. You probably have some sort of telekinesis as your fractured ability."

At Aaron's analysis Dana wryly smiled as she acknowledged that Aaron was correct.

Aaron smiled back as he charged at Dana. He managed to get in her swing before she could attack.

"Sorry!"

Dana called out as she dropped her mace. Aaron looked up as he realized what her action meant.

"Son of a-"

Aaron dropped his staff as he braced himself. The mace pressed Aaron downwards, forcing indents in the ground from its weight. Aaron's muscles contorted with the light veins as they attempted to muster enough strength to force the mace off.

"Haa!"

Taking advantage of the trapped Aaron Dana flung some of the debris around her at Aaron. The debris collided and created a cloud of dust.

"Huff, huff,"

Dana planted as she sat down from exhaustion. The observer took some notes as he prepared to end the match. However, a light began to shine from the cloud.

"Reinforce 4, strengthen 4."

The light veins on Aaron's body began to form patterns as he chanted once again, increasing the intensity of his magic. The muscles in his body flexed and contorted as they used all their strength to bear the burden of the mace's weight.

"Another thing, don't assume you've beaten somebody until you can confirm it. Otherwise, you're just raising a revival flag."

Aaron hefted Dana's mace as he walked towards her. The ground cracked beneath him from the combined force of the Macy's weight and Aaron's magical energy.

"Eeek!"

Dana cried out as she backed away from Aaron. Although she had wielded the mace earlier, she had used her ability to levitate the weapon in her hands. She wouldn't have been able to lift the mace otherwise, much less swing it.

Aaron grinned as he made his way over, the earth rumbling with his every step. Combined with the light patterns his appearance was rather frightening. It seemed that it had a strong effect on Dana as she ran away from him.

"I forfeit!"

She called out to the observer as she sped away towards the waiting area. The observer looked on dumbfounded at the unexpected scenario.

*Boom*

The earth trembled as Aaron set the mace down. As he deactivated his magic his body began to give off steam. The temperature created from utilizing his magic to support the mace had risen to enormous levels. As the fatigue began to set in Aaron pooped himself on the ground.

"Man, it's been a while since I've done something like this. Gotta admit, reinforcement magic certainly has its appeal. But man, I've gotta work out a better cooling system. If I go any higher than 4, I could cook myself."

Aaron talked to himself as he massaged his muscles. The observer looked around in stunned silence from the absurdity of the situation. Gathering himself he declared to the remaining student.

"You can go back to the waiting area now."

Aaron sighed as he lifted his steaming body off the ground and headed to the waiting area.

After school was over Aaron was sitting on the living room couch as he watched over the Ian's while they were working. He sipped on his coffee as the Ian's faces twitched while they diligently filled out their sheets of homework.

"Now then, I've got some errands I need to run, if you two slack off while I'm gone, I will know about it. And if that happens, you two know what punishment you'll get, right?"

""Yes sir!""

Aaron smiled as he made his way out of the dorm while the Ian's continued to struggle with their homework. As Aaron made his way off campus he looked around and sighed as he made his way out. He made his way to a particular section of the city that housed government facilities. More specifically, the building he made his way towards was a military training facility for specialized combat troops.

"Welcome back Sergeant Major Thorne."

The receptionist behind the counter smiled and greeted Aaron as he walked in through the doors. Aaron waved as he made his way over. He retrieved two military id cards from his pocket and presented them to the receptionist. The receptionist took the cards and scanned them through a reader.

"The Lieutenant and the rest of the platoon are getting ready in room 3."

"Thanks, I'll make my way over."

Aaron waved goodbye as he made his way down one of the hallways. Before anyone noticed there was a girl walking beside him, humming to herself as she skipped along.

"You just can't contain yourself, can you?"

Aaron jokingly asked to the girl beside him. The girl smiled and walked in front of him and turned around cutely. The cute innocence of the action combined with her looks would make most men fall head over heels for her.

"Of course, I am, I haven't had a chance to cut loose in a while."

"Just remember that we have to limit the scale of our actions."

"Boo, your no fun."

The girl pouted and turned away from Aaron as she made her way down the hallway. Aaron smiled as he patted her head.

"Look on the bright side, we get to have a rematch."

"Oh? You sound excited. Not worried that I could win and take control?"

"Nah, we have an agreement, and I know you'll keep it. We both still share the same view on promises."

Aaron smiled as he looked down at the girl. The girl looked like she could be his younger sister. She smiled as she looked him in the eye.

"Guilty as charged, hope."

"I know, hate."
