14 Body Immune To Poison

Asura looked at the snake and noticed its non-oval head. He infused his finger with Spirit Energy and cut off the bottom part of the snake, and then slowly opened up the head part remaining in his hand.

Xia: "What are you looking for?"

Asura: "I'm trying to find its poison sack. I want to test whether this poison works on me."

Xia: "I don't think that's a good idea."

Asura: "Don't worry. The worst thing that can happen is I'll have to cut off my arm and wait for it to regrow if the poison is far too potent."

Xia: "Do you... not fear pain? True, you can cut off and regrow your arm, but it will hurt and it will also consume a lot of your energy."

Asura: "You don't need to fear pain."

Xia: "What do you mean?"

Asura: "Basically, pain is just a way your body tells yourself that it doesn't like what's going on with it. You merely clench your teeth and endure. Besides, didn't we already have this experience just a while ago?"

Xia's thoughts traveled to the scene with the purple serpent and her expression became sour. It's an unpleasant experience they had to go through, which even left a bit of lingering fear in their hearts, but she still couldn't deny Asura's words.

Xia: "But... what do you do if the pain is too strong?"

Asura: "You don't need to worry about that either when I'm near you, just sever your nerves above that area and I'll help them re-attach later with my Soul Spirit."

Xia: "Oh... I didn't think of that."

Asura: "Only a fool would endure pain in vain. If you want to train yourself against the pain, that I can understand, but if you're enduring pain just to prove yourself, it only proves you are a fool. For those who can't recover their nerves so easily, they can press on them very hard and cause an effect similar to local anesthesia. Although this also cuts off your control of that area, it's a worthy trade-off in my opinion since something that hurts that much isn't likely to be usable anymore... without any side-effects, that is."

Xia nervously twirled her fingers around as if contemplating whether to ask what was on her mind or not.

Xia: "Um... so..."

Asura seemingly understood what Xia wanted to ask from her gaze: "No, I didn't cut off my nerves back then, because I didn't have either Spirit Energy or Soul Spirit with regenerative abilities.

Xia: "Figured..."

Asura: "Ah! Here it is."

He used his fingers coated in Spirit Energy to carefully remove a small finger-sized sack, although that 'finger' size was in respect to his finger, not an adult's. The liquid inside the transparent sack was transparent as well, as if it was pure water and not dangerous poison.

Asura: "This thing is good for mixing in with drinks..."

Xia: "Uuh... can you... not?"

Asura: "Well, I hope there will be no need for that, but you never know what to expect in life, do you?"

Every time such a topic comes around, the two would inadvertedly think about the events with the purple serpent and then let out a heavy sigh afterwards.

Asura asked the fox to help him out by slicing open the skin on his middle finger and then he carefully put a drop of liquid from the poison sack over it. Immediately after he put it, the drop submerged inside the wound and shortly afterwards, the wound closed.

Asura: "Hm? Eeeh???"

To his surprise, he didn't feel any pain, discomfort nor anything similar. His shocked reaction was because he saw what happened inside his body with his ability. Asura and Xia named this ability "Gaze of Chaos" because of how chaotic information was when fed back if not controlled.

Gaze of Chaos showed him everything that took place, but only on macro scale, as he was still far too weak to use it for any more detailed observations. When poison came in contact with his blood, all of its content rapidly got degraded, converted and absorbed by blood as if a hungry beast suddenly saw a delicious treat in front of itself. The only effect this poison had on his blood is a slight chill, seemingly because the poison was ice-based.

Asura: "Eh? Eh?? Wait, what?! My blood a..absorbed the poison?!"

Xia: "Ah, yes. I overlooked the fact that we're most likely not humans in this life, so that kind of weak poison won't have an effect on our bodies."

Asura: "Which is to say, there will surely be some poison for every being in this world?"

Xia: "Naturally, otherwise how would nature keep the equilibrium if there was a race resistant to everything. Even if there was one such race, they'd be destroyed sooner or later by other races due to their unique trait, most likely."

Asura: "Yikes..."

Xia: "Yeah..."

Xia: "Anyway, let me try too."

Asura: "Hmm, okay. But be ready to miss a finger or two for a while if anything goes wrong, okay?"

Xia: "Don't worry about me, I have my Black Phoenix Soul Spirit. At most, I'll have to burn a bit of my blood and that's it."

Asura: "Well, that's true... Alright, here goes!"

The fox assisted this time as well, cutting open Xia's hand and then jumped back to Asura's shoulder. After a while, they were able to see Xia's body behaving the same as Asura's.

Asura: "Are you sure we don't share the same blood?"

Xia: "Of course we do, why even ask?"

Asura: "Huh?! Then how are we not brother and sister related by blood?"

Xia: "Well, we have neither mother nor father so... as I said, we are soul-related siblings since our souls are connected together."

Asura: "Then, there won't be any genetic complications?"

Xia: "Aah, that's what worries you, is it? No, in this world, there's no such a thing."

Asura: "Eh? Does that mean in this world siblings regularly get together to form a family?"

Xia: "I think so, but it depends on the individuals, in the end. You know, some siblings can't stand each other, so there's no point in doing that."

Asura: "Damn. I didn't expect this."

Xia: "As you can see, this world is really different from Earth, so don't get too surprised by how things are here. Something that would never go on Earth may very well be a common thing here."

Asura: "..."

Xia: "Anyway, shall we go? I don't want to stay in this boring place all the time..."

The fox also let out a few cheerful sounds, showing that it agreed with Xia.

Asura and Xia looked at the fox and started laughing. There was no doubt this little fella was very intelligent.

The trio carefully strode in a direction of the Spirit Star, as that was their reference point while enjoying the night breeze. The night on this planet wasn't that much dimmer than day, but plants that were hiding during the day popped out during night to absorb the energy reflected from Spirit Star and in turn let out a soft radiance, sometimes even glow. All of this contributed to the natural fantasy-like beauty of this forest. The only thing that stood out way too much is the silence. There were no beasts anywhere where the three passed. Actually, apart from that one brave snake that tried to ambush the trio, there were no other beasts that were brave enough to try such a feat, since the snake quickly lost its life.

Asura didn't approve of killing without a valid reason so this was a perfect scenario for them, as they wouldn't have to spend additional energy on fighting with beasts and needlessly killing them. What the two kids didn't notice is that they became far less wary of 'weak' beasts that were, in reality, several times stronger than them, and all of that can be attributed to the purple serpent's threat that lingered along in their hearts. What threat could a mere snake represent in comparison to a serpent that was only an inch away from becoming a soaring dragon?

The two subconsciously matured much faster than other kids their age in a single day, to the point that it was quite unbelievable.

Asura: "If not for the scenes this little cute fox showed us, I'd think there are no beasts in this forest, but it's obvious that there are a lot of them, so why did we still not meet any?"

Xia: "That is, indeed, very strange."

At this moment, the fox let out a few noises, as if wanting to say something.

Asura looked at the funny appearance of the little cotton ball and smiled: "Do you know the reason, little cutie?"

The fox used its paw to touch Asura's head, then pointed to his heart and at the end to his belly.

Asura: "Are you saying... it's because of our Soul Spirits?"

*nod*

Asura: "Is there an aura radiating from us perhaps?"

*nod* *nod*

Asura: "So, that is to say, the aura coming from us is scaring the beasts away?"

*nod*

Little fox wagged its tail around uncontrollably whenever Asura gave it his attention. It truly was too cute of a creature to resist.

Asura: "..."

Xia: *sigh*

Asura: "I can't believe the reason is this dumb..."

Xia: "Well, at least we won't have any trouble on our way through the forest, I think."

Asura: "Yes, but... we also can't enter any city or we'll frighten citizens away if our aura is that scary..."

Xia: "We'll try to find a way to suppress our aura, but for now it's okay, right?"

Asura: "... I guess..."

Xia suddenly jumped and coiled her arms around Asura's arm, looking at him with yearning eyes full of innocence and love.

Asura smiled and crouched down, taking the fox in his hands and putting it to the ground.

Asura: "Little cutie, wait a bit."

Then, he crouched and picked Xia up on his back, just like before and then tapped his head twice.

Asura: "Alright, little fluffy creature, hop on."

Little fox didn't hold back at all, almost instantly reaching his head and then nestled there, fully relaxing on Asura's head. Xia looked at the scene of her brother carrying both her and little fox and found it intriguing. Since she had nothing else to do in any case, she started petting the tiny creature while scenery around them slowly changed.
