Even though I only did one damage it must have applied poison. If the poison was strong enough...
So while I was hiding...
He was taking damage...
Soo...he defeated himself?
Sweet! I'm so lucky!
I realized I was still hiding, so I got up and looked for my looot!
The body was right next to me, one more second and he would have found me....scary.
I touched the shadowy figure of the field boss.

Cursed? I decided to look at the details of the item before I made my decision.
Corrupted Shinobi sword- [lvl 1]
The shinobi that carried this weapon was once very strong and influential. The sword requires ten percent of experience gained every hour(while awake). If no experience is supplied, will forcibly take 10% from the total experience. This effect can reduce your level.

What in the world....it's such a huge responsibility...ten percent!! Every hour!!
I had to think for a minute. This weapon would probably be strong, but it would be a massive investment.
Wouldn't I just kick myself later if I didn't take it?

I gazed at the beautiful black blade with its intricate design. The length and balance felt amazing. It truly was a fearsome weapon.
I removed the memory cube's from my inventory and inspected them. They were blue, square, and glowed with luminescent light.
Now how to use them...

Holy cow! That's amazing! Aren't trade skills really important to games? How is it I don't know this?
I found that much like accessing game knowledge if I focused, I could "pull up" this information.
Despite my tremendous gain, I was perplexed at what was happening in my mind. Some things I "remembered" felt like information I was being fed. Especially game knowledge. It made me question whether I had ever really played games.
Fighting, on the other hand, felt natural. I felt a sense of Deja-Vu when swinging the sword like I had done it before.
I had no strategy for fighting monsters. Damage numbers, levels, experience, all this dinging! It all felt new!
My thoughts were interrupted as
I noticed the shadows had disappeared from the corpse. This left behind a man wearing a kimono.

The man was taking shallow breaths, but he did appear to be alive.
I could see his health bar above his head. He had one hp.
So, let him die....get rewarded...
Help him and get one XP!
How could I help him anyway, I don't have any recovery items...
Except for my other apple...

So lame!!!
Whatever, I guess it can't be helped.
I reached into my inventory and pulled out my apple.
Ok now, how do I get you to eat this...
A few minutes later, I had managed to stabilize the shinobi. I no longer had an apple.. which was no easy task.

Chapter 5
I had learned that this game was constantly reading my surface thoughts. This would cause impromptu menus to pop and game tools to become activated. For example, when I thought of the words "Who's this guy?" the game opened a window with his description.
Ding!
Lord MashaMura[Level 5 Ninja][NPC]-Once a mighty Shinobi, the cursed sword has drained his level back to a very weak state. His past holds many secrets.
I barely had time to read the description before the man began to wake up. He spoke groggily as he tried to lift his head, " You...I cannot believe I was defeated by someone so weak...".
Guy?
"Hey!" I retorted, " I'm not weak! I'm just low level!"
That was what I intended to say, but the game somehow changed my words. The game won't let you talk about levels to NPC's. Instead, it came out, "I'm not weak! I'm just not strong!"
Which made the guy laugh, " Not strong is weak...bah! A fool as well!"
I had to take a breath not to flip out on him. I calmed replied, "Well, this weak fool not only defeated you but also saved your life, your welcome. "
MashaMura tried to sit up quickly and groaned in pain. He coughed as he spat his words, " You hid from me like a coward! Where is my sword!
"A win is a win and I have it. Obviously. " I said indicating the sword in my hand.
He seemed confused, " It looks different...doesn't matter though give it to me! The curse will kill you! It is my responsibility! "
I shook my head, "I don't think I can man, it's bound to my soul."
Ding!
Cannot trade soul bound items.
He threw his hands up in anguish as he began to accept his fate. " Forgive me, not strong warrior, I have acted impulsively! Without honor! You have saved my life! Please allow me to come with you and help you master the sword! I know how to purify the curse! If you die, I will carry on in your honor!"
This guy.... is just gonna wait till I die and take the sword...he flipped so fast...
Should I trust him??

This is a very difficult, long quest only accessible through unusual means. If accepted MashaMura will join as a "companion", allowing him to take part in " looting", "Buff's", and experience gain.

Yeah, I can't trust this guy.
The quest said recover kingdom, so he lost a kingdom at some point. It must involve this sword...
