70 His Friends (3)

Critical Hit!

Iris deflated like a balloon, her head falling against the sofa. With tear-filled eyes, she looked up at Kyro.

She really wanted to shout at him. It took her quite some time to ensure that all of the sofa was wet, and yet instead of being frustrated or annoyed, he was joyous? How did it make any sense! How can you have successful revenge if the other person starts to treat your every action as something sent by god?

'Stop being so nice… How am I supposed to be angry with you like this?'

He chuckled at her and stepped away. "Go watch your show now, I won't interrupt."

'Stupid man,' Iris complained as she ducked into her towel den. Hidden from view, she shivered lightly, pushing away the image of a certain somebody leaning over to kiss her.

With a whine, she pulled the towel to cover the entrance, so she'd be left in pitch black. It helped little with destroying the image, but at least she was away from anyone's prying eyes now. Nobody could see how she was rolling on her back, clawing at invisible shadows.

"Hey, you all right?" a certain somebody asked, having lifted off the towel.

Iris froze, her legs lifted up, then rolled to her feet and ran to the other side of the sofa while screaming at him. Could she have no peace whatsoever? Even hiding now seemed prohibited.

Sullen, she lay down with her head lowered. At that moment, though, she remembered that the remote control was on the other side and he could change the channel. 'No way!'

Like a bullet, she ran back and grabbed the controller with her teeth. It was a bit too large and kept slipping out, so she let go and instead started rolling it away. This wasn't easy, but with determination, everything is possible.

In time, she got the controller to the other side of the sofa and lay down by its side, breathing heavy. One of her front paws was placed on the controller possessively. If anyone tried stealing it away, she was ready to fight to the death for it.

"Can I ask what you're doing here?" Kyro was looking between her and the controller, then her and the towel, clearly not making the connections. "Do I even want to know?"

Her answer was a light scream, and she turned to watch the TV. Or would have if a giant human had not stepped in her line of sight and changed the channel on the TV itself. "Let me at least find the animal one for you. Maybe you'll see yourself there."

The moment he stepped away, Iris started clicking the buttons on the remote control in a seemingly random manner. As much as she wanted to just return to the old one right away, it would be a bit too suspicious. That's why she went through a dozen channels back and forth before returning to her movie that was already midway through.

'Ah! I missed that awesome scene where the male lead saves the girl, damn it!' While she was lamenting inside, Kyro changed the channel again. He returned it back to the animal one, which showed sea lions lazing about and was telling something about their diet.

'Do you actually want me to miss the rest of the movie too? There are two more good scenes in there!' Like crazy, she returned to the remote control and started clicking on the buttons with a fervor.

This time, it took her half the time to return. At a glance, she knew the scene was still a couple minutes away, so she turned her attention to the perpetrator, who was actually raising his hand at the TV again!

'Don't you dare!' she screamed at him and jumped onto the coffee table to rush over to his side. With loud screeches, she jumped left and right, back and forth, trying to dissuade him from his plan.

"You don't want me to change the channel?" he asked, a small smile on his face as his hand kept raising in slow motion. She shouted at him to stop right this instant, but he didn't. "Can you do it again?"

'Evil incarnate,' she told him, seething. With a last scream at his obnoxiousness, she darted back to the sofa and got her channel back. Once that was done, she turned to Kyro with barely controlled anger.

Her head was low, but this time not in submission but preparation for attack. With a short scream, she warned him that this was the last time she was acting civil. If he dared to change the channel again, she was gonna lose her temper.

He raised his hand, and she was off. Like a flash, she appeared by his feet, with her teeth in his trouser leg. Without care for possible damage, she began tugging him away. It wasn't possible that she could actually pull him away, but maybe he would care for material damage.

"Hey! I thought you don't bite!" Kyro complained, squatting down to remove her from his trouser leg. She wasn't willing so they had a small tug-o-war until he managed to pry her mouth open and free his trousers. "You can't do that," he told her, hitting her nose lightly.

She shook her head and screeched at him. 'Then don't change my channel! I want to see— Ah! It's over, damn it, that scene is over, too! It was my favorite one!'

Dejected, she returned to the sofa and lay down by the controller in low spirits. There was only one good scene left in the movie, one by the end, and that's it. She missed most of the movie because of that stupid guy getting in her way.

Her whine didn't go unnoticed by the person she was complaining about. He came to her side and sat down on the arm rest, which was the only thing dry, and looked over at the screen. "What's with you and this channel? Do you like its soundtrack or something?"

Iris glanced at him from the corner of her eye. 'Is that your best guess? Try again.'

"Just how many tricks are hidden there in that little heads of yours, eh? Every time I start to think you're just a normal fox, you do something that leaves me wondering. Just what was your original owner thinking to teach you all these things?"

'I'm sure Aunt Maddie thought she was teaching me life skills,' Iris answered with a laugh, returning her gaze to the TV. Since he stopped interfering, she might as well watch the end of the movie. It was somewhat cute, and she could use a dose of cute instead of irritating.
