Chapter 31: All Together

Breana’s POV

As I was having my internalization, Alex looked at me and smiled.

“Of course I know that silly. I’m just trying to sort out things by myself first. But really, there’s nothing to worry about. You’re not going to lose me puppy. Not again.”

She ruffled my hair then made that clicking sound as she tapped her finger on the underside of my chin. Her usual cool move according to her.

I was about to slap her on the shoulder when I noticed how the class had suddenly turned silent.

As we both look around, we did not notice that the movie has already ended and the class is curiously looking at us, probably because of the clicking sound Alex made.

Even Sunny and Ari are confused as they look from their place in front.

Jea looks amused and curious at the same time. Alex looked back at me with the same expectant face with the audience as what I’m going to do with my raised hand that was supposed to come in contact with her shoulder.

“Yes, Breana? You want to say something about the movie in relation to our topic?” The teacher then asked, breaking the tension. Alex is smirking.

“Uhm..no, sir. Actually, I want to be excused. I need to go to the comfort room…”

“Okay.” Our teacher sighed as he reluctantly let me go.

“…But I think Alex has a lot to say about the movie.” I added as I hastily stood up and went towards the door.

I took a swift glance at Alex and found her now glaring at me. She is discreetly cussing under her breath. I put my tongue out to mess with her more.

That’s what you get when you mess with me Alex.

I smiled victoriously as I went towards the CR just for nothing.

The class dragged on until it was lunchtime. Good thing we are seniors who are allowed to eat outside the campus or else Ari would be grumpy with the food selection they have in the school cafeteria. Not that I mind though. We are both waiting for Sunny and Alex at the school gate.

Sunny arrived first.

“Where is that annoying hamster?” Ari asked, obviously not hiding the irritation in her tone.

“Chill. Are you really that hungry, Ari?” Sunny teased and giggled at her. I joined in.

“What are you two laughing at? It’s not funny.” She pouts at us then she slumped at the ground.

See, grumpy.

“By the way, Bree, what was that earlier?” Sunny inquired.

“Oh, nothing. Alex is just being herself as usual.”

“Oh.”

“Why? Is something wrong between the two of you?” It was my turn to ask.

“No, no. Nothing like that. I just feel like sometimes she’s not being her usual self but it may just be my imagination.” She mused.

“How is she being different?”

“Like what you said, she’s always acting cool and greasy and all but it doesn’t seem like that to me nowadays.”

“Her mind just seems to wander off sometimes.”

She just hummed.

After a few minutes, a confused-looking Alex approached us with Jea holding onto her arm.

“What took you so long?” We heard Sunny asked. It sounded as though we’ve been waiting for so long which is not true at all.

“Oh, hi Jea.” She then added, more curiously rather than welcoming.

“Hello. I-“ Jea started greeting but eventually was cut off by Alex.

“She’s the reason I’m late.” Alex explained while pointing at the smiling girl.

“Can’t we just goooo??? I’m starving to death.” Ari drawls.

“That’s the thing. I promised to accompany Jea and have lunch with her, so…” Alex says as she scratches the back of her neck.

So she’s basically ditching us for her.

“Why can’t she just join us? Food outside is better anyways.” I suggested.

“Yeah, we wouldn’t mind. Right, Ari?” Sunny agreed, taking my side on this one.

“Really, what’s taking you guys so long? I don’t care if we drag the whole class I just want to eat a big fat burger and a big bunch of fries with an extra-large coke right now.” Ari started throwing tantrums now.

A total baby. I inwardly said.

“Okay, let’s not keep this baby lion hungry or it may devour us all. Jea?” I asked.

We all look at her for the final say on this. I hope she says yes.

“Why not? As long as I pay for everything. I’m actually dying to meet Lex’ friends. I’m just waiting for her to introduce you guys to me.” She beamed.

“Did you just say you’ll treat us. Gosh, I love you already. What’s your name again?” Ari suddenly stood up and clapped her hands together.

The things she’d do for food. I sometimes wonder if her confessed love for me even come at par with her undying love for food and sleep. It’s also amazing how she doesn’t get fat; her body is so curvaceous at the right places.

“Jea, Jean Yoon. I announced it to class the first time I entered.” She reminded the hungry woman.

“Maria or Ari here forgets everything she’s told when she’s hungry. Which is, most of the time.” Alex butts in.

I and Sunny had to stifle a laugh. It’s actually true.

“Ugh, I don’t get it why you are friends with this annoying and greasy one. She’s not even funny.” Ari fake gagged as she drags both Sunny and me. “Let’s go get that free lunch.” She directed to the two of us with a smirk on her face.

If Alex is not saying anything, I bet Jea is different. She’s probably more than willing to let on some information than the cryptic Alex. Inviting her to eat with us would be the perfect opportunity to learn more and I’m also sure the others are interested also.
