2 You Don’t Have The Authority!

The next day came soon. The sun was shining through the half closed curtains. Outside were birds singing beautiful melodies, while flying through the morning sky.

"Ahaa.. one day, I swear to god I will kill every last one of these noisy birds! .. and buy better curtains." Squinting his eyes, he couldn't help but become irritated. Nei had such a nice dream, where he became the owner of a mean spirited System. But these beast destroyed all of it!

Nei lived all alone in the small apartment. That had only a tiny bathroom; with a toilet, a sink and a bathtub, a similar small kitchen at the entrance; with only one functional cooking plate, and the main room; where there was a bed on the left side, and a table with chair on the right. On the walls small cracks were starting to show, and a horrible stench was pertaining the whole room.

But that was to be expected, the apartment was far too old, as it was build during the First World War.

However in the end it was the cheapest option he had, and that was the most important to Nei.

He didn't find a well paying job yet, living partly from the generosity of his middle–class–rich parents. Not wanting to owe them even more, he choose the most dirt cheap apartment he could find. Even if they were his parents, he was determined to one day pay everything back.

Getting up from his bed, and wearing some clothes, he slouched to his desk. 'What a nice dream, I should really write it down, before I forget everything.. maybe I can even make a nice novel out of it..'

"HUH?"

Looking down right before him on the cleaned desk, he saw a familiar looking black laptop.

"No way!"

[Buhh!]

"Kyaaa!" Shouting, he jumped up for fright, like a scared little puppy.

Fanatically looking around the empty room for the culprit, he came to an understanding. "It wasn't a dream! Everything was real.."

Thats when another realization hit him, making him furious. "You were the one who scared me! Show yourself System! You evil bastard, hiding inside of me!"

[Don't curse at the system. There will be only one warning, the next time the host will receive punishment.]

Nei was speechless, it was obvious that the System had bullied him, but now he wasn't even allowed to revenge himself with curses. Although he found the treatment unfair, he was still worried about the Systems punishment, and stopped his cursing.

Sitting down at his desk—taking a deep breath while thinking about his future, his anger slowly wandered off.

"I went to sleep before finishing the logo's design. Let's continue from there first and finish the whole laptop setup. After that I will look at the mission details."

With the experience of yesterday, he instantly found the power on button, and pushed it.

The moment he pushed, the screen was lightened up, with the familiar three-already filled white boxes, and button to upload his company logo.

"At least I have something better in mind, than yesterday.."

Connecting his mind to the laptop again, he focused all his concentration– envisioning a clear image; A yellow ring, out of sand, engraved with the kanji of Mica.. *Grrroowwll* ah, I forgot to eat.. soo hungry!.. I wish I had some good Ramen right now . . .'

He was so hungry that he started imagining a bowl of Ramen in such detail, that the empty frame of the upload button, without Nei knowing–changed; it became what looked like a white bowl filled with delicious yellow noodles, bacon and soup. Standing on top a brown wooden board.

When he came back from his daydream and noticed the appearance of the ramen bowl logo, he was frightened.

Trying his best to delete the image as fast as possible. An accident occurred, he pushed the wrong button: not 'Decline' as he wanted, but 'Accept'.

"NOO! Everything but noodles! System can't you give me one retry?"

[Hosts own inabilities have nothing to do with the System.]

"I feared you would say that.. at least it does look tasty.. right?" *Groowwl*

Accepting his fate of forever ramen, he looked back to the newly appeared pop up on the screen.

Reading through the displayed information, Nei instantly understood the first four points. They were self explainable to him, only the fifth point wasn't completely clear to him.

"Hmn.. the apps don't really sound special. Aren't they just normal programs everyone can install and use?"

Curious, he clicked on the button to show him more details.

<Endlessweb>: Internet Explorer, that isn't restricted to only earths internet. Information from all parts of the universe can be viewed/searched. (Locked to earth)

Reading paragraph by paragraph, he was first excited but also confused, "Why is it locked? How can I unlock things?"

"Authority? How can I get more of that?"

'Stupid f*cking system!' Nei couldn't help but curse in his mind. Why did he need authority to check how to get more authority or whatever. It just didn't make any sense.

[Host is also forbidden from cursing the System in his head. Last warning!]

Feeling frustrated with the System but still being scared of it's punishment, Nei just kept quiet and went on to the nexts program detail section.

< Dream studio>: A place to code a game, build it and test it. Writing in this case has the meaning of—the host doesn't need any programming knowledge, and has to just write down in the form of words, exactly how the game should look, work, etc. to create it.

"What?.." Looking at the Text right before his eyes he couldn't believe what he read.

"That means I can create whatever game or application I want, as long as I write the idea and description down?", Nei was a little overwhelmed. Wasn't this perfect for someone like him without any advanced programming knowledge?

Hearing the Systems affirmation, Nei couldn't help but smile. He was worried about how he was to learn programming, on such short notice. Luckily this ability made this worry of his completely irrelevant.

"Good. Now to the last part." Still having a wide grin on his face, Nei clicked and opened the detail section of the last installed app; 'KM overview'.

<KM overview>: An application to have a better understanding of everything affecting the company. It automatically collects data, and concludes the best course of action for improvements.

"Wow, that's awesome but where is the cultivation part? I mean I don't really know anything about how to run a business or build a game even with these cheat apps, isn't that right System?"

"Where can I get stronger? And when do I reincarnate?"

"Not to forget the treasure that can split the heaven and earth, unchallenged in the whole universe. You're not saying I only get a laptop right!"

"haha..HAa..HAHAHA!"

"I am just joking with you, look how quiet you got.. puhuhaha!"

When the System realized that it was toyed with, it summoned a few dangerous looking flashes of lighting around Nei—warning him, yet it didn't attack. The System wouldn't attack with only provocations.

After seeing that the System didn't do anything to him, except showing it's discontent, he relaxed and went back to ignoring it. Focusing his concentration completely onto the pc's screen.

"Enter!".

Pushing enter, the screen that was filled with information, changed. Becoming similar looking to a windows desktop. It had a cursor, a background picture(the company logo) and three icons on the far left upper-corner side. The highest being 'Endlessweb', it's icon a picture that looked similar to how we imagine the endless universe to look. Under it was the second program 'Dream studio', with a picture of a half human, half machine looking brain.

And lastly, 'KM overview' with only two big letters, 'KM' and a bowl of ramen in the background..

"Nice, everything done." Having finally finished setting up everything, Nei stood up, grabbed his jacket and purse, before preparing to leave through the door. Going somewhere to eat while looking at the missions on his interface.

"Ah.. almost forgot that.." Turning one last time back to his desk he put his hand on the already closed laptop, while imagining the word 'Inventory'. The moment his fingers came in contact, the laptop vanished. And an icon of the thin black laptop appeared in his inventory space.

"Where should I go and eat today? Ramen?.."
