Chapter Eight: My First Teacher

Learning to use Ki again might help me in fights, especially hand to hand or weapon to weapon.

Ki is a life force that can be found in any living begins that can move. Unlike mana, Ki doesn't have any core or something like that. It flows throughout the body of a living being. Ki can be used in two ways; One way is to use Ki to locate living beings around (acts like sensory type magic). In another way, one can use Ki to enhance their combat abilities. Ki is one of the mysteries of the world.

Ki is something that I don't know about it. Even in my previous life, I used Ki but never understood its actual purpose. Well, Ki is used in enhancing your combat abilities. Even though it's just my intuition, I feel like there's more to it.

Urgh! My brain cannot comprehend this much information at once…. So, it's better to sleep.

~ The Next Day ~

After sleeping for fifteen hours straight, I feel alive. Stretching my body, and after getting fresh, I decided to continue where I left off yesterday.

I sat down; legs folded.

Everyone has Ki inside your body, but we won't know the existence of Ki unless we sense it flowing through our body. Unlike Mana, Ki doesn't have any core. It just flows throughout inside your body like blood flowing inside the body.

Ki is nothing but one's life force or life essence.

{Knowing the existence of Ki is like unlocking Ki to use it.}

I started focusing, and soon enough, I saw it flowing inside my body. It's not much of Ki, and as I thought, the colour is orangish.

My Ki isn't much because of the current state of my body. As of now, my current body hasn't gone under any difficult training or a fight where I am near my death door. From what I know about Ki is simple. More your body is in a dire state or in a state where you have hit your limit, the Ki inside your body increase.

< Explanation >

[ As of what everyone knows about and has, the initial colour of the Ki is orange. As said, Ki is a life force found inside everyone's living body. So, one can increase their Ki when their body has gone through many fights or gain experience when fighting with that body. It is even said that one's Ki can increase in the middle of battle/fight when one goes through a near-death experience or touch the death and come.]

A question has always struck me: Why does everyone have Ki inside them. Mana also enhances your body so does the Ki. Using Ki, we cannot use magic, but still, it's there inside your body. Is there more to this world than what I already know? So, it's just that I don't know anything about this world?

Argggghh. Just thinking makes me tired. I guess I will stop here, and let's just rest for the rest of the day.

Rest of the day, I did nothing and later went out for a walk.

~ The Next Day ~

Miss Enya asked me to meet her today at Guildhall, so as promised, I am on my way to the Guildhall.

Upon reaching, I saw her already waiting there.

"Sorry, did you wait for long?" I apologized.

"No, I also just got here."

"So, how can I help you today?" I asked her since she was the one to call me here. All she said was, "Follow me," on which I nodded and started following her. After taking a few steps, she stopped and turned around me, and asked, "Firstly, why did you have that dagger when you know how to use a sword."

"Umm…. that's because I bought it when I first went on my mission, and I have been using this since then."

"Don't tell you used this same weapon even for B-rank missions?" she asked me, and I nodded, "He-he."

"I don't know if I should praise you, or are you just a stupid, reckless boy? She sighed, "Well, whatever from where did you buy this from?"

I took her to the shop where I bought this dagger from. We entered the shop, and I said, "Hello," That old man came out from the same door where I first saw him coming from.

"Brat you back, eh?" He said, and from my back, I heard Miss Enya saying the name, "August."

"Oh Enya, Long time no see. What brings you here?" Old man or August responded. Do they know each other?

"August, what are you doing here?"

"Crafting weapon?" he replied.

"I know that," She once again sighed, "But what's with this shabby, not so good-looking shop?"

"Hey, that rude, you know… Well, then what brings you here?"

"I am here with his boy. I asked him where did you bought this dagger from, and he brought me here."

"Well, of course, I made that." The old man replied.

"No wonder it didn't break," Miss Enya commented.

"Break?" he questioned in confusion. "Actually, Miss Enya and I fought the day before yesterday, so…" I spoke.

"You fought Enya? With this dagger?" he also sighed, "I don't know I should call you brave or stupid."

Déjà vu?

"So, what actually happened." He asked us and Miss Enya briefly explained it to him.

"Oh, congrats Brat, on reaching A3 adventurer." And I thanked him.

"August, I have a request for you," Miss Enya said.

"Yes, what is it?"

"I would like to buy a sword for Art, and I also want you to craft a sword for him." She spoke. "Sword? For him?", he looked at me and smiled. "Sure, just let me know what kind of sword you want."

Later, I explained the kind of sword I wanted, though the explanation was terrible. And also bought a sword for temporary use.

Miss Enya and I left the shop, and she said to follow me again, and I started following her. I never thought Mr. August and Miss Enya knew each other more like they were close. Mystery, eh?

Minutes later, before I knew it, I was standing in front of a huge house or mansion?

"Come inside," she said, and I followed her inside the house. I wonder whose house, is it? As I walked inside, the maids and butlers were standing in the hallway greeting us more like getting Miss Enya. Watching this, I guessed that it was Miss Enya's house, OF COURSE. We then walked down the basement, and it was a vast space down here.

She turned around and looked at me as if she was looking inside me.

"You can use Ki now?" she asked.

Oh, that's what she was doing, "Yeah, I learned it yesterday," I replied.

"Yesterday? Boy, you never cease to amaze me. So how did you learn it?"

Of course, I cannot say that I learned it from my previous life. So, the only option is, "I read it in the book."

"Then you might also know about the Ki enhancement, right?" she asked, and I nodded.

{Ki enhancement: To enhance your combat strength. One can do this by concentrating the flow of Ki inside their body.}

"And also, you can use Electric element too, right?"

"Yeah, I just started learning it recently." And then she said, "So Art, would you like to learn a few things from? Like sword techniques and also a few things about electric elements?

"Electric element?" I asked in confusion.

"Oh, I never mentioned this before, but I can even use electric element." Saying that, she showed me her electric element.

Purple colour Electric elements that mean Tier-5 or Tier-6 level. "Gulp." Here I barely made her use the sword technique and Azure flame, and she even has an electric element on top of that; it's purple coloured.

Man, who would even reject this offer.

"I would be happy if you could teach me a few things, Miss Enya."

"Then, every day, come meet me here in the morning." She replied.

I nodded.

"Okay then, withdraw your sword. Let's spar for a while." With any question or hesitation, I drew my sword and took the stance. "But without using any mana, of course, this applies to me too."

For straight 10 minutes, we continued our spar, with no rest. And after ten minutes or so, I was on the floor sweating hard and taking heavy breaths.

"Let's end it for today. And yeah, bring an extra pair of cloth from tomorrow."

Though I didn't understand why extra pair of cloth.

After that, A maid comes down and asks me to follow her. I followed her, and she took me to a room and gave me a pair of cloth, and said, "Sir, please take a shower and join us down in the living hall. Enya Madam will be waiting for you."

I took a shower and changed my clothes into the one they gave me. After that, I went down to the living hall. Miss Enya was already waiting.

I sat down in front of Miss Enya with a table in between. I was provided with snacks and tea. Miss Enya then asked me about my family and my dad, and we talked about a few things. An hour later, I was back home.

After talking to Miss Enya, I felt like I didn't know anything about my father's past. I would like to know about it one day.

Enya's POV:

After sparring with Art today, he already knows how to use his sword. His movements plus combinations are pretty good. And on top of that, he can use his Ki now.

Interesting….

If he keeps on improving, then at this rate, he will easily surpass his dad. And I personally can't wait that day to come.
