2 Head Start

Chapter Two: Head Start

After a small break, I stood up, and I was ready for further training.

Alright, now let's see what I should do now…. Yeah, first of all, let's see what all elements I can use. And do that, I need to concentrate on my mana once again. Concentrating on my mana, I saw two different colours: one white and the other one orange.

[ One can find the element they can use just by concentrating the mana into their mana core. In mana core, when mana infuses, it shows the colour of the element one can use. One can even have more than one element. In Art's case, it's more than one: wind and fire (White is for wind and orange is for fire).]

As I thought, so it is wind and fire. Well, that's obvious…. Fine then, I will start by trying to combine both my wind and fire together. If I learn this in the initial stage, then things might become a bit easier.

[ To use magic, one needs to convert his original mana to that particular element of magic. And combining two or more elements need a lot of training. For an initial start, you can start just by combining two elements from its original mana. For example, in a mana core, there is original mana. Now, if you use two different elements in that core simultaneously, it will mix. But in the initial stage, you need to separate them and make it like when there's oil in water. The actual combining comes in a later part.]

~ One Month Later ~

After one whole month of training, I finally accomplished what I wanted to. Now it's time to move onward to the next stage.

Later that day, I returned home in the evening. After taking a bath, I went down the stairs for dinner. Mom, Dad, and Eli were already sitting at the table. I pulled my chair and sat down. Before I start having my dinner, I want to talk to my parents regarding my next step.

"Mom, Dad, I want to ask you something. More like I want to request."

Mom looked at me and replied, "Yes, Art, what is it?"

"I want to become an Adventurer."

After hearing this, for a brief moment, they stopped eating, and I was tensed. Tensed because what if they won't allow me, and then what will I do? Cause I don't want to go against my parents.

Mom and Dad looked at each other, and Mom finally replied, "Why do you want to become an Adventurer?"

I cannot tell them the actual reason for becoming an Adventure, nor can I tell them the exact cause.

"I want to try things that I can do." I confidently said.

Dad slightly smiles and says, "If that's the case, then we shall allow you but under one condition."

"Yes, Dad?"

"Don't do anything reckless that will worry us, Okay?"

With a smile on my face, I promised them, "Yes, Dad."

~ Next Day Morning ~

I heard someone coming upstairs, and before she knocked, I said, "Come in, Eleanor."

Eli opens the door and enters the room. But she was confused; her face said so.

"Yes, Eli?" I asked her.

"How did you know that I was coming, brother?"

Keeping both hands on the sides of my hip, posing like a hero, I said, "After all, I am your brother," with optimism.

Eli was giving a 'My brother is so cool' aura with sparkles in her eyes.

Jokes aside, I asked her, "So what happened?"

"Dad is calling you," She replied.

"Alright, I will be there in a minute." Hearing my reply, she went down.

A minute later, I also went down, but I couldn't find anyone inside the house. Then I thought of looking outside the home, that is, the front yard. And I found them. My Mom and Eli were standing beside each other, and Mom looked anxious.

Then I saw my father, who was standing away from them holding a wooden sword. "Why is everyone outside here? And Dad, you called me, right?" I spoke.

"Yes." Saying that he threw a wooden sword towards me, and I caught it.

"Before you become an Adventurer, fight me and defeat me," Dad said.

"Defeat you?"

"Yes!"

"Defeating an A-Class is not an easy task, you know," I complained.

"Well, that obvious, but if you could at least hit me once, then it's your win." He spoke.

"Alright," I sighed.

Defeating my dad is an impossible task, but one hit and win is not impossible. Alright! Let's do it.

I took my stance, holding the sword in my right hand, and enchanted it with my mana. Increasing its strength and impact.

"Oh, impressive," he passed the comment.

I instantly dashed forward at an incredible speed. I had a plan; I would get behind him, turn around and attack him.

With the intention of attacking him straight on, I got behind him. Turned around and attacked him.

*Slash*

But he blocked my attack, and I flew away and fell to the ground. *Thud*

In that instant, not only he blocked me, but he also attacked me; "sigh," I just forgot that he is an A-Class mage and combatant.

As I stood up, he said, "That was impressive, Art, but—" The aura around my dad changed. It was overwhelming mana-will.

My body is scared of it. I looked at my hands; they were trembling. It is as if a fire dragon is right in front of me.

{Arturo's Dad, Levine Kei, is a fire element user. A Tier-6 fire element user and one of the strongest fire element users in the Sapein Kingdom.)

I calmed myself and took a deep breath.

I once again dashes forward in my striking form. When I reached the distance, I wished for, I feinted my attack and instantly stopped using my wind magic. Sped to the right, moved towards the front, spinning my body along with my sword, hoping for a successful hit.

Unfortunately, my current body couldn't handle this combination, and I slipped. I was about to fall. But somehow, I managed myself.

Unsuccessful combination and attack, this continued for two minutes straight. I was low on mana now. Use it now or never was my motive, and somehow, I ended up in front of Dad in mid-air with the striking form again. My sword was not in front of me; instead, it was behind me in my striking form.

The distance was perfect. Dad was also ready with his stance. I used my left hand imbued with mana, grabbed his hand holding the sword, accelerated myself with my wind element, and got behind him. But Dad used his back and attacked me. I lost my balance in mid-air.

Taking advantage of that, I released my fire magic with no limit, covered my sword with it, and released my win magic recklessly. I attacked him with all my might.

Dad didn't expect this last moment all going out, and I took him by surprise. I attacked, but he blocked me. At that moment, I hit him on his gut.

"I win, right, Dad?"

A brief moment stops, and Dad replied, "Yes."

Right after hearing that, I laid down on the ground. I don't want to move for the next five minutes. If that was not for that attack, then I might not have won this fight. This I call this attack, not to expect the unexpected. "Chuckles."

After resting for five minutes, I woke up. I didn't find anyone outside. Oh Yeah, I remember them saying something, but I guess I didn't hear them. I went inside my house and found them. The atmosphere was a bit down, I think. Is it because I did that reckless thing?

I saw my sister running towards me and hugged me tightly. She looked up and said, "Brother, you were looking cool when fighting."

I put my hand on her and thanked her, "Thanks, Eli," with a smile on my face.

My Dad asked, "Does that mean I was not cool, Eli?"

"No, Dad, you were cool, but brother was more cool." She replied, and hearing that, my dad frowned. "Pfft."

My Mom walked to me, hugs and said, "Art, I was worried when you were fighting that monster... But as Eli said, you looked amazing when you fought."

"Thanks, Mom."

"By the way, where did you learn fighting from? Especially your way of using the sword." Dad questioned me.

I wish I could tell them, but --

I replied saying, "I learned them by reading books and trained myself. I have also seen you practicing quite a few times."

"I see. Well, then when are you leaving for the capital?" He asked me.

Hearing that made me happy. I can finally move forward. But one question struck me. How am I going to live there? I have no experience of leaving my house and live alone, not something similar to it.

"And how are you planning to live there."

I shook my head, denying that I didn't know anything…

"At least think about it when you are taking a big step." He sighed. "Fine, I will ask one of my friends over there if they could help you."

"Yay! My Dad's the best." I spoke.

Eli starts laughing, and so does everyone.
