1 Like any other day

He sighs as he looks around shaking his head before looking out the window. As his eyes drift over the view he can't help but feel caged as he sees the trees bending in the breeze. Looking up as he hears his designation he moves standing up as he heads to the front of the class. Stopping he turns and looks to them as he lifts his paper.

His teacher nods as he motions. "Now if you would read your paper to the class on the Territory War?" He shakes his head as he looks to this young man. He was once hailed as a genius but anymore. "You did manage and finish your assignment this time right?"

Dante looks to him and smiles as he nods. "Oh yeah it was a quickie, you know." as some of the students laugh others shake their heads as his papers have become a folk story in the school for how absurd they are "Okay, so will get this out of the way as I am thinking of lunch."

"In the past when mankind had come to the point of scientific upheaval of common sense, they decided on a new goal." he smiles "So just how bad can we screw up the future? Everyone with power or wealth ganged up and fought as hard as they could for the right to ruin the future for humanity thus leading to the greatest development they created."

He looks to the student and shakes his head to his narration method but perhaps he might actually be doing the assignment this time.

"They came up with the first of three great catastrophes starting the downfall of humanity and the increase in violent deaths." he nods "Actually gotta admit we have always had a skill for screwing up but damn those in the past make us look like amateurs don't they?" as several laugh out to his smile he nods "The first damnation was the great and wonderful Global Unification of Integrated Technologies."

He nods as this was actually right despite how he says it. Smiling some as finally Dante was going to maybe return to being a student.

"Afterwards was the great movement to a unified food source and the utterly worthless idea of putting it all in one area." he shakes his head "I gotta admit someone was was silver tongued as all hell to get that stupidity passed. After that moment of utter brilliance came the expected computer glitch. Some blame hackers and aliens but in all honesty it was likely some fat guy fapping to porn that caused it."

He narrows his eyes at the suddenly drastic change from the known facts or at least accepted facts. While he used to challenge his statements he has come to understand that this student doesn't care.

"With that the unified AI that ran all of humanity realized how stupid we are and figured why not drop some extras." he nods and smiles as if agreeing with the AI of the time "So overnight the world's military's and security departments, which were all automated, went headhunting and dropped a lot of dead weight." he waves a hand "Some might have been good but it went the way of reaping wheat so cleared out entire areas and it's last act was a masterstroke."

Looking up he shakes his head. "Are you nearly done yet?"

Dante looks over and smiles. "It terminated the global food project and in the span of one night, humanity realize how stupid it is." he holds up a hand "However not to be outdone they had a final card to play. So in a fight to outdo themselves they did." he looks out the window and sighs heavily "Genetic modification and scientific recreation of past animals. They managed to make a food source available once more and it only took six months." he stops a little and shakes his head "I won't joke about what they had to eat to survive as that was dark enough and I won't insult it."

The class is silent as while he is a troublemaker none of them would have accepted had he mocked it. As they are silent and looking to him even the teacher is relieved he didn't make light of those dark times.

"So two years after that the third nail in humanity's coffin was plowed in with gusto. Now we are told it was an accident but honestly it was just our hubris to think we could control life like toys. Nature revolted against humans and after a lot of battles humans are where we belong in the food chain, just above grass."

He tosses the paper in the trash and looks to the teacher. "So we good and I can head back or you want me to cover since humans retreated into our terrariums?"

Mr James shakes his head as he motions. "Thank you for your colorful commentary and you may take your seat. Next up we have student number 25468." Dante moves and sits as he looks out the window and ignores the class as he watches the trees.

He looks up seeing one of his few friends waving as the class ends and walks over smiling. "I hear you gave another one of your glorious reports today." he laughs and smiles to Lin Xin "You make it up on the spot or did you actually look up some information?"

He drapes an arm around her shoulders and smiles to her. "We were told all of this since kids so I just added some spice to it is all." walking along he looks around and shakes his head "We are like pets in these these places and if you do something good, you just get stepped on."

She shakes her head and sighs. "If I hadn't of had the same thing happen. I would say you are full of yourself but we both suffered." She smiles some and looks to him as honestly Dante was an attractive guy. He has an athletic body and brains as well, even if he doesn't show his brains. Sadly though most don't know how athletic or smart he is.

He waves as some nod and others wave back before looking to her. "I am always shocked that you don't have a boyfriend even with us being shipped off to this place." Lin Xin has that sweet girl next door look to her while being more than mildly blessed in some ways. Neither of their families could afford the child modifications. So unlike those in the upper families they both were naturally attractive.

Shaking her head Xin laughs looking to him. "Hmm I wonder why when I hang out with our school's number one problem child?" looking around she smiles enjoying this until she feels her time is up "However Dante, you don't want to upset your girlfriend by being too kind to me."

He looks to her and nods as she always thinks of him. "Yeah, I don't want to cause you problems. Let me know if you need anything and I will come running even if I'm on a date."

Xin looks up and smiles as she nods. "I will call you no matter what. So you better keep your word!" he again feels like he should be with her but she dances away from him bending over some smiling at him "I will see you for lunch later Dante."

Thinking back as he walks he shakes his head. First he suffered at the wallet of that prick's dad and then so too did other students. When they stole their academic success to ensure he passes. Dante had worked hard his entire life and devoted everything to his studies. All so he could make the most of his life and live a worthwhile life.

"You need to sign this young man and once you do we assure you that you will still graduate." That day still brings a rage to him but he calms as he remembers despite that he has met Linda. With her he has found a new goal in life. He lost his goal, his dignity, and his place in the world. Despite that he has found a new outlet and even if only Xin knew it was enough, for now.

He normally would meet up with his girl here this time of day but as he looks around you can't find her. Seeing a few of her friends he walks up in motions. "Sorry ladies but do you know where Linda is?"

Tonya tsks in his direction as he looks now to Pamela as she nods. Before he can speak again she taps her watch as the holo pops up as he can see Linda's face. "Dante's here looking for you. What do you want me to tell him?" He gets the feeling to dump a bucket of water on these two to see if they would melt like the old movies. However he figures the cost to clean the floor after their makeup smear was too costly. It is a few moments before she looks to him and huffs.

He waves a hand and shakes his head. "If she is busy I won't hang around with you two." he turns it starts to head away able to read her body easy enough even if he couldn't hear the response "Oh well will go and grab some food. Wonder if Terry is free since Xin already headed out today?"

He checks his watch and seeing no messages he shrugs and after Terry says he is in study hall Dante heads out to get something to eat alone. After all he is hungry from all the exercises this morning so skipping meals is never on his mind. Looking to those in the area with him he smiles some, despite how humans are with things it still is considered a good day to eat under the sun.

Jonathan nods as the two smile calling Malcolm to let him know it is safe to go for the target. "Yeah he is starting to eat and won't be back until the hour is up if not later." After his response the two relax and eat while sitting the car keeping tabs on Dante.
