8 The interrogation

Looking into the eyes of the brown eyed boy before her whom she qualified to be the greatest threat, she felt inexplicable rage swallow her very being." Where are they? Mirai, Lucas and Leo. Where are they?" She fumed.

The boy continued to smirk as he maintained eye contact with Jenny," Look around you moonlight.

Jenny was momentarily confused but showed no signs of her disorientation. Taking a deep breath, she moved her eyes away from the threat before her and scanned her surrounding cautiously. Dark, shadowy and immobile bodies were splayed across the floor surrounding her. Bodies of the children whom she had escaped with. Leo, Lucas, Mirai. They were right at her feet. She fell on her knees with vehemence, tears threatening to escape her eyes, grabbing hold of the nearest person's frigid hand, she desperately felt for a pulse.

Her anxiety chocked her as she waited in batted breaths to feel a pulse. However, after only three second, her impatience overwhelmed her and she placed her ear across the persons chest. Thump!... Thump!... Thump! The slow heartbeat awoke her from her anxious stupor. Relief, that's all she felt nourishing her like a shower of rain in the dry desert. She slowly moved away from the person's chest and looked at their face, it was Mirai. A barely noticeable smile formed on her lips as she gently set her down.

Turning away from Mirai's unconscious figure, her small smile disappeared. She rose to her feet and faced the three figures behind the bars once more. " Blankets. Their skin is ice cold, they need blankets." She stated with a deep look in her eyes. Shivers ran down the backs of Layna and Rye as the saw the look in Jenny's eyes while the boy's look remained consistent.

"Sure, but we need something from you...answers." The boy said." It's simple, we will just interrogate you, get our answers from you and that's it!" He exclaimed. Jenny seriously examined the three people and after a moment of silence she nodded as she moved closer to the bars in the area where she was confined.

"Fine, but first give me the blankets." She said firmly. The boy nodded to Rye who was besides him. Rye disappeared through a corner and after a few seconds, her reappeared, carrying a bundle of blankets in his arms. Walking towards the duo who were looking straight at Jenny, he nodded wordlessly. Layna pressed a button and the bars, which separated Jenny and the other three, began ascending into the ceiling.

Rye passed the blankets to Jenny, who immediately wrapped them around the chilly unconscious children. She then stood up solemnly and walked out of the cell. Layna grabbed hold of Jenny's hands, put restraints on them hastily with a forced smile, and began to follow the boy who had began to walk down the corridor lined with many cells. He stopped at a luminous white door and placed his hand on the scanning device and with a click, the door opened.

Before them was a bleached room which gave of an eerie feeling with two chairs facing each other and a strange device with head-gear attached to it at the far corner. Sauntering in, the boy sat on one of the two chairs which were opposite to each other. Layna looked at Jenny and gestured to the other chair and getting the hint, Jenny strode forwards and sat on it.Then the door closed with the two adults remaining outside. Still smirking at Jenny, the boy opened his lips and began to talk.

" Sooo...moonlight, welcome to the interrogation room, my name's James, and I'll be in charge of your questioning." He said nonchalantly then continued heartlessly" We will need you to cooperate so as to avoid any unnecessary damage happening to the kids you came with. Note. You have been asleep for a day and we are not patient." and after that brief introduction the atmosphere around him became serious but his smirk remained as the questioning began.

James: What's your name?

A brief silence.

Jenny: My name is Jenny.

James: What a lovely name moonlight...Now, here's another question...we were unable to identify your beast transformation before you passed out and it disappeared, What beast do you harbour?

Jenny: It is is of the panther species; Noir Panthera

James: That's amazing, here's a follow up question..who are those kids and how are all of affiliated with Nina?

Jenny: I hardly know them but..they- they are my family. Nina is someone who saved me, I am deeply indebted to her and even though I only met those children yesterday I think they would say the same thing.

James: Okay...so how did you guys find your way here?

Jenny: We did as she said.

James:Why did she want you here?

Jenny: Your guess is as good as mine...I- we do not know.

James: In-cooperation has consequence, just tell me the truth! Why?

Jenny: I don't know.

James: Liar. (eyes shining) Why did she do that?

Jenny did not answer any more of the questions as they became more and more unanswerable for her since she hardly knew Nina. However, James' relentless questioning continued for about an hour. It was like James was having a monologue. He looked deeply into Jenny's eyes ," It seems that this is going nowhere... let's use the brain scanner." He said as he stood up abruptly and Rye walked in and began dragging Jenny to the chair in the corner.

Unwilling to share her memories, she resisted, but before she knew it she felt a sharp object pierce her skin and metal locks securely circled her hands and feet. Then she heard James speak in a low, slightly regretful voices as a hand stroked her cheek.

"We will know everything!"
