11 The 10 year gap

Bane gazed at Jenny with his dead cold eyes, the frown on his face morphing to a diabolical smirk."That's a pretty good deal squirt and I know that you want me to agree to your terms in a snap, don't you?"

He asked lowly, paused, then continued solemnly, "Though... I feel like your deal is a bit flawed...you do know that the tenancy of you and those brats, is not an asset to us if you have no loyalty. additionally, if we keep those three children they could serve as assets to us once they make the pledge, voluntarily or involuntarily, and become the perfect soldiers. thus making the value of the info we get from you dim in comparison."

Bane smirked at Jenny contemptuously but Jenny remained unfazed. Looking into the eyes of the man who clearly looked down on her.He was clearly being given an inch but he wanted to take a mile. Jenny smiled scornfully " Is that so...now let me ask... how do you want to set this deal?" She questioned with disdain heavily lacing her words.

"You all stay here, make the pledge and you give us all the information we want." Bane answered plainly, he seemed proud that he had seemed to manage to make her waver.Upon hearing this, Jenny could not help but burst into laughter.

"Not only do you know how to say big words, you also know how to joke around." She said sarcastically," I don't think you know the value of the info I will give...it is very valuable Intel." Her sarcasm became seriousness "It's about the aristocrats and our planet.Trust me you will need it and it's all the real deal."

There was silence. No one knew what to say. Getting any, let alone viable information on any of these two topics would be near impossible. Jenny looked at Bane lightly, letting the seriousness of those words sink in for a few seconds then she broke the silence," I know that you guys must have either a truth detector or a truth teller, so any of the information I give can be tested for its validity you will see that everything I say will be free of any falsehoods."

Bane was momentarily stunned. How could he have forgotten about the truth detection measures in the facility? He shook his head, making the uncertainty in his eyes disappear and the cold look to return. Looking at Jenny, he realised that he was standing on the line that separated him from the victory or failure of this deal. He took a breath," It's true that we have truth detection measures in the facility but the issue of the loyalty of you and your family still stands. You should all take the pledge."

Jenny felt agitation engulf her, just how stubborn was this man. He really wanted them to take the pledge! " What does it entail?" She asked resignedly.

Bane grinned in satisfaction and answered," It's a soul contract." He said lightly. Everyone in the room was shocked.

"Wasn't it going to be a normal pledge?" Layna asked with shock but was ignored by Bane.

Jenny glared at the man, she knew, everyone knew, how dangerous the contracts were. If many adults could not survive it, what about children? Jenny tilted her head and looked at Bane seriously "The children won't make the pledge, I will do it alone. So you will have the loyalty of a powerful beast transformer and valuable information. THOSE TERMS ARE ENOUGH." Jenny state firmly, leaving no room for argument.

Realising that he was dragging the conversation on for no reason, he relented and sighed,"Fine." He clicked a button on a watch like device on his wrist. A few seconds later a woman came in with a fake smile on her face with a mysterious aura surrounding her. She looked at Bane, who nodded at her and she promptly closed her eyes." Okay, she is a truth teller, so tell us everything." The air around him was dangerous as he said those words.

Jenny smiled and began the narration of the ten year gap they saw in her life.

"The first time I felt true grief was ten years ago, when I watched my parents being killed. They killed my parent's because they wanted me and my power, the power of a life bringer ,so after they killed them, I was taken away. I didn't even have time to grieve my parents."

She paused, took a deep breath then continued,"However, this was not a simple kill, kidnap case for there were greater works at force. I was taken to the aristocrats who knew of my power. They had made their home in space, like my family. They had a bidding contest to see who would get me and in the end I was sold to the mafia master who sent me to earth to revitalise certain posts so that he could continue to exploit even more of the earth's resources. All to be sold to other planets."

There was shock on the faces of Rye, Layna, and James but Jenny carried on with the story unfazed," Apart from learning that I should keep my head down, I learnt many things. This planet, earth, was being experimented on with different kinds of pollution by other planetary powers, to see how far it could go and it was all under the consent of the aristocrats. However, I was still being sent to revive those areas.

I never stopped looking for a way to escape until one day, on my sixteenth year of life, I not only found a means to escape I also found some shocking intelligence. Within six months this planet will be unable to go through any more pollution so they plan to extract the planets core and abandon the remaining beings on this planet. I knew we would all die then. we only had two options, either I find and heal the planetary holder or I find a way to tell all humanity of their certain demise. I use the escape root I discovered and ran...you know the rest from there" Jenny finished.

Everyone on the room was shocked. Jenny's story was a bit too much to take in at once. Life Bringer? Aristocrats? But the thing that scared them was plain. Humanity only had six months to survive.
