50 No Rest For the Wicked

[No Chapter Tomorrow]

Leana jumped, "Why is everyone able to sneak up on me. First Evos and Cal, now you. I think my hearing is growing away." Shaking my head, I grew a pair of shears and started to tend to the garden, "I don't know about that, but if you're concerned, I can take a look at it for you."

"You would do that for me?" I smiled, "Of course I would. You're my subordinate and family." I could hear Leana's tail wag, and she jumped on my back, wrapping her arms and legs around me, "Oh, Captain!"

I stiffened a bit as Leana started to generate Electro, making all of her hair stand on end, "Leana, control yourself." Whimpering, Leana loosened her grip, sliding off my back, "Sorry, Captain, I won't do it again."

Patting Leana on her head, I smiled, "It's fine, though I do have to ask are all minks this clinging." Leana started to bite her lip, and she blushed, "Some time with really close family and friends. At least that's what my mother told me. Though I've never acted this way around anyone else."

"Well, I'm glad that you consider me family." Leana turned bright red, and she started to pant, and her eyes said she wanted to jump my bones. I went to bed that night, wondering about the past of my crewmates. They didn't seem like the people who would end up in the situation I found them in.

Getting up early in the morning, I was eating a fruit bowl when Evos slammed a book down on the table. Jumping again, I went to scold the child when I saw the bags around his eyes, "I finished reading the book. I'm ready for the test."

"Did you stay up all night reading this?" I asked, gesturing at the book. Evos nodded, "You said if I read your book and passed the test, I could help you in the lab." Still a little unsure, I placed my hand on Evos' forehead and frowned, "I give you the benefit of the doubt, but you won't be taking the test until you get some sleep."

"I don't need sleep. I feel more awake than ever." I picked up the stubborn child and started to walk towards the dorms, "That's because your body is burning your fat reserves to keep your mind active. If you did read the book, you would know this, now go to bed before I make you."

I put Evos down in his bedroom and shut the door behind me. I waited until he finally stopped trying to push the door open and collapsed to the floor.

Sighing, I tucked Evos into bed. Back in the kitchen, I blinked when I saw Cal eating my breakfast, "Hey there, Cap, where have you been." I didn't reply, and I went back into the kitchen to make myself another bowl.

"Why do you insist on eating my food?" It was the fourth time Cal had stolen my food, and I still couldn't figure out why. "Because it's fun to see your reactions. And do you have a breaking point? Or did you remove that feature as well?"

"Will you stop or no?" Cal shrugged, "Maybe, if you act like a man." I stood up straight, "Excuse me?" Cal leaned over, and she looked at me like I was a piece of meat, "Why haven't you taken funbags to bed, or me for that matter. I may be getting up there in years, but I'm still attractive."

Cal emphasized the point by pushing together her breast, "My parents raised me to treat women as equals, at least in the ways it matters." In a flash, Cal reached in between my legs, grabbing onto my little brother.

"Huh, and here I thought you were underequipped. But now I more eager than ever to get out of those pants and into mine." Frowning, I removed Cal's hand, "Why are you acting like this?"

"Because I wanted to see what kind of person you were. And honestly, I expected us to end up in your or my bedroom." Sighed, I grabbed my food, "If you want to find out what kind of person I am, try having a conversation instead of trying to lay with me and grabbing my junk."

"But it's some much more fun my way." Finally able to eat my breakfast in peace, I looked at the rising sun. "So, are you having fun with your new role, Captain?" I rolled my eyes, "The last thing I need right now is some smart-ass remarks from you."

Ace jumped down from the crow's nest, holding onto his hat, "Pops makes it look easy, doesn't he." Smiling, I started to eat, "Well, in my defense, I didn't pick the easiest people to work with."

"But you still care for them either way, don't you?" Ace asked as he tried to reach over and steal from my plate. "Of course I do, there my crewmates, and I'm their captain. Besides, they all come from the same past as me." I answered, making his hand away, "You, on the other hand, are racking up debt, my friend."

I smiled at the terrified look on Ace's face, "What you thought you could eat my food and live on my ship for free. Currently, you owe me ten thousand berri, and it's only going to grow."

"Is there any way I could reduce that astronomical number?" Rolling my eyes at his theatrics, I handed Ace a mop and bucket, "Short of turning yourself, I suggest you get to work."

Ace grumbled as he started to mop the deck, "I'm a good friend, aren't I." Ace didn't say anything, and I know I had absolute power over him.

"Ah, it's good to be king." Turning around, I flinched as Evos was right behind me, "Okay, I'm putting a bell around your neck. How can you always sneak up on me."

Evos shrugged, "My parents said I've always moved silently. They said never to tell anyone about it."
