33 Gibby

The rule onboard whitebeards ship was if you found a devil fruit, it was yours to do whatever you wanted to do with it. In my room, I pulled out my violin and the devil fruit from the bitch I killed. Holding the fruit in one hand and my instrument in the other before thinking about fusing them together.

The devil fruit broke apart into several motes of light that all landed on the violin. Slowly the instrument changed the wood, turning a deep blue while the strings turned green. Plucking each string, every note seemed to resonate through the air.

The weapon would be useful in large-scale battles, but I could imagine everyone's shock as our enemies fainted and our allies roared in triumph. I had underestimated this power of mine. If I could find one of the cannon devil fruits, the possibilities were almost endless.

At that moment, I felt someone staring at me, looking over my new pet shark was looking at me. The dog-sized fish was swimming in the tank I built him, but I thought it was about time I give him a power-up.

Walking over to my desk, I pulled out a pouched filled with white powered. After sprinkling some into the tank, I wanted the tranquilizer to take effect. When the shark fell asleep, I touched his dorsal fin and started to change his body.

I reinforced his fins, replacing cartilage with bone, and lengthened his spine, making him more agile. I promoted bone density around the skull and added a locking mechanism around his jaws. And for the cherry on top, I added a bladed sailfin that should cut through ships like butter.

Grabbing the dense 400-pound beast, I placed him on my bedroom floor. I realized that the friction would make it hard for him to move. I then thought of a snail, and I added two mucus glands on his belly.

The tranquilizer wore off a few minutes later, and my shark looked around in confusion before its eyes settled on me. There was a staring contest before the shark rolled over, showing its belly.

I wondered if I had accidentally changed its behavior by thinking of a dog when changing him. Testing it out, I walked over and rubbed his scally stomach. The shark definitely liked that, "Well, I guess I'm you're master now. It would help if you had a name. How about Gibby."

The name fit him perfectly. Gibby had brown, almost black scales with small beady eyes and was definitely not a skinny lad. "Let's get you in the water and see how you do." I blinked as Gibby growled in agreement. It sounded like an alligator.

Gibby followed me to the deck, and everyone stared at the shark, "Soren, what happened to your shark." I smiled at Bane, "What, you thought I just wanted him as eye candy? Nah, in a few years, this guy is going to be almost half the length of this ship."

Gibby chuffed again before sliding to the rail of the ship and slipping into the water. I looked over to the side to see Gibby gliding through the water. His powerful tail and muscles propelling him through the water, "Um don't you think it's a little dangerous for him to be swimming right now. We're pretty close to the calm belt."

"He'll be fine." As if to prove my point, Gibby dove, and a few seconds later, he resurfaced with a huge fish almost twice his size. Bane and I watched in stunned silence as Gibby devoured the whole thing, bones and all.

He repeated this three more times before Gibby sated his bloodlust, "You're right, he'll be fine. So did you hear about the captain's plan to raid a Marine outpost?"

I looked at Bane like he was impaired, "You do remember that we both attended that meeting five days ago, right?" Bane had a bullshit smile across his face, "I'm only trying to make conversation. You don't have to snap at me like that."

Rolling my eyes, I smacked Bane on the back of his legs with my sword, and he yelped, "Why do you keep doing that." I shrugged, "It shuts you up, and I don't draw blood." Turning around, I left Bane with a red hide. I remembered I needed to tend to my garden, "Keep an eye on Gibby on me, will you."

I could hear Bane cursing under his breath, but I knew that he would get over it. After a bountiful harvest, I was ready to turn in for the day. My head almost touched my pillow when I heard someone scream, "Everyone out to the deck."

I punched a hole in my wall, and I pulled back on my kimono and grabbed my sword. I could almost hear Sanguinem begging for me to draw it from its scabbard. And I had to admit, depending on who was there, I might have to.

Everyone had their weapons drawn, and every division commander was standing next to whitebeard at the front. Pushing my way through, I realized what had caused such an uproar.

There was another galleon, and atop of the main mast was the flag of the Charlotte Family, and standing at the front of the ship was Charlotte Smoothie. "Captain, what are we going to do."

Whitebeard growled, "I don't know what Lin is doing wandering into my waters. Does she want to start a war?" I frowned, "Should I take care of her."

Marco glared at me, "Why do you get to fight her? I'm the vice-captain."

"Enough the both of you. No one is fighting anyone. We'll let them pass for now, but there's a change in plans. We're heading back to Sphinx. I have a bad feeling about this."

I grumbled as I got back in bed and Sanguinem shared my disappointment that there wasn't a fight, "I swear this universe is working against me, at least when I have my own crew I won't have to deal with any of this."
