12 Sixth Vow: Two Sides of the Same Coin II

"Good evening young master Victor. Welcome back." Victor is greeted by their family's most trusted butler. "How many times do I have to tell you Ed, no need to wait for me to come back. Besides, it's late."

"It's fine young master, this is my job after all… The documents that you have requested are placed on top if your bedroom desk." Ed the butler knew all of his master's schemes, even the creepy and disturbing ones. Everything was examined by him before it reaches to Victor, just like those documents.

"Ah yes, yes. Thank you. You are now excused." Victor got ins his room and went inside the bathroom. While he showered, he touched his lips. 'I still feel Rosie's warmth.' He sighed dreamily. For the first time in two years, he finally got the chance to hug her – she even let him kiss her forehead. A twisted smile formed on his face. He bit his lower lip. "Let's not get too excited."

After he showered, he dressed comfortably in his black pajamas and opened the documents. It contained recent photos of Catherine and there was also a written report of her activities. Her class schedule was found inside. "My Rosie is so adorable here. I love it."

He smiled at the photos. Even after he left for France, his men still monitored Catherine. They took photos of her and sent them all to him. This was his way on staying connected with her. Victor cannot openly communicate with Catherine – not when he had a lot of business to take care of.

Her photos made him feel at ease. He kissed a photo of her smiling underneath the tree. She wore a pastel pink sweater and walking Peanut at the park. He opened his phone and called Catherine.

"Hello Rosie, sorry if it's a bit late." He smiled. "Oh, Vic! I don't mind really. I'm still awake. We have a test tomorrow so, I got to study."

"Ah really? I won't bother you for too long, the A student has to study well." Catherine chuckled. "Okay, okay… Victor seriously, you could have let me know that you would be coming back. I would've picked you up at the airport."

Her comment made him chuckled. "I took a night flight. Also, speaking of which… What's your deal with Kingsley anyway Rosie? Just because I left doesn't mean you can find someone else to replace me. I'm very hurt."

The female laughed. "Replace you? Never. You are my best friend and no one can replace you. Grey and I have some, you know, something going on – I'm seeing him but that's about it." Victor could not believe what he is hearing. He instantly sat up. He knew that they had something between them but hearing it directly from Catherine hit differently.

He was caught in the first half. He is happy to be assured that he will not be replaced but listening to her saying that she and Kingsley are going out is madness. No, never… He will make sure of that.

"Vic? You still there?" Catherine called his attention but he was lost of word. "Victor? Are you okay?"

Victor snapped back to reality. "Yes Rosie, I'm fine. I just found it perplexing that you are seeing Kingsley." Catherine sighed. "It is not that long though. Grey is just intrigued by me, you know? Just, hm, I don't know. He did make it clear that he will be courting me or something? Vic, look, I really don't know."

Victor sighed in relief. "So, you guys are not anything serious?"

"Yeah, I kind of think so. I just really don't understand what Grey exactly wants from me. I'm so confused." Catherine yawned. "Go to sleep now Rosie, you're tired. We'll talk tomorrow, okay? Love you."

"Bye, Victor… love you too." She mumbled the last part. In the past, Catherine would hear him say that once in a while. She dismissed it as a platonic kind of love. Maybe that was her coping mechanism that her and Victor will never be an item.

Victor meant every time he said it. Those words bore such meaning. He placed his phone on the nightstand and sighed. He hugged his pillow imagining that it was Catherine whom he was holding and let himself drown in a dreamless sleep.
