"Mom? What are you all doing here so early in the morning?" Alex asked, looking at his family with a frown on his face.

"We decided to come earlier and pay you a surprise visit. We left the house yesterday and drove through the night. I guess my granddaughter went to school already," His mother said, pushing past him to walk into the house with his younger sister.

"But you should have called. What if I was out of town?" Alex asked with a disapproving frown going to stand in front of her.

"That's nonsense. Go assist your father in getting the bags from the car," His mother said, brushing her plump body past him as she walked toward the guestroom.

He suddenly remembered Min-Jung was in his bedroom and hurried past them to shut his bedroom door.

"Is there someone else in the house?" His mom asked, looking at the guestroom bed, which looked like someone had slept on it.
