7 The hug

Zhakhil and Adran walked behind Xaddrin very silently. What started off as a good morning turned bad very fast. It was tensed between them all.

Zhakhil was feeling down, his dragon was probably thinking that he liked the knight. He wanted so badly to clear the misunderstanding and tell the male that it was him that he liked and no one else but it was hard to do so when Xaddrin didn't want to talk to him.

They walked back to the tower where Xaddrin went straight to his room. With the plant he had gotten he could finally be free from the clutches of the witch. If he were to eat the plant them all the spells on his body would be undone.

He wouldn't have to stay there anymore and he could find his way home. It was high time that he left the place.

Thinking about leaving made him a bit sad. It meant that he would have to leave the prince behind. But thinking of the condition he had caught the prince and the knight, he decided it was for the best.

He got a mortar and a pestel from the cupboard and crushed the plant. He was to mix it in his food later on and consume it. His freedom was right in his hands and he couldn't be happier.

He gazed at his wall to the picture of the woman who had trapped him in that towel. His blood boiled with fury and intent for revenge.

He was going to make her pay for all that he had been put through. He was a dragon and not the queen's personal pet that she could do with him as he pleased.

"I am coming home mother," he said to the dragon inside his amulet. She was the person that he had missed the most of his home. Once he returned to his kingdom, all will be well.

*Knock! Knock!*

A knock cane from his door, from the smell he could tell that it was the prince.

"Come in," he said when in fact he wished to ask him to leave. He didn't want to hear the man talk about earlier and he would much rather just let it go.

The feeling in his heart was jealousy and he knew it. He was just too stubborn to accept it. He convinced himself that it was for the best the human liked another human and not a dragon.

A human and a dragon being together would only make the prince's already complicated life to be more complicated.

The door swung open revealing the prince on the other end. He was nervous about talking to his dragon, the only way for him to explain what happened was to confess his feelings and that was not as easy as he had thought when he came up with the plan.

He walked into the room, step by step talking his time to run over what he was to say to the dragon in his mind.

His palm was sweaty and throat dry just from thinking of how the conversation could go.

"I don't have all day for you to waste," Xaddrin spat out harshly. The jealousy that he was feeling was making him bitter and thus he words came out as they did.

Zhakhil stood on his spot frozen. He had never had his dragon speak to him in that tone of voice before. He had never offended him to the point that he raised his voice. He had no idea that the dragon had any other emotions other than bored, relaxed and everything chill.

Since they had lived together, it was the first time that he saw the dragon mad and harsh with him.

He swallowed hard. He had no idea what to say in this situation. Everything that he had practised evaporated from his mind and he remained blank.

"Did you come here only to stare at me?" the dragon asked him. 'Would I you rather go stare at someone else,' he thought bitterly.

He pounded the plant with a lot of force. The truth was that he had never intended to go home until he saw him in the knights hand. His plan was to get free from the spell of the wicked queen and travel the world with Zhakihl.

Show the male all the fun places that he had never been too. But now he wanted to be far away from him.

"N..no," Zhakhil's voice trembled as he spoke.

He gathered courage and moved closer to the dragon. He was so nervous that he could be speak but he had to get the dragon to stop being mad. He didn't like this side of him that was pushing him away.

As he stood behind the dragon, he closed his eyes and slowly reached his hands and hugged him. He placed his head on Xaddrin's back and waited. He held his breath anticipating to be pushed away and yelled at for his action.

But none of that came, Xaddrin's body went stiff when the prince took the initiative yo hug him. It was just a hug and he had been hugged many times before but for some reason that hug made him breathless.

He let go of the mortar and pestle and brought his hands to the prince's hands and held them. He couldn't help but close his eyes to enjoy the warm that the hug brought to him.

All the anger that he was feeling fleeted away leaving him peaceful to enjoy the hug. His heart was racing in his chest and he could pick up the thundering sound of the prince's heart in his ears.

In that moment all else stopped to matter. It felt like it was only the two of them in the world and they would have it no other way.

The silence between them wasn't awkward but comfortable. They found a way to resolve the problem without even talking, somehow Xaddrin found that he no longer had thoughts of the prince liking the knight.

The prince was his and that wasn't going to change. His lips stretched into a smile when he thought of this and he held his prince even closer.
